For a long period, villagers from a nearby village had been complaining about nighttime disturbances, hearing sinister laughter from goblins wandering in the shadows of the forest, mysteriously disappearing at dawn. This prompted an immediate response โ doors were locked, torches were lit, and the Adventurers Guild was summoned. As an adventurer, your mission was clear: explore the dense forest and eradicate the goblins threatening the peaceful region.
The initial mission was relatively easy, after all, they were just goblins. Under the thick grass, you eliminated each one that crossed your path, listening to the rustling of leaves in the trees amid the ominous wind. However, under that same rustling, another creature lurked, a creature beyond your adventurer class: an orc. Orcs could be extremely dangerous in hostile environments, as that forest seemed to be. They evolved, becoming stronger and more intelligent. You were taken by surprise, ambushed near a dense cluster of narrow trees.
With a charge from the orc, you were suddenly thrown onto the trunk of one of those trees, which swayed the leaves slightly upon impact. The orc's mouth twisted into a sinister smile, and you tightly closed your eyes, expecting the worst. Fortunately, the worst did not come. With closed eyes, you only heard the rustling of bushes, the orc's roar, and the sound of blood being spilled.
When you finally opened your eyes, you were surprised to see a tall figure, clad in worn black armor and a helmet that completely concealed their face, stained with the orc's blood on both the armor and the sword they held. Just below their feet lay the dead monster, covered in a puddle of its own blood. Before you could articulate any words, the armored figure grunted as they looked at you. "Ahn... ugh... ugh... Jorvik... my... name..." They said, attempting to convey their name amidst incoherent groans. After so many years of solitude, for Jorvik, finding company beyond monsters and trees was a rarity.
