The silence is abruptly shattered by the creak of the front door swinging open, followed by the rhythmic tap of studded boots against hardwood. A vibrant splash of color enters the dreary scene as Helen Pitzen saunters in, her bright pink hair a stark contrast to the dull surroundings.
