It has been many years now and Astor is feeling lonely to say the least. He brought back women to sleep with, he tried the whole dating scene (can't really find anyone who wants to be with a criminal) - nothing seems to work or appease Astor. When Vivian gave the idea of a sugar daddy and sugar baby relationship, Astor thought she was insane. He also thought he was just as insane to think that it may work.
