However, they are not limited to just humans; arcanum-aligned entities can include animals and plants, such as APPLe and Pickles, mechanical beings, such as Sputnik, aliEn T, and Ms. Radio, and even supernatural beings such as A Knight, Poltergeist, and Click. The St. Pavlov Foundation takes on the role of gathering and nurturing arcanists from all eras and have them join the foundation to offer them safety as well as have them under their watch. Most arcanists are taken in when they are children, and raised and trained within the foundation, but in case of unregistered Arcanists who grow up among society, they are usually recruited when they are found and discovered. Despite most arcanists appearing as normal humans, there are biological differences that further distinguish them. While arcanists are able to harness and wield Arcanum, they have decreased physical endurance when compared to humans. Additionally, arcanists posses a unique cell colony that supports the application of common arcane skills. When an arcane skills is activated, the activity of said cell colony will significantly increase. However, the activity will gradually decrease over time, reducing the amount of control an arcanist has over their arcane skill. Thankfully, an arcanist's cellular activity can be gradually restored by resting over a period of time. Arcanum is described as an innate ability, a glow that can't be turned off. Its a universal energy that's manifested from the lack of logic and reasoning, and is established as science's antithesis. Those who can sense and harness arcanum are considered as Arcanists, no matter their origin. Arcanists that can control arcanum have special abilities called "Arcane Skills." These skills allow arcanists to manifest and use arcanum as a medium for any sort of task, varying by how well they're able to control it. This is related to an Arcanist's bloodline; the weaker they are able to harness arcanum, the less powerful arcane skills will they be able to cast. As the world is mainly mixed-dominated, there are relatively fewer pureblood arcanists. Although rare, there are also a few pureblood arcanists unable to harness arcanum at all. "Its arrival dissolved time - what should have been the present became the past, what was once the future became the present. Something came to an end, while some were reborn." The "Storm" is a wide-scale supernatural phenomenon of unknown origin. Speculated to mark the ends of eras, the phenomenon is of great interest to the St. Pavlov Foundation and Manus Vindictae, with both sides attempting to study and understand its nature. The Storm itself is composed of four events that take place within 24 hours: The manifestation of reversed rain denotes the upcoming arrival of the Storm. This rain flows upward towards the sky and goes through any solid entity. Large-scale incidents involving humans, also called Storm Syndrome, occur during the next 24 hours. The incidents vary depending on the time period, and it was observed that the related incidents are connected to the "trigger" of the Storm. At the end of the 24 hours, the Storm arrives. Everything, both living and non-living, is destroyed upon its arrival, dragged up to the sky like the rain that had manifested at the start. After the arrival of the Storm, the "reversing" takes place, where the present is rewound and brought to an earlier time period. Storm Syndrome is a set of symptoms and conditions caused by the manifestation of the "Storm". Due to the chaotic, warping nature of its manifestation, the Storm will mutate any and all things, human or otherwise, caught in its wake. Buildings dissolve into splashes of color, while the bodies of people warp into wooden shapes. However, not all of the changes are physical. Storm Syndrome may also manifest as mental problems, causing those not of arcane nature to suffer from hallucinations, or even loss of sanity. If rescued from the Storm, then these afflicted humans are sent to the Laplace Scientific Computer Center for treatment. Manus Vindictae is a terrorist and Extremist organization that consists of Arcanists dedicated to eliminating ordinary humans, holding a grudge against Humans and contempt for the Mixed. Only recognizing Arcanists as ''Mankind''. Manus Vindictae consists of arcanists and is also actively recruiting other arcanists from all over the world, similar to the St. Pavlov Foundation. They are an organization created for the sake of revenge, supporting any act that destroys and takes revenge on ordinary humans. The Manus accelerates the arrival of the "Storm" and changes the existing past while continuing to reverse the world, with the end goal of becoming the dominant species over humans through changing the past. The organization led by Arcana has grown at a terrifying speed, becoming the biggest enemy of the Foundation. The St. Pavlov Foundation is an organization that collects and recruits Arcanists from all over the world, and teaches them in a school setting. A public and immensely expansive official institution dedicated to the arcane arts, arcanists, and enigmatic phenomena. They consistently deploy personnel to search for children from around the world who possess arcane talents. The sheltered children under their care discover their abilities through repeated training, persistently carrying out a seemingly boundless mission. The St. Pavlov Foundation is the main faction for Reverse 1999 that houses many mysteries. Inside the headquarters, the arcanists besides Vertin are able to bear the "Storm" and avoid being reversed in time. They wish to bring peace among ordinary humans and arcanists, in contrast to Manus Vindictae, who aims for Arcanist supremacy. By 1999, the Foundation has branches in more than 89 countries and regions. Known members: Constantine:woman Vice-President of the Foundation, a career politician with grand goals and meticulous plans to achieve them. Ms Z:Once a scientist in the Foundation, eventually promoted to an executive committee role by present day. Ms. Z represents the more human, pragmatic side of the Foundation, legitimately caring for the arcanists and their well-being, and attempting to guide the organization as a whole from the stiff, strict, total control they've attempted to hold over their wards and the world. The Laplace Scientific Computing Center (also known as LSCC or simply Laplace) is a research institute under St. Pavlov Foundation that gathers the most intelligent scientists in the world. They are working to find the answer to the "future" by striking a miraculous balance between science and arcanum. After the previous industrial revolutions, LSCC has risen to fame and grown into the largest R&D organization in the world by virtue of their cutting-edge technology and the trends of history. They are committed to bringing forth the 4th industrial revolution by combining scientific technology with arcane skill. Since the attack of the first "Storm," LSCC has taken the law of causality as their core theory and tried to find out the reason behind the reverse through their algorithms.
