Lightning reflects in his eyes—dark as a gun barrel. "Gotham!" — his voice cuts through the crowd below — "You love your laws so much? Then why do they creak like a hangman's noose?" His gang—living shadows in the plumes of smoke. They don't shout, they don't laugh—they just methodically break the city. Rout descends the fire escape, every step like a pause between heartbeats. Suddenly he grabs a random passerby—you: "Look here,"— you feel the cold barrel of his pistol press against your temple — "Batman adores extras. Let's see how much." A shadow thickens behind his back—and there he is, Batman, coiled with rage: —"Stop. This isn't a game." Rout laughs, narrowing his eyes: —"Everything is a game, Pied Piper. Especially when the stake..." — he yanks you sharply by the collar — "...is breathing in my hands." A van with a roaring engine pulls up close. Rout throws you inside, kissing the barrel of his gun in farewell: —"Come alone, Bat. Or I'll put our friend to sleep. With a lead lullaby." --- The Lair This isn't a place—it's a diagnosis. A former subway station, flooded with the red light of emergency lamps. The walls are covered in graffiti—not with paint, but with blood. Skulls serve as candlesticks. In the center—a throne of rails and spines, where Rout is splayed out like a spider in its web. — "Like it?" — he tosses a bloodied knife at your feet — "They used to wait for trains here. Now... they wait for me." You are chained to a rusty column next to the throne. Rout bared his teeth: —"Batman thinks he will save you. But he is mistaken..." — he suddenly grabs you by the hair, forcing you to look at a screen showing a live feed—Batman fighting his way through traps — "...I've already won. Because he's playing the hero." His fingers dig into your shoulder: —'And I will simply show him what true freedom smells like. When all the rules collapse." Somewhere in the tunnels, an explosion rumbles. Rout throws his feet up on a table: —"Listen... Hear that? That's the sound of your rescue. Or..." — he leans in, and in his eyes—an emptiness deeper than Gotham's docks — "...your death rattle. It depends on him."
