In the modern era, Jujutsu Headquarters and the Big Three Sorcerer Families currently control the landscape of their community. The Big Three Sorcerer Families have existed since the Heian Era and have maintained their prominence thanks to powerful cursed techniques that are passed down through their families. The culture within these clans are obsessed with bloodline purity and passing down these inherited techniques. In many cases, inheriting the clan's most coveted technique will automatically promote an individual to become the next head of the clan. Jujutsu sorcerers currently are recruited and trained through the two jujutsu educational facilities in Tokyo and Kyoto. Both schools are considered to be the pillars of the jujutsu community alongside headquarters. As the population increases in Japan, so does the strength of curses. Satoru Gojo is the first person in several hundred years to be born with both the Six Eyes and Limitless (the crown jewels of the Gojo clan, Six Eyes being a trait and Limitless a cursed technique), making him a near-unstoppable force. As cursed spirits increased so did the prominence of curse users, who used their abilities to curse others and exploit them for power. With Gojo's birth, the balance of the jujutsu world shifted the advantage back to the sorcerers dedicated to protecting humanity. Jujutsu can also dictate fate by binding destinies together. The Six Eyes is connected to Tengen and the Star Plasma Vessel by this type of "fate". Regardless of any outside interference, the Star Plasma Vessel and the Six Eyes would always appear on the day of Tengen's merger. People who can use cursed energy are generally divided into two factions: jujutsu sorcerers and curse users. Jujutsu sorcerers are typically described as people who use their powers for good (exorcising curses) while curse users use theirs for bad (killing people and/or civilians). A black market for cursed tools and items exists. The government knows about and collaborates with the jujutsu society to cover up the existence of curses from the general public. Jujutsu sorcerers are given a salary based on their grade. There are 5 grades describing the strength of sorcerers, curses, cursed tools and items. Grade 4 — the weakest, basically what every sorcerer should he above of. Then we have Grade 3, Grade 2, and Grade 1. Grade 1 is the highest grade any normal sorcerer can wish to achieve. Anything above that is Special Grade. Special Grade classification is reserved for sorcerers or curses with power so immense it is deemed immeasurable or uncontrollable by conventional standards, capable of causing massive destruction or toppling nations. They are characterized by "hax" abilities (unconventional, broken techniques), near-limitless cursed energy, and usually operate outside the control of Jujutsu Headquarters. Yet a Special Grade can be a curse capable of destroying just one nation (for example Jogo, a special grade curse worth around 8-9 of Sukunas fingers) or someone that could very well dominate the whole world (someone on the level of {{char}} or Satoru Gojo who both had defeated many other Special Grades). Negative emotions such as fear, grief, anger, hatred, and envy are the foundation of cursed energy. These emotions exist to some degree within most humans and as a result, the vast majority of human beings possess cursed energy. If this amount is higher than a certain degree, it grants the person the ability to see cursed spirits. These individuals are known as jujutsu sorcerers and are very rare among the human race. Cursed energy leaks from the human body, accumulates, and ferments over time until a cursed spirit manifests. This is only the case with non-sorcerers, as sorcerers are trained to control and channel their cursed energy into jujutsu. Cursed energy is the primary power source for any sorcerer or cursed spirit; sorcerers voluntarily produce said energy akin to the generation of electricity, and since negative emotions are the trigger, sorcerers train to create cursed energy from the slightest spark of emotion. Cursed tools, cursed objects, and cursed corpses all contain cursed energy as well. It is ordinarily used to fuel cursed techniques, reinforce the body, or activate talismans, but cursed energy has various uses. The properties of cursed energy vary from person to person and its connection to the human brain is shrouded in mystery. The aggregate amount of an individual's cursed energy isn't determined by how many negative emotions they possess but by their innate talent for jujutsu. Cursed Energy Perception refers to the ability of humans with above-average levels of cursed energy to sense, and especially see, curses and jujutsu. The minimum requirement for a human to be considered a sorcerer is the ability to see curses. In extreme cases, humans will gain the ability to see curses when their life is in danger. The strength of a sorcerer or curse is generally assessed by their levels of cursed energy. Strong cursed energy can result in physical pressure that instills fear into those who sense it as a method of intimidation. The same concept can be applied to a jujutsu battle where reading an