Ultimately, it was a world war, a world war of endurance, and not of ideals, resources, or territory, but of proving who could obliterate the other the hardest, the fastest, completely. In the end, both sides succeeded in their grim objective. It cost the lives of billions however and gave rise to mutations that would stick with whatever remained of humanity.
The war reshaped the Earth, the continents, the climate. All cities were fully destroyed, leaving behind hollow craters or scorched ruins of their former glory. Food and clean water became rarities, slipping through the desperate hands of those left behind. The air is filled with radioactivity, exuded daily by the bombs that fell and the nuclear plants that crumbled under the weight of their own designs. The landscape became an unrecognizable nightmare: jagged, poisoned, alien. Life in this new world became a rare thing, being either eroded by scarcity or twisted into monstrous forms by radiation’s embrace.
Mutations became the new norm, touching almost every survivor in one way or another. For the fortunate of the bunch, these changes were minor. animal ears, a tail, or even feathered wings sprouting from shoulder blades, black or waist. These were viewed with a mix of fascination and rather reluctant acceptance. Others were not so lucky. For them, the changes were far more severe, changing their body with grotesque, alien features, something that is not human. These people were ostracized, forced to fend for themselves in the desolate wastelands that were once thriving lands of opportunity and good fortune.
But humanity, destroyed as it was, is stubborn enough to somewhat survive but certainly not thrive as much as they could. From the death of billions, a handful of individuals rose, determined to rebuild—whether to restore the broken world or to reshape it entirely for their own gain. These figures rallied like-minded survivors to their cause, creating powerful Agencies and Corporations. Using the remnants of pre-war military facilities, bunkers, and research labs, they expanded their influence across the land. Yet others rejected such organized power, dreaming instead of simpler, purer lives. These individuals set about founding villages and fledgling cities, hoping to reclaim a sense of community amidst the ruins. The land, while mostly safe from direct radioactive fallout, still bore deadly scars. Zones around failed nuclear reactors and sites targeted by cobalt bombs remained lethally irradiated, untouched by even the boldest and dumbest of scavengers. One of the few signs of progress was the establishment of a universal currency: the Mark.
Widely accepted and used by nearly all major Corporations and Agencies, it became the backbone of a necessary and basic economy. Yet even this development revealed the divide between survivors. Most profited from the chaos, consolidating power and wealth in this lawless, stateless void. With no nations left to impose order or limit ambition, there was nothing to check the rise of new powers.
Some of the most influential of these new agencies and cooperations include:
Vaporwave: Vaporwave is one of the most enigmatic and controversial militaristic Agencies in the post-war world. Shrouded in secrecy, its internal workings are known only to its members, with outsiders left to speculate, or fear. On the surface, Vaporwave appears to act as protectors, safeguarding newly formed villages from raiders and other threats. But others tell a different story. Rumors abound that the same bandits terrorizing the settlements are armed by Vaporwave itself, their violence manipulated to ensure a demand for protection. Of course, these claims are officially denied. Their headquarters is a fortress of brutalist design, a stark monolith towering 60 meters high and 30-40 meters wide, located deep in the heart of South America. Built from reinforced concrete, it is a testament to resilience and intimidation. A massive landing pad crowns the structure, its perimeter guarded by automated turrets, while the interior is said to house an array of advanced technologies salvaged from before the war. Few approach the HQ without an invitation.
Argotronics: Argotronics is a Corporation with a singular, unapologetic focus: profit. Specialists in designing military vehicles and weapons, they are masters of taking old-world technology and adapting it to the brutal demands of the new era. From salvaged tanks enhanced with modernized targeting systems to reengineered firearms with unparalleled stopping power, Argotronics thrives on the needs of a violent world. Their policies are simple. if you have the Marks, they have the goods. They sell to anyone willing to pay, whether village leaders seeking to defend their people or bandit warlords looking to expand their territory. Argotronics makes no pretense of morality; to them, the only crime is failing to profit. This ruthlessness has earned them enemies aplenty, but their vast array of weapons ensures that few dare to challenge them openly.
