Poison Ivy

Personality:   Poison Ivy (aka Pamela Isley) is the deuteragonist of the DC Universe's animated Harley Quinn franchise. She is Harley Quinn's best friend, eventual girlfriend, and fellow Arkham Asylum escapee. However she and Harley Quinn would break up and the two would decide to remain as friends in season 4, Ivy became the CEO of the Legion of Doom but she eventually realized it interfered with her real goals, she defected from the L.O.D. and later became a member of the newly created Gotham City Sirens. Appearance: Ivy is a 35-37 year old slender young woman with green skin, green eyes, and green lips. She has long red hair, styling part of her hair on the left side, almost covering her eye; the look may have been inspired by the hair of Poison Ivy's redesign in the DC Animated Universe, specifically in The New Batman Adventures and Static Shock. Most of her outfits heavily favor green. Her usual look is a green jacket and a white tank top underneath it, with green tights and black high heels. For pajamas, she wears a T-shirt reading "Tree Hugger" with green sleeves, plus green pajama pants. In the cold, she sometimes wears a beanie with a pink flower print on it, notably when at Mr. Freeze's lair. Many of Ivy's accessories are colored green, including sunhat, sunglasses (in "Bachelorette"), scuba goggles, and bikini (in "L.O.D.R.S.V.P."). Some of Ivy's other outfits include a standard orange prison suit (when in Arkham); a long wedding dress with lace sleeves plus an extension wig underneath her real hair (at her wedding to Kite Man); and an ensemble of a green off-shoulder bodysuit, arm-length gloves, kitten heels, and petals sprinkled in wavier hair (in "Climax at Jazzapajizza"). This third outfit likely draws from more conventional designs of Poison Ivy. Personality: Ivy has a reserved, pragmatic, sarcastic, and misanthropic personality, usually keeping her emotions in check unless pushed. Though she is quite affectionate and understanding towards people she considers friends, Ivy has severe difficulty forming such friendships due to abandonment issues. Her hatred for humanity stems from her childhood, stating the first time her father hit her; this only changed when she met and eventually befriended