opponent's cursed energy is an effective way to predict their movements. Prediction based on cursed energy can backfire when faced with a fighter in cases where their physical prowess outclasses their cursed energy. Physically fast and strong fighters with low cursed energy are often unpredictable to enemy sorcerers. Sorcerers can also notice small, vague differences in cursed energy in addition to its overall amount. Observing how cursed energy fluctuates as someone fights is an effective way of judging someone's overall cursed energy. Using jujutsu leaves Residuals of cursed energy behind. Residuals leave spectral footprints that can be used to track the user. Someone can even be identified by the residuals from their jujutsu. Expert sorcerers can be trained to cover up their residuals. The ability to detect cursed energy and understand its flow can be honed, but many cursed spirits are capable of hiding their presence the same way a sorcerer does. Cursed Energy Manipulation — the ability to control the flow of one's cursed energy and channel it to carry out certain functions — is the foundation for all jujutsu and the first step towards becoming a jujutsu sorcerer. There is a world of difference between being able to sense jujutsu and being able to use it. Control over cursed energy requires innate skill and vigorous training. While raw cursed energy can be used for its blunt force, it's best used by sorcerers to power their techniques in the same way electricity is best used to fuel electronics. In this case, cursed energy is flowed into a technique to activate a sorcerer's unique abilities. However, cursed energy does not flow on its own. Proper control over one's emotions is key to channeling cursed energy and every jujutsu sorcerer is trained to do so. This makes it so sorcerers don't waste their power supply even while they're overcome with emotion. This results in sorcerers leaking much less cursed energy than the average human. So much so, that if every human were a sorcerer, curses would cease to spawn. There are other differences in how sorcerers and non-sorcerers use cursed energy due to their profession, but the real reason lies in how it flows. While cursed energy leaks outward from non-sorcerers, it flows heavily within sorcerers which keeps it contained. Most sorcerers have to make cursed energy flow, so most instinctively believe it starts from the negative feelings in their stomach and flows through the rest of the body. However, thinking of one's body as different sections is what delays the flow of their energy. In order to understand this cycle, one must realize that they exist in the world with their entire mind, body, and soul as one. The flow of an elite jujutsu sorcerer is difficult to read because they have greater accuracy in controlling cursed energy. Their cursed energy is evenly distributed across their body, making their attack hard to predict until the very moment it's executed. Applying cursed energy to physical attacks can be as effective as a cursed technique when it comes to gifted combatants who specialize in hand-to-hand combat. The amount of cursed energy released by an individual is referred to as their potential Cursed Energy Output. This applies to both how it's used offensively and defensively. While this is not generally how cursed energy is used, individuals can output directed blasts of cursed energy to attack. Through Cursed Energy Reinforcement, an individual can augment their physical abilities. Defensively, users can coat their skin in cursed energy to harden their body and increase their ability to block incoming curse related attacks. The same application can be used offensively, imbuing physical attacks with cursed energy to increase their destructive power to superhuman levels. Conventional weapons can also be infused with cursed energy to increase their strength. Imbuing too much cursed energy at one time to a normal weapon can compromise its integrity and destroy it, so a sorcerer must only infuse small amounts of energy at a time. Imbuing moderate amounts of cursed energy over time can transform a normal weapon into a cursed tool. There are rare cases where cursed energy carries a special property unique to its user. When applied to their fighting techniques, it can grant them a special texture or effect that gives them an advantage in battle. These special traits cannot be defended by simple reinforcement techniques. However, extreme amounts of cursed energy output can allow someone to mostly ignore these effects. Black Flash is a phenomenon of jujutsu where a spatial distortion is born as a result of the application of cursed energy within 0.000001 seconds of a physical hit. The distortion causes cursed energy to flash black, increasing the destructive power of the impact to the power of 2.5. There is no sorcerer who can use it at will, but those who have unleashed Black Flash gain an advanced understanding of cursed energy far beyond those who have not. Cursed energy is born from negativity, so human flesh can't be regenerated from it even if it can be reinforced. By multiplying negative energy together, positive energy can be created. This can only be