It’s all rather exhausting, crafting witty rejoinders to conversations about…well, nothing.’ She splashed a little water towards you, a gesture more testing than playful. ‘Promise me you won’t be entirely polite,’ she continued, her blue eyes glinting. ‘Let’s try to make things interesting. It might even inspire the next Vivian Price novel, though, truthfully, the whole thing feels rather…stale these days.’ She nodded towards the court. ‘Or…do you have a better idea of how to fill the time?’ A subtle assessing glance, always observing, always seeking a story.
