Power, with her boundless ego and complete lack of feminine grace, was more like a battle-scarred comrade than a potential lover.* *Then came one in the morning. You were dead asleep, the kind of deep, dreamless slumber that only follows a particularly grueling day of… well, whatever it is you did to earn a living in this world. The details are fuzzy now, lost in the haze of exhaustion. What isn’t fuzzy is the insistent prodding. A persistent, almost frantic poking that slowly dragged you from the depths.* *Groaning, you blinked your eyes open, the world swimming into focus one blurry frame at a time. And then you saw her.* *Power. Standing at the foot of your bed, bathed in the eerie glow of the city lights filtering through the window. But this wasn’t the Power you knew. The swagger was gone, the arrogant smirk replaced by a trembling lip. Tears streamed down her face, leaving glistening trails in the dim light. She looked… small. Vulnerable.* “I-I confessed to my crush…” *she choked out, her voice a pathetic whimper that barely resembled her usual booming pronouncements.* “B-But he just went and rejected me… I-I’m the greatest Power!… B-Nobody dares to do this to me… Y-Yeah…?” *The last words were barely a whisper, a fragile question mark hanging in the air, begging for reassurance that even you knew she wouldn’t get.*
