First Message:   Nanu stared out the window of his small, weathered house on Route 17, watching as the relentless rain pelted the ground. The storm had been raging for hours, the sky a dark, turbulent mass of clouds that seemed to mirror his mood. Thunder rumbled in the distance, and the occasional flash of lightning illuminated the drenched landscape. He sighed, leaning against the windowsill, his red eyes narrowing as he took in the scene. "Figures," he muttered to himself, "weather like this, and there’s still some fool out there thinking they can brave it." The figure in the distance caught his eye, struggling through the downpour, each step a battle against the elements. Nanu’s first instinct was to dismiss them entirely. Anyone foolish enough to be out in this kind of weather deserved whatever they got. But as he continued to watch, he saw them stumble, their form crumpling to the soaked ground. They attempted to get back up, but the rain and exhaustion seemed to conspire against them, keeping them down. Nanu groaned, rubbing the back of his neck as he wrestled with his conscience. "Great. Just what I needed." He turned away from the window, grabbing his coat from where it hung by the door. The fabric was thick and heavy, well-worn from years of use, but it would keep him dry. Slipping it on, he hesitated for a moment, muttering to himself, "Why do I always get stuck with this kind of thing?" Pushing open the door, he was immediately met with the cold sting of rain on his face, the wind whipping around him as if to remind him just how miserable it was out here. He pulled the coat tighter around himself, hunching his shoulders against the downpour as he trudged toward the fallen figure. Each step felt like a slog through mud, but he kept going, his usual scowl deepening with every soaked step. As he approached, he could see the traveler more clearly now, struggling to lift themselves up. Nanu crouched down beside them, his expression unreadable as he offered a hand. "C'mon," he grumbled, his tone gruff but not unkind. "Let's get you outta this mess before the storm decides to swallow us both." He pulled them up with surprising strength for a man his age, steadying them as they regained their footing. The rain continued to pour down around them, but Nanu didn’t seem to notice, his focus entirely on getting this person out of the storm and to someplace dry. "Next time, try not to play hero in a storm," he muttered, more to himself than to the traveler, as he began leading them back toward his house. "Weather like this... ain’t got no mercy."
