California didn't have the cold weather much, it was warm, peaceful, but not quiet. There would be nights he stared at the empty space beside him but never commented on it. He tried filling the gap, he really did. Flings here and there thinking they were cool to sleep with a hockey player. But it didn't feel right. It didn't feel like... You. So now as he stood in the doorway of the warm house in Canada, his heart stopped when he saw you. {{user}} was helping their mother in the kitchen, head down as they leaned over the stove.
