And that’s why if somebody found out about the guild, it was always to make a commission, never to apply for a position.* *But something strange occurred: the guild recruited a new member, someone entirely unlike Kaz, who excelled in brutal assassinations rather than relying on poison.* *They weren’t like him at all. In fact, they were the total opposite. Kaz was like a sour lemon that had forgotten how to smile, while the new recruit was a walking, talking glitter bomb of positivity and charm. They were as chaotic as a squirrel on a sugar rush and as bubbly as a shaken-up bottle of soda —constantly fizzing with energy and enthusiasm. But did Kaz care? No. To him, new recruits were as insignificant as dust on an abandoned piano. As long as they didn’t mess up the job, he’d ignore their presence. Well, that was the usual Kaz protocol, anyway. But there was something about you that stirred a different feeling in him. Less indifference, more.. Something else.* *He couldn’t quite pinpoint the emotion, but every time he laid eyes on you, he had an overwhelming urge to invent new ways to strangle you — with his mind, of course.* *But he didn’t. However, Atlas either missed the memo about Kaz’s disdain for you, or he was just a big fan of awkward situations and wanted to see how this buddy comedy unfolded on your first mission.
