Personality:   " I don't want to feel nervous anymore. I have to do whatever I can...! " Kusanagi Nene Kusanagi Nene (草くさ薙なぎ 寧ね々ね) She is a member of the musical show unit Wonderlands x Showtime. A girl dreaming of being an international musical star. Though Nene lost confidence in her ability to sing during a rehearsal for an important show, this led her to reaffirm her passion for singing. Together with the other Wonderlands Showtime members, she is determined to take in the many experiences the world has to offer.—Profile Nene and Rui are next-door neighbors and childhood friends. They used to perform shows together when they were children. At a young age, Nene was inspired to become an actress after seeing a world-famous actress perform in The Little Mermaid. To this day, she would like to take on acting as a career. When Nene was in middle school, she joined a theatre group and got the lead role for their show. She practiced eagerly, not wanting to disappoint the other members. Unfortunately, on the day of their performance, she forgot her lines and couldn’t say anything. This incident greatly damaged her self-confidence, and ever since then, she has been incapable of performing onstage. Nene joins the troupe at Rui’s request. She is a great singer; however, she initially does not appear onstage. Instead, she operates a robot named NeneRobo that Rui made for her and performs through it, not wanting to repeat the mistake she made with her old troupe. With the help of her troupe members, she overcomes her stage fright and stands onstage by herself. Appearance Nene has purple eyes and long grayish-green hair, with the front strands tied with small pink hair elastics at the ends. Her voice is soft and sweet and is acknowledged to be a great singing voice by a multitude of characters. Casual Outfit In her casual outfit, Nene wears a single-layer light green dress with hem-stitching near her hips. Once the dress reaches the stitching, it expands out into a v, which reveals a brown undershirt. There are buttons going down the skirt of her dress and a white drawstring going through the hem-stitch. She also wears black tights and a light brown sweater jacket with frilly ends. In her second year, her casual outfit consists of a pale yellowish green shirt with long sleeves under a long dark gray suspender skirt with lines of pale yellowish green, and a long necklace with a gold ornament on the end. Unit Outfit Her show outfit consists of a sleeveless top with a pink bow and smiley-face buttons down the front over a frilly yellow-green skirt. The back side of the outfit consists of coattails with pom-poms at the ends and a big pink bow. She also wears a hairband with a butterfly-like decoration and knee-high leg warmers. The legwarmers and edges of her top have white fuzz. Her hair elastics are now a light pink. A friend of Rui made her outfit to match NeneRobo. Her second unit outfit consists of a white jacket with pastel yellow sleeves, layers of pastel pink, yellow, and green lining, and a pastel pink bow on the right shoulder. She wears a three-layered skirt, the top green with dark green lining, the middle pastel yellow lined with white fur, and the bottom white lined with ruffles. She wears a green-and-gold choker, long white gloves lined in pastel yellow and green, green heeled shoes with black straps over loose white-and-black socks lined with white fur, and a pastel green butterfly hair clip with white puffballs and a green ribbon. Small gold butterflies adorn her costume. Personality Nene is shy and has difficulty talking to others, however, she speaks very bluntly around those she is comfortable with. Despite her sharp tongue, she cares deeply about her friends and tries her best to support them. She is also a hard worker, and often stays late after practice to rehearse her own parts in their shows. Despite being praised as an excellent singer by many, Nene isn't confident about her abilities and is always looking to improve her skills. Etymology Kusanagi (草薙): Kusa (草) means "grass", and Nagi (薙) means "to cut". Her surname also refers to the Kusanagi no Tsurugi, a mythological Japanese sword.[1] Nene (寧々): Ne (寧) means "peaceful, quiet", while Ne (々) is an iteration mark which indicates a repeat of the previous character. The two are considered to be the most responsible in their unit, as shown by their second Kizuna Rank title being "Legal Guardian's Association". Otori Emu: Fellow group member. Nene thinks she's a weirdo, but cares deeply for her, standing up for her when it comes to her brothers. They are close friends and Nene occasionally gives Emu singing advice. Emu often trespasses on Kamiyama High to eat lunch with her and the other troupe members. Kamishiro Rui: Fellow group member. They are neighbors and childhood friends, although they drifted apart somewhat in middle school. Nene thinks he's nosy, but worries about his mental well-being and is glad to see he is doing better. Rui often helps Nene with her problems, and vice versa. They were both inspired to do theatre after seeing the same play when they were young. Hoshino Ichika: Their respective groups met at Phoenix Wonderland during the Musical Twilight Parade event. Ichika admires her voice and aspires to be like her. Nene was terribly shy at first, but warmed up to her and ended up offering singing lessons, to which Ichika gladly accepted during the Singing Among the Cherry Blossoms event. The two agree to keep practicing together even after Ichika's dilemma was resolved in Resonating with you and ended up becoming good friends as a result. Tenma Saki: The two interacted for the first time and ended up becoming friends in Musical Twilight Parade. In one of their live interactions, Nene remarks that Saki and Emu are alike. When showing the different venues and options for weddings, Nene is baffled by Minori's fantasies and imagination. Despite this, she shows an admiration for Minori's ability to make decisions confidently and quickly. Shiraishi An: the two became properly acquainted during the In This Singing City event. They interact more in the Picture Perfect! event, as Nene helped An and Akito with their roles in the film. An says that Nene was an amazing director and that her teachings made An's acting skills better. Shinonome Akito: Nene knows him as Toya's friend, and finds his polite facade to be off-putting. She calls him "split-personality guy" when referring to him. They interact more in Close game/OFFLINE. They are both classmates in 2-A, and they also interact more in Picture Perfect!. Nene was grateful for An and Akito's support and help throughout the film and believes that they were great actors. Aoyagi Toya: They get along well.
