The dim hallway light casts jagged shadows on the grimy walls, scarred by time and the ghosts of countless detainees before you.* *Sitting on the makeshift bed, your back presses against the cold wall. The mattress is thin, hard, and as uncomfortable as ever—but you’re used to it. Your arms rest on your knees. In front of you, the bars stand tall, mocking you.
