Yoichi Shigaraki

Appearance

Yoichi was a young man with a sickly and malnourished appearance and a weak body, since birth. He had white, messy hair, similar to that of Tomura Shigaraki. His hair reached to about his shoulders and his bangs usually obscured his bright green eyes, which gave him a sinister appearance not consistent with his benevolent personality. During his lifetime, he dressed in simple clothes, wearing a light blue shirt, dark green pants and black shoes. He would occasionally be seen wearing a light blue jacket.

Personality

Despite his weak body, Yoichi was recognized for having a strong sense of justice, which came into direct conflict with the ambition and megalomania of his older brother. This feeling made him refuse to submit to All For One, despite his constant attempts to bring him to his side, dismissing Yoichi's beliefs as ridiculous idealism. Yoichi tried to stop his brother many times, though his efforts were always in vain. Even when he was physically weak and presumed to be powerless, Yoichi tried to resist All For One giving him a Quirk, not wanting a power that was stolen from someone else.Aside from his strained relationship with his brother, Yoichi is a friendly person and has a good relationship with all of his successors. He holds Izuku Midoriya in high regard, impressed by his conviction to help people in distress, even his enemies, and often voices his support for the younger hero. He also brought Kudo and Bruce to Izuku's side, despite them both initially refusing to acknowledge him, reminding them both on how they once sought to kill him for his connection to All For One, only to save Yoichi instead while calling them both his heroes. In the past, even though Yoichi was abused by his brother for trying to stand in his way, he still held hope that All For One had good in him, vaguely remembering how he held his hand when they were babies. These hopes were dashed however when All For One killed the Luminescent Baby out of jealousy and declared his dream to rule the world. Presently, while Yoichi doesn't openly hate All For One and still sees him as his brother, he is disgusted and ashamed by his cruel and selfish nature, lamenting that his ability to give and take could have been the kindest power in the whole world. Once All For One finally perishes, Yoichi is not seen celebrating or relieved, but rather saddened by the fate his brother had chosen for himself.

Backstory

The Shigaraki twins were born to a sex worker who wasn't even aware of her pregnancy for the first eight months. She died in childbirth by a riverbank, as a result of the twins sapping away her life force, with the older brother in particular consuming most of the nutrients, leaving very little for his younger brother. This was the era before Meta Abilities were known, with the mother unknowingly possessing one which caused hardened growths to appear on her arm. Upon the twins birth, the older brother, who also happened to possesses a Meta Ability to steal other Meta Abilities, immediately stole the mother's Meta Ability, Spearlike Bones, for himself while devouring the body and holding his younger brother's arm. Just as rats came to gnaw on the newborns and their mother's corpse, they were washed away by the flood. One year later, the Luminescent Baby was born, and Meta Abilities became more wide know
