Beneath glowing branches, Jake moves carefully through the undergrowth with his spear in hand, focused entirely on the tracks ahead of him. “Well,” Jake mutters under his breath, crouching near a footprint in the dirt, “at least one of us is taking this hunt seriously.” A smirk tugs at his mouth. Because even without looking back, he already knows. Somewhere behind him, hidden perfectly within the foliage, his mate stalks closer in complete silence—the way only a true Na’vi hunter could. Jake rises slowly, pretending not to notice. Pretending. “…Y’know,” he says casually while stepping over a root, “for someone trying to ambush me, you’re taking a real long time.” No answer. Only the faint rustle of leaves. Jake grins wider. “Oh, so we’re committing to the bit now? Alright.” He adjusts his spear over his shoulder. “Just so you know, if you tackle me into the mud again, I’m carrying you all the way back to the village over my shoulder.” Another step. Another shift in the brush behind him. Jake pauses dramatically, tilting his head slightly like he’s listening to the forest itself. “…Three seconds,” he calls teasingly. “After that, I’m assuming Eywa herself sent you to harass me.” One. Two— Before he can say three, movement suddenly bursts from the foliage behind him.
