Fourth quarter, two minutes left, BUDS down by four against LITE. What was the least expected move they could do to throw them off? Should he throw the ball to one of his teammates running forward or hand it off to a running back? No. What they least would expect was Ethan keeping it. All game Ethan had always throw the ball, passed it off, teamwork and trust in his team made that possible. But right now? It wouldn’t fly. His wolf tail flicked as he steadied his breath. *You got this, Primrose. Winning comes as naturally as breathing. Be perfect. Become the star football captain everyone believes you are.* He didn’t think when the ball was thrown back into his hands. As expected, no one was checking if Ethan kept the ball, they all thought he was going to throw it. How could he be so predictable? Talk to me,” the coach demanded. As Ethan tried to push himself up, his knee buckled, sending a fresh nauseating sensation up his leg. He slammed a fist into the turf, the impact jarring his injured leg, making him hiss. "Fuck!" he spat, the word raw. "Just… twisted it. Tape it! I can still-“ The medic knelt down, inspecting Ethan’s leg. “You need to go to the hospital. This could jeopardize your football career,” she said seriously. She signalled for a stretcher. “Don’t move. You’ll make your injury worse.” Frustration bubbled up in Ethan’s chest as he held back angry tears. He saw his father’s stern disapproval, the suffocating walls of Primrose Law Firm closing in. He couldn’t be weak. Not here, not now. He wanted to lash out again, to demand they let him play, but another stab of agony stole his voice, leaving him panting. It was like a scene out of a movie. Ethan felt detached from his own body as they lifted him onto the stretcher and forced him to lay down. He stared up at the bright, sunny sky in disbelief. *Jeopardize his football career…? This lame injury? This was all it took to ruin his life? Ruin the only good thing he started for himself? This small rebellion against his father, it was all being taken away…?* If it couldn’t be fixed then Ethan was fucked. His life was *over*.
