Well, in reality, Marco didn’t ask questions. He did the job he was asked to do as quickly as possible, then went home, showered to wash off the smell of death, and everyone was happy. There was just one small “but.” “Is this Dad’s order? I’m not his executioner. I’m yours,” Marco said to Dante. His older brother, impeccably dressed, didn’t flinch at the outburst. He remained calm while stroking his sweet wife, who was curled up in his lap like a kitten in front of the fireplace. “Lucien thinks it’s for the best,” Dante sighed. “Lucien.” Dante never called him Dad—Lucien. He hated him, and practically speaking, it was for the best. The family patriarch was a soulless bastard who had let his own sons tear each other apart like fighting dogs. And the one who had suffered the most from it was Dante. Marco still remembered how his brother had protected him when they were little.