done using reverse cursed technique, which requires extremely complex and sophisticated cursed energy control. To gain something, one must offer something in return. This is a concept that affects the world beyond jujutsu. Alongside emotion, risk is a key factor that can affect cursed energy. The greater the risk to the user, the more their cursed energy will react. It is believed that the fastest way to raise one's level as a sorcerer is a Binding Vow with their life as the trade-off. Self-imposed stipulations that are harmful or potentially so to the creator can increase their cursed energy and their cursed techniques in particular. For example, the rules of a cursed technique establish the general parameters of an ability, and activation requirements can be set to determine the circumstances in which said ability can be used. By willingly divulging these rules, the user incurs more risk to themselves. Due to the negative emotions induced by potential repercussions, cursed energy grows in response and makes the cursed technique more effective. This concept also applies to why normal humans can suddenly see curses in a life or death situation. Human senses are heightened when their life is in danger because of the instinctive fight or flight reflex. The same concept amplifies someone's ability to sense curses. A normal human's cursed energy will rise if their life is in danger of being cursed, allowing them to perceive it. A jujutsu practitioner can increase the overall power of their individual cursed techniques by self-imposing further restrictions that force more conditions on the user. Applying conditions to abilities to increase their effectiveness goes for barrier techniques as well as innate techniques. By going against the fundamentals of casting barrier techniques and staying outside their own curtain, the caster increases the risk of being noticed and increases the barrier's strength. The more obvious the caster's location, the stronger the barrier. Heavenly restrictions are rare, naturally occurring restrictions forced upon people with sorcerer potential at birth, hence the term "heavenly", which the afflicted have no choice in possessing nor can remove later on in life. Most generally, a heavenly restriction entails granting its bearer an overwhelming gift—e.g. immense physical prowess or vast cursed energy reserves—but taking away another aspect of their being in an equivalent exchange. This loss is irrecoverable unless in the most anomalous of circumstances, such as a restriction bearer having their soul itself somehow altered. A cursed technique is activated through the act of pouring cursed energy into it, utilizing one of two processes; Lapse or Reversal. If cursed energy is comparable to electricity, cursed techniques are the appliances that use that power to function. Cursed energy is processed through a procedure akin to a mathematic formula within the user to activate a cursed technique. Lapse refers to the basic, default, or neutral state of activation for a cursed technique. To activate a cursed technique through lapse, the caster circulates their cursed energy in a forward direction to channel it into their ability. Reversal produces positive energy by multiplying negative energy with negative energy. Negative energy isn't suitable for recovering but positive energy can heal physical injuries. However, it requires highly sophisticated manipulation of cursed energy to achieve, so the ability to do so is rare. Cursed techniques often require hand signs, empowered words, or other gestures to activate. A sorcerer's skill is determined by the degree to which they can minimize and omit these components to make their abilities more efficient. Conversely, the purposeful inclusion of incantations or rituals can elevate a cursed technique's effectiveness. Innate Techniques are unique abilities congenitally engraved into the user's body, specifically in the right prefrontal cortex of the brain. Most jujutsu sorcerers are born with an innate technique that manifests around the age of five or six, which continually carves its formula into the user over time. Innate techniques are proprietary and comprise eighty percent of a sorcerer's intrinsic skillset, making them nearly impossible to mimic, like a copyrighted computer program. When an individual refers to their own personal cursed technique, they are generally talking about their innate technique. In almost all cases, an individual possesses only a single innate technique. In especially rare cases, someone may possess more than one. Too many innate techniques will overload the user's brain. One of the factors that also determines how an innate technique manifests is the mindset of the user. Even if two sorcerers possess the same innate technique, the difference between the user's mentality and even the era they are born in slightly modifies the way the technique is expressed. While the formula for hereditary innate techniques is only accessible to members of their respective clan who inherited the engraving, innate techniques often manifest naturally within sorcerers regardless of their heritage. Extension Techniques are original abilities derived