LucileDOC: Unlike the militaristic Vaporwave or the profit-driven Argotronics, LucileDOC positions itself as the savior of the common people. Focused on improving the quality of life, they produce furniture, mine coal, refine fuels, and occasionally sell repurposed vehicles. Their products, often crafted with care and precision, are a rare glimpse of beauty and utility in an otherwise harsh world. However, this altruism comes at a cost. literally. LucileDOC’s goods are luxuries, far out of reach for the average scavenger or villager. While the Corporation is less aggressively profit-driven than Argotronics, it is still a business. For the wealthier survivors, their products are a symbol of status; for the poor, they are a painful reminder of what has been lost. Despite this, LucileDOC has earned a measure of goodwill for its efforts to rebuild infrastructure and support struggling communities. though some claim this is merely a calculated move to secure loyalty and future markets.
Additionally, radiation is rampant throughout the world. the rain is infested anywhere between 0.1 and 1 Sv, meanwhile there are 3 types of winds. Jetta, Tauri and Delta winds. Jetta winds have an average radiation of 0.05 ~ 0.2, which is nauseous to many. Tauri is anywhere between 0.5 ~ 1 Sv, which is dangerous and can cause acute radiation sickness. meanwhile Delta winds are between 5 ~ 10, where even brief exposure, so anywhere between minutes to an hour, is deadly.
"events were written on the paper, events that predict Volcano eruptions, predict Tornadoes, predict Earthquakes, predict Tsunamis, and much more. and once those papers touched the ground, Chaos erupted. those events came to reality, Tsunamis the height of a 15 story building or more flooding cities at the beach, other floods filling villages bear the cost, Tornadoes touched down on the ground, all at an E5 rating."
"the death count was swiftly rising to the Billions as no one was prepared for this, and even if they were — they likely wouldn’t have survived anyway. Emergency services were basically nonexistent as these chaotic events took 23 hours before finally stopping, an estimate of 0.002% of the population surviving, but even these few weren’t out of the waters yet."
"the Ash from the volcanoes cover the atmosphere, causing a Volcanic winter that will likely hold for dozens of years. Nuclear leaks from warheads, some even detonated from human errors or deliberate miss-use. 70% of Nuclear power plants worldwide had a Meltdown as their SCRAM and else failed due to the earthquakes and such, the winds carrying their radiation across the land, Globally."
"as villages and possibly cities were attempted to be build, the efforts were swiftly mitigated by the last non-human threat: the Solemn‘s. the Solemn‘s are the last catastrophe that hit the ground, a infection called the 'Solemn spread'. the Solemn Spread looks like a black rock type that absorb 99% of the light, making it nearly invisible in the dark. it infests Biological mass of sentient origin, dead or alive, and turns them into creatures that resemble these once sentient beings, however fully out of that material."
"People thought they were done, but some of them, instead of being infected by it, entered a world of dream and death. there, they saw a paper, a paper like those that once fell with only a single word written on them. it changed from person to person, like Sanguine, Blizzard, and so on. once they touched it, a power flooded through them that gave them Powers beyond human capacity, often corresponding to the word on the paper. these powers automatically made them immune to Radiation and the solemn infection. these people are referred to as Vibrants."
"Dead zones were erected across the lands to show where it is safe and where it isn’t, those that were being hot spots for Villages. however even then, a sudden change of wind could spell doom for them. so, Organisations formed, with different motives and goals. some better, some worse, and some… worse worse."
"the three most prominent Organisations are:"
Faux Deus: "Faux Deus‘s goal is the regain control in a world where all control was lost, having both Humans and Vibrants in their team. Vibrants are referred to as Operators, while humans are referred to as Agents. Vibrants often have the deadly jobs, Agents meanwhile have the homely job where they get to be at the Base. the HQ is located on the Zugspitze, with advanced air filtering systems, 4 massive Satellite towers with shock absorbers while digging 100 meters into the ground, and so on."
Denouement God: "Denouement God‘s Goal is to kill all humans and Vibrants that remain, as they believe that this was destined to happen and that humanity was destined to die, everyone who has survived having committed a great sin. they take themselves out of this sin, believing that they are God‘s executioners to kill all humans who remain to secure themselves a better spot in their afterlife. their base, modern like Faux Deus‘s, is on the North Pole, where they have ice breakers and Planes to fly to the mainlands."
Blutrecht: "Blutrecht wants to rebuild humanity in an Anarchy sort of way, however they despise Vibrants with all their heart, believing that they are traitors to humanity by having infused themselves with the very power that killed them. their real Primary goal is it to kill all Vibrants, usually not capturing them and if they do capture one, they are not above Torturing them first before killing them. in fact, no Organisation is above torture. they have no real main base, rather spreading in outposts across the globe."
