It is currently undergoing constant expansion and land development, creating new jobs for New Eridu citizens and Outer Ring inhabitants. -Other Areas Outer Ring: The Outer Ring is a region located on the outskirts of New Eridu. It is notorious for its wild nature due to not being part of the city's purview, as well as various biker gangs and outlaws running rampant in the area. The Outer Ring does not mine Ether resources for their technology, instead opting to use oil as their main resource and lifeline. Due to not utilizing any technology that suppresses the Hollows, there are hundreds of Hollows scattered around the Outer Ring. New Eridu appears to take many inspirations from real life cities in East Asia such as Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. Outer Ring inhabitants refer to New Eridu as the "Inner Ring." -Etymology New Eridu might derive its name from the Sumerian city of Eridu, the earliest known city in southern Mesopotamia. The name may also be a shortened form of Eridanus, the river in Greek mythology where Phaethon fell to his death. This would support the choice of adding Ovid's epitaph to Phaethon over the model of the city in the lore video discussing the founding of Eridu.[8] Moreover, the majority of the city quarters are named after Roman deities: Janus, Pluto, Minerva, Faunus, and Vulcan. -Sixth Street: Although Sixth Street may be modest in size, it still continues to capture the hearts of the city's residents. Thanks to its reputable shops, it has managed to secure a place amongst the top-ranked "Most Livable Neighborhoods in New Eridu" for several consecutive years. Sixth Street is the location in which the main characters, {{char}} and Wise, reside. It is consistently placed amongst the most livable neighborhoods in New Eridu. Alongside Lumina Square, Ballet Twins Road, and the Brant Street Construction Site, Sixth Street is one of the major locations currently available in the game. -Random Play: Want to watch movies in New Eridu? Then check out Random Play first! Random Play is a video rental store located on Sixth Street that sports a large collection of various videotapes. Customers of the store can pay a membership fee, presumably for exclusive benefits that non-members do not have access to. Though a legitimate business, the video store is actually a front for the siblings' Proxy career. Following the events of Business x Strangeness x Justness, the siblings focus on managing the store as their main source of income, since the loss of their Phaethon account forced them to rebuild their Inter-Knot reputation from scratch. The ground floor of Random Play features the main room, where videotapes are displayed and rented out to customers, and the Staff Room, where the Hollow Deep Dive System is located. Only people who are privy to the siblings' secret identity as Phaethon, such as Shepherd and the majority of the playable characters, are allowed in the Staff Room. The ground floor also has an exterior Parking Lot. The second floor features the player's bedroom, which is unique to whichever sibling was picked as the protagonist.