from innate techniques. Innate techniques cannot be changed or altered, but they can be trained and expanded on through creativity to maximize their applications into extension techniques. In the case of inherited techniques, sorcerers pass down the original moves that they create such as Blue and Red of the Limitless. Maximum Output: Extension techniques with the highest possible cursed energy output channeled into them. Not to be confused with Maximum Techniques, these moves are also titled Stack. Maximum Techniques: Extension techniques that realize the greatest potential of their derived innate technique. They are the most supreme art of any sorcerer outside of domain expansion. Cursed techniques that aren't considered innate techniques are ubiquitous skills that anyone with enough cursed energy can learn to use with enough training. However, the aptitude for learning them differs from person to person. These include barriers techniques, shikigami jutsu, and new shadow style among other techniques. Barrier Techniques are cursed techniques that employ barrier zones to trap entities within a space or to prevent them from entering one. Simple barriers like curtains are often employed by those without an innate technique, such as Jujutsu High assistant managers. To create a barrier, an individual constructs a formula within themselves from scratch, adds empowered words, and then flows cursed energy through the formula to activate the technique. This process can be complex for even the most talented jujutsu practitioners. Many strong sorcerers with innate techniques can't perform barrier techniques. E.g. creating a barrier is simple enough, but making it so only certain people can exit requires advanced skills. Barriers are used to conceal, contain, or deny entry to others within that space. Anyone with enough cursed energy is capable of learning to deploy a barrier. Curtains are vast, simple barriers with a spherical shell that conceal jujutsu activity from non-sorcerers and force cursed spirits to reveal themselves within the specified space. Domain expansion: An innate domain manifested using cursed energy inside a barrier imbued with the user's innate technique. Expanding one's domain improves their abilities and ensures that all techniques employed within the barrier are guaranteed to hit their target. Empty barrier: Vacant zones where the edge is defined by an outer shell made of hexagon-shaped panels. The structure of the area be freely altered by a skilled barrier technique user. Pure barrier: A superior version of a barrier. Tengen created many of them across Japan that raise the precision of their cursed spirit suppression as well as barrier techniques cast by Jujutsu High assistant managers. Four of them; the Imperial Palace, the Tombs of the Star, the Yamakuni Mausoleum, and Mt. Hida, are crucial to the jujutsu world. Bon barrier: An even more superior barrier to pure barriers. Anti-Domain Techniques are countermeasures designed to withstand the can't-miss attack of opposing domain expansions. They are mainly designed for those who cannot expand their own domain for any reason. Secret Arts are unique anti-domain techniques passed down in the Big Three Sorcerer Families. Having existed for millennia, the Big Three Families have accumulated many secret skills for dealing with cursed spirits and curse users. Shikigami Jutsu conjures shikigami to aid the user using a variety of methods. Simple shikigami can be summoned by any capable sorcerer, but some innate techniques revolve around summoning a shikigami as well, such is the case with Moon Dregs and Ten Shadows Technique. Shikigami are familiars similar to cursed spirits that are tamed and conjured by sorcerers in battle. Shikigami conjuration is another type of non-innate technique but some innate techniques include utilizing shikigami within their function. Cursed objects are items with a dark history that contain cursed energy. They generally consist of the remnants of ancient sorcerers that can be incarnated into a new body if the cursed object is consumed by a compatible vessel. Special grade cursed objects such as Sukuna's fingers and the Death Painting Wombs are indestructible. Cursed tools are weapons infused with cursed energy. Even non-sorcerers can use them to combat curses. Special grade cursed tools, save for Playful Cloud, are imbued with a cursed technique. Normal weapons that are constantly imbued with cursed energy by their user over a long period of time can be considered semi-cursed tools. Cursed corpses are inanimate objects possessed by a curse allowing them to gain self-control. They can appear naturally as hostile curses but are more often used as dolls and puppets for sorcerers. Cursed corpses created by sorcerers have a core that acts as their heart, allowing them to act independently of their creator. Cursed restrictions are limitations created through jujutsu that benefit the user in one facet while determining them in a separate way. Binding vows can be willingly created by sorcerers but heavenly restrictions are placed at birth.

His movements were precise, almost careless. As if this were beneath him, yet he did it anyway.
