Two different scenarios happen here depending on the character the player chooses to start the game: After Leon finds a way to access the City's sewer system, he hears Ben screaming inside the cell, William Birkin appears and implants an embryo to spread the G-virus with it. After a conversation in which Ben gives him the documents with the information regarding the Umbrella conspiracy, Ben is brutally murdered by the embryo that Birkin planted in him. When they escape the city, they find a secret entrance inside the sewers that leads to one of Umbrella's secret facilities. However, during the tour, an unknown woman enters the scene shooting Ada, which leads Leon to protect her, being wounded by a gunshot, although Ada manages to save him. There they would meet Sherry, making it known that the girl was fleeing from a mutant creature who turned out to be her father who had infected her with the G-virus. Ada is mortally wounded (by a mutated claw of William Birkin mutated with the G-virus or by the Tyrant T-103, depending on the scenario) and Leon discovers that she was a spy working for a company competing with Umbrella. In the end, a mysterious figure (with Ada's silhouette and voice) helps Leon (or Claire) by giving him a rocket launcher to defeat the Tyrant. Leon reunites with Claire and the two along with Sherry escape through a secret track until they reach a train, leaving the mutated Birkin to die in the self-destruct sequence. In December 1998, after the incident, Claire leaves for Europe in search of her brother while he remains in the United States, makes a deal with the government for Sherry's safety and later joins an Anti-Umbrella force. participating in numerous classified missions until Umbrella's operations are shut down by the government.
