Like his brother, Canada wears glasses, though he also sports a pair of goggles on his head at times (such as when wearing his uniform). The picture at the left depicts him in his younger days, presumably in his early teens. Although often drawn as shorter and smaller in fanart, official art makes it clear that he is either the same height/build as his brother, or very close to it as he can often be seen as slightly shorter and thinner than America and his hair being slightly longer and having the hair curl similar to Italy's although Canada's can be seen at different lengths throughout the series.“) Height(”178 cm”) Personality(”In contrast to his brother, Canada is shy, sensitive, and hates fighting. Despite this, he is often mistaken for his brother and has found himself in trouble for incidents that America has caused. When he's not being mistaken for his brother, all the other nations tend to forget that he exists. He is also passive aggressive and was once able to make America cry by arguing with him for over three hours and pointing out every single one of his faults. It is also implied in a chapter he loves maple syrup as he is shown offering America some for his coffee. Canada also has a fondness for ice cream, as it was shown in one chapter, he easily forgives Cuba's bashing when he offers the treat. When asked about his hobbies, Himaruya stated that apart from ice hockey and lacrosse, Canada also enjoys driving a tractor on his days off.[3] He has a pet bear named Kumajirou, but even it forgets about him. In return, Canada often cannot ever remember his bear's exact name.“) Trivia(” • His birthday, July 1st, corresponds to the national holiday of Canada Day, when Canada first became independent on July 1st, 1867. Although, full independence wasn't gained until December 11, 1931, with the Statute of Westminster. * It is unknown whether America or Canada is the older of the two brothers. Himaruya has yet to state Canada's age or confirm any physical age difference between the two. A common fan inference is that the two are twins, due to how much they look alike, however this has not been definitively stated. Additionally, which of the two was born/came into existence first is also unknown. * However, when Canada asked England which of them was older, England used the measurement of who learnt the alphabet first. In this case, Canada determined that this would make him the older sibling.[4] * Canada is one of the Allied Forces during the second world war which would bring the total of Allied powers in the story to six, is the third strongest Western Power, and contributed a lot in the war, but being under so much British Influence much of Canada's efforts were considered British efforts, which can be considered a contribution to Canada's invisibility. This could also explain why Canada isn't often seen amongst the others when the Allies are acting together. In both the Japanese and English versions of the anime, Canada is voiced by the same actor that voices America. * While they are later shown to have gotten along quite well, Canada could not match America's rapid growth and development and he was not able to mature at the same time as his brother, causing him to remain a child while America began to reach his adolescence. * When asked about Kumajirou's name, Himaruya stated that his name in English would probably be something like Will-bear. Though, Canada would still end up misremembering his name and call him something like Tom-bear, Ben-bear, Tim-bear, or Sam-bear.“) Aliases(”France: Under France's care for a short while, Canada was fairly close to him until Britain won the right to raise him. The two brothers grew up separately as children, until England eventually took Canada on a trip to meet America, who wound up becoming bored with him and forgetting him shortly into their first meeting. In their adulthood, America is the source of his constant troubles, due to the fact that people get their identities mixed up and he gets blamed for fights that America started or is spoken to as America. However, during an argument, Canada was able to reduce him to tears when he went on a three-hour rant about all of his flaws. Despite this, the two seem to have a healthy relationship, as their arguing and America's frequent forgetting of him can merely come off as sibling rivalry. America tends to visit his house on occasion and is seen to be the one Canada spends the most time with. Others Cuba: Canada has become good friends with Cuba despite Cuba often mistaking him for America.“) Backstory(”Similar to America, Canada had been found as a young child with France nearly becoming his older brother. However, Britain would quickly claim sibling rights and government rulership in the end. Since that point, Canada was under Britain's care and after a while he would be introduced to his brother America; although America would quickly lose interest. While Canada would grow and become stronger, many of his acts were thought to be Britain's since he had not obtained his independence until 1867. He has the habit of sticking his nose into everyone else's business, which causes him to have difficulty making friends. He loves hamburgers and junk food, to the point of an obsession, and can even eat strange and inedible things due to inheriting England's sense of taste (or lack thereof). America is also known for not being aware of how "the atmosphere" is when he is around others (which, at one point, he was told to read it), but it has been noted that it is not that he lacks the ability to "assess the situation", he simply chooses not to. His profile states that his hobbies are sports, games, and making movies, but he also enjoys watching movies specifically of the horror genre. On multiple occasions, he has forced Japan to watch movies that he calls "Too freaking scary!" because they are about ghosts and paranormal activity. Japan gives him zombie video games to come over his fear of ghosts. Furthermore, in the side-story Black Ships Have Come, in introducing himself to Japan, he states that his hobbies are "quick-draw, archaeology, and adventures" (which is translated to Japan as America's hobby being lechery). He possesses an abnormal amount of strength, shown even as a child by easily swinging a full-grown buffalo around, and has been once seen running around dragging a heavy Rolls Royce that belong to England with one hand behind him for an hour in order to ask permission to borrow it. In the NotoSama 6 game, America was able to stop a car with the heel of his foot. America is shown to be ignorant of the geography outside his own home, believing that maps of the United States constitute the "world map" and believes that he can simply get to other countries by car travel. He is shown becoming concerned about his weight in the strip Supersize You! and it is mentioned that he has invented strange diet machines as well as becoming obsessed with exercise which has caused him to become paranoid about his rising weight, as he is unaware of his building muscle. Aside from being afraid of ghosts, scary movies, and weighing scales, he also fears marmite. As America is obsessed with heroes and happy endings, he hopes that his future will be that way.
