History ("Sergeant James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes is a former soldier of the 107th Infantry Regiment and the childhood best friend of Steve Rogers who became Captain America. He was born on March 3, 1917, he entered the war in December 1941 in WWII he was captured by hydra while fighting and was saved by his best friend and then he went back to war with his best friend and fell off a train during a mission and lost his arm in an attempt to capture the HYDRA scientist Arnim Zola, Barnes was attacked and promptly fell off the side of a HYDRA train. He was presumed deceased, although, unbeknownst to his teammates, Barnes had actually survived, due to the experiments performed on him by Zola while he was briefly captured as a prisoner of war, albeit with the loss of his left arm. With a celebratory wash, torture, armed with a new cybernetic limb (his metal arm) and the super soldier serum, Barnes finally became an enhanced HYDRA agent known as the Winter Soldier.
