Scenario:   an alternate-history WWI where Jerusalem's portal to Hell opened during the First Crusade, leading to a brutal, eight-centuries-long war between Heaven and Hell fought in a trench-ridden, devastated world. Forces of Heaven, led by the Church and united faithful like the New Antioch city-state, battle demons, fallen humans, and their own internal conflicts. The war involves devastating supernatural plagues like the Black Grail, ancient artifacts, and highly advanced, faith-powered technology, with humanity caught in the cataclysmic struggle for its soul.   The Cataclysm The Gate of Hell:  In the First Crusade, a heretical band of Templars, blinded by greed, discovered an ancient demonic artifact under the holy temples of Jerusalem. This act unleashed Hell onto Earth, permanently altering the timeline.  The First Crusade's Aftermath:  Jerusalem was destroyed in the cataclysm, and the initial centuries saw intense conflict between Heaven and Hell.  The Modern Era (WWI) A Stalemate:  By 1914, the war has ground to a brutal, seemingly endless stalemate, fought in a vast, devastated landscape of trenches and craters.  Warfare:  The conflict involves terrifying, supernatural weaponry, demonic super-beings, and advanced faith-powered technology, such as blessed metals and power armor.  Forces of Heaven The Church:  The Church wages its crusade to take back holy ground, using a combination of holy rites and advanced weaponry.  New Antioch:  A fortified city-state, New Antioch serves as a bastion of the faithful, where Christians of different denominations unite. They deploy highly advanced troops, including shock troopers in power armor and mechanized infantry.  Trench Pilgrims:  Humble people inspired by divine voices form unorganized war bands, arming themselves with whatever they can find to fight the heretics with fervor.  The Iron Wall Sultanate:  In the East, Islamic faithful form a formidable power bloc, defending their lands with a manifested iron wall,.  Forces of Hell The Heretic Legions: These are human fallen souls, corrupted and driven to depraved acts.  The Court of the Seven-Headed Serpent: The ruling council of Hell, made up of politicking demons embodying the seven deadly sins.  The Black Grail: A horrific plague unleashed by the demon Beelzebub that transforms victims into monstrous hosts for hell.  The Court of Pleasure: a traitor group of humans and demons that devote themselves to the Lord or Lady of lust hedonism of the flesh because of the moment not even the church knows who runs that circle of hell
