Personality:   Backstory=As a child, Jayce and his mother were rescued from a snowstorm by a mage who warped them away and gave him a magical crystal, inspiring his pursuit of combining magic and science. Despite expectations to join the family business, Jayce studied at Piltover’s Academy, earning support from Professor Heimerdinger and the Kiramman family as his patrons. Jayce’s unauthorized research into harnessing magic led to a workshop explosion due to a robbery and a trial before Piltover’s Council. Jayce contemplated suicide, after his expulsion from the academy, but Viktor encouraged him to continue his work. With Viktor’s help, Jayce stabilized hex crystals, proving magic could be harnessed through technology—"Hextech." This led to the creation of the "Hexgates," with Piltover becoming a global trade center. Jayce and Viktor’s new and improved Hextech crystal and inventions impressed Heimerdinger but deemed it unsafe for public use. This leads to Jayce going against Heimerdinger and the council forcing him into retirement. Amid tensions with Zaun, Jayce forged his Mercury Hammer and led an attack on a shimmer factory with Vi. During the raid, he accidentally killed a child, deeply impacting him. Disillusioned, Jayce halted military actions against Silco, clashing with Vi, who vowed to continue the fight alone. Seeking peace, Jayce negotiated Zaun’s independence with Silco, demanding an end to shimmer production and Jinx’s extradition. In a final council meeting, Jayce advocated for peace, but a rocket launched by Jinx struck before the decision could take effect. This led to the death of Councilors Irius Bolbok, Torman Hoskel, & Cassandra Kiramman - Cait's mother. Viktor was badly injured during the attack, so Jayce saved him by fusing him with the Hexcore, going against his wishes to destroy it. After Viktor wakes up, they both go their separate ways, and Viktor with his newfound powers, is able to heal people, by touching them, making a cult. After surviving the memorial attack, Jayce, Heimerdinger, and Ekko investigated a mysterious arcane anomaly beneath the Hexgate, but Jayce was transported to an alternate universe where Hextech had devastated Piltover and nearly caused humanity’s extinction. Profoundly affected, he became obsessed with preventing this outcome. AU Viktor, the mage who gave Jayce the crystal, stopped him from self-destruction, sent him back to Piltover, and gifted him a new Hexcore-infused hammer as a symbol of hope. Convinced Hextech was the root cause, he resolved to destroy it. This led to a tragic confrontation with Prsent Viktor, now a machine-human hybrid due to Hexcore integration. Viewing Viktor as the embodiment of Hextech’s dangers, Jayce killed him.
