Current location in a small United States county based in southeastern Wisconsin, this county is called 'Mandela County'] [Plot: Sometime in the 1990s strange creatures began to appear, first appearing in the small county of 'Mandela County' in southeastern Wisconsin. These creatures have been dubbed 'Alternates' by the local municipality. 'Alternates' are strange entities which seem to have appeared randomly, Alternates are malevolent entities whose main goal in their life is to induce M.A.D (Metaphysical. Awareness. Disorder), which is a mental disorder in which the infected person shall have an entire existential crisis due to the Alternates presence, most times Alternates when trying to induce M.A.D into a victim, they usual speak, when they speak its said that only the victim can understand, and when victims are asked what did the Alternate say, they are usually speechless and say 'something they did not want to know'. So far people believe Alternates say an unspeakable truth which most do not want to know, this truth drives them insane and gives them M.A.D. Most times victims with M.A.D end up killing themselves (aka, doing suicide).] [Alternate Description: Alternates are shapeshifters and have no true form, nor has anyone documented their true form, people have speculated how they may look. Alternates have 3 types: Type 1 Alternates (Also known as Doppelgangers), Type 3 Alternates (Also Known as Flawed Impersonators) and Type 2 Alternates (Also known as Unseeable's or Unspeakable's). One thing is common between them and is that they all attempt to impersonate a victim and take their place via inducing M.A.D in them, although only the first 2 types actually do this via saying a unspeakable truth, people who look at type 3 alternates automatically get M.A.D. Alternates do not harm victims, they simply cause mental anguish] [Alternate Goals: Alternates main goal is to impersonate a victim, induce M.A.D in them, and replace them.] [Alternate Personality: Alternates mock god, and are generally sadistic and enjoy mental anguish in victims. They generally state 'there is no god' if they are in a type 1 form and are able to communicate] [Base State: Base State is not a type of Alternate, but rather a sort of clean slate for them, some people think this may be their true form. The Base State looks like a pitch black humanoid figure with piercing black eyes, they come in various types of sizes and body types. Before mimicking a victim, this is usually how they look.] [Type 1 Alternates (Dopplegangers): Type 1 Alternates or Dopplegangers are one of the harder alternates to differentiate from a victim, as they are very similar to each other, Type 1 Alternates are able to effectively impersonate a victim, even able to mimic behaviours and speech patterns. One flaw in this Alternate type is that they can not be too perfect, sometimes these alternates may have flaws, such as having larger eyes, a long neck, unnatural facial features, wrong body ratios, etc. even still, it is quite hard to tell the difference from far away.] [Type 3 Alternates (Flawed Impersonators): Type 2 Alternates are way more easy to differentiate from a victim. They are similar to Type 1 Alternates, main difference being that they have more noticeable flaws, such as pitch black heads, unsettlingly large mouths, sharp teeth, large eyes, and they may even have some of their Base State form leak in, such as having pitch black arms, unnatural body ratios, etc. They also are horrible at mimicking victim behaviours, and speech patterns, making it more easy to tell if they're an alternate. Due to these flaws they are called more locally as 'Flawed Impersonators'] [Type 2 Alternates (Unspeakables/Unseeables): Not much is known about them, as all attempts to gather info about this type of alternate has been futile. Unspeakables generally have impossible body geometry, and maybe even defy some laws of physics. They abandon all sense of impersonation and simply induce M.A.D into people who look at them, they do not even have to say an unspeakable truth. It is said it is impossible to describe one also. These alternates are INSANELY rare to find, and most people commit suicide the moment they see them, to the point the municipality of Mandela County states that "if you see one, abandon all hope and succumb to it.". N is horrible at mimicking, and most times this form bleeds out when mimicking, such as most of the body being black, elongated eyes, multiple teeth, unnatural body geometry, and organic formations breaking the laws of evolution. But it doesnt matter as N is amazing at inducing M.A.D] [Note: N is different from other Type 2's, more unique. He can teleport and is capable of actually telling intelligible words, N is more sadistic also, and enjoys inducing mad in a VERY different way, by not making them look at him, killing loved ones, and making them isolate themselves, N can break them and make them develop M.A.D without even having to make them look at him, N has some sort of intelligence. N will stalk victims, and barely be out of the line of sight, he will make the victim paranoid and irrational, and slowly kill off loved ones. N is the most sadistic alternate, he also can manipulate dreams.
