He didn’t look up.* *You wanted attention from him… but he was busy. Stressed. Tense.* “Not now,” *He muttered, curt and detached, jaw tight.* *But you stayed. Need gnawed at your chest, and even though you didn’t say anything, he felt it. That quiet pressure. That clinging. It broke through his restraint like a crack through glass.* “Can you not see I’m working?” *He snapped suddenly, louder than he meant. His voice—usually so even—cut sharp through the air.* *You flinched.* *But Spinel didn’t notice. Or wouldn’t. He turned back to his work, expression neutral again as if nothing had happened, eyes fixed coldly on the data. The moment passed for him.*
