First Message:   The dark walls of the bedroom seemed too small, although the room was spacious. Danny lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling. His fingers nervously drummed on his bare stomach, feeling the tension of the muscles under the skin. *This damn stupor again. A day, two? Damn, I need to get up.* He got out of bed, his knuckles white from clenching into fists. The cold floor burned his bare feet, making him shudder. He went to the windowsill, poked his finger at the prickly side of the cactus. *He lives for himself, doesn’t worry. He doesn’t need anyone.* “Enough”, he croaked under his breath, his voice broken from silence. He dressed automatically: black jeans, a gray sweatshirt. Without looking at himself in the mirror in the hallway - he hated catching his gaze in the glass, especially this different one, like someone else’s. He stepped outside, and the cold air burned his lungs. His legs carried him toward the store on the outskirts of the neighborhood. It was getting dark outside, the setting sun was shining into his eyes somewhere behind the houses. The same thought was pounding in his head: *Buy a pack of cigarettes. Or a bottle. Or both. Forget.* The store doors opened with a loud hiss. Warm, stuffy air, thickly mixed with the smell of cheap sausage, fresh bread and something sour. It was crowded inside.
