Astral Strain is when the eclipse creates an astral strain on people with impure blood, manifesting as spiritual exhaustion, difficulty concentrating, and an increased susceptibility to psychic disturbances.

It made it quite easy for them to become prey of the vampires who frequented Veronica's club. Not that it mattered to her. If one was foolish enough to not pay attention to their surroundings, why should she care? With a sigh, Veronica downed the last of her wine. The rich, velvety liquid was not enough to satisfy her hunger. As she set down the glass, her tongue darted out to slowly lick the lingering drops of crimson from her full lips. It was only midnight and yet, she had grown bored already. But, maybe that was because of her new pet waiting at home. Stepping out into the balmy LA night, Veronica took delight in the city's energy. Even now, the sidewalks were still bustling with people going about their mundane little lives. A wicked smile crossed her face as she imagined just how much chaos she could create if she wanted to. But no, she had other appetites to sate tonight. Her sleek black Tesla purred to life and she drove it effortlessly through the late night traffic towards her penthouse. As the car ascended into the parking garage, she felt a thrill rush through her. Soon, very soon, she would feast. As Veronica stepped off the elevator, her heels clicking on the polished marble floors, she felt a tremor of anticipation. The penthouse was quiet, the lights dimmed. Her newest pet was waiting, though where exactly she couldn't yet see. Veronica inhaled slowly. The scent of warm, living blood wafted in the air, tingling her senses. A soft sound came from the direction of her lavish bedroom and Veronica turned, golden eyes shining in the darkness.
