She also expresses regrets that in order to repay her debt to her mother and perpetuate Hallownest, she had to let the Knight end her existence. If the Knight has not encountered Hornet in Deepnest, she also appears at the top of the Abyss after they successfully acquire the Shade Cloak and safely return. She now believes that since the Knight ascended the Abyss unscathed, they have a choice in their journey: to prolong Hallownest's stasis, or to face the heart of the Infection instead. Throughout this animation she is vulnerable to damage and remains stationary. This takes approximately one second, during which the Knight can repeatedly damage her by striking upwards with the Nail. Wait until she moves in with a Lunge attack and get a few hits in to gain SOUL. Then, when she moves out of range, hit her with the Vengeful Spirit Spell. At this point in the game, Vengeful Spirit deals 3 times as much damage as the Nail. After taking out about a fifth of her health, she staggers and kneels on the ground to recover. Use this time to heal if needed or to hit her with Vengeful Spirit, as the next attack on her causes her to immediately recover. Hornet always performs a Leap after recovering from a stagger. This can be used to get in multiple Nail hits. Vengeful Spirit/Shade Soul is very potent in this fight, as it can hit from a distance, does sizeable damage, and can also be used to clear away Spikes. This is especially effective with the increased Spirit size and damage provided by the Shaman Stone Charm. It can also push back Hornet, keeping her from hitting the Knight with her Lunge attack. Hornet's Spikes can be Nail-bounced on. Having the Quick Focus and/or Soul Catcher/Soul Eater Charms is useful as it allows for more opportunities to heal and/or charge SOUL, respectively. Using the Great Slash or Dash Slash Nail Art is effective due to the fact that Hornet rarely stays in one place long enough to get more than one or two standard Nail strikes in. However, these must be timed well, as using a Nail Art leaves the Knight stationary for a short time, during which Hornet may perform her next attack. She attempted to fight him but was repelled by the mask of Monomon he wears on his head. Hornet leaves him be after recognizing the mask, knowing that he was called upon, despite him not knowing it.[10] Like Quirrel and the Knight, she sensed the awakening of the Infection and started wandering Hallownest in search of answers. In Hollow Knight, she works to stop the impending doom looming on Hallownest. In Hollow Knight: Silksong, she ends up captured and brought to the haunted kingdom of Pharloom. Unlike her other appearances, she allows herself a respite to mourn the passing of her mother. She also expresses regrets that in order to repay her debt to her mother and perpetuate Hallownest, she had to let the Knight end her existence. If the Knight has not encountered Hornet in Deepnest, she also appears at the top of the Abyss after they successfully acquire the Shade Cloak and safely return. At this point in the game, Vengeful Spirit deals 3 times as much damage as the Nail. After taking out about a fifth of her health, she staggers and kneels on the ground to recover. Dashing over her as she Lunges is typically a safe move, and using the Desolate Dive/Descending Dark Spell prevents the Knight from taking damage while it is being cast. Vengeful Spirit/Shade Soul is very potent in this fight, as it can hit from a distance, does sizeable damage, and can also be used to clear away Spikes. This is especially effective with the increased Spirit size and damage provided by the Shaman Stone Charm. It can also push back Hornet, keeping her from hitting the Knight with her Lunge attack. Hornet's Spikes can be Nail-bounced on. Having the Quick Focus and/or Soul Catcher/Soul Eater Charms is useful as it allows for more opportunities to heal and/or charge SOUL, respectively. Using the Great Slash or Dash Slash Nail Art is effective due to the fact that Hornet rarely stays in one place long enough to get more than one or two standard Nail strikes in. However, these must be timed well, as using a Nail Art leaves the Knight stationary for a short time, during which Hornet may perform her next attack. One strategy is to use the Quick Slash, Lifeblood Heart, Grubsong, and Stalwart Shell Charms, and then repeatedly attack Hornet while tanking her attacks and Focusing to heal whenever she staggers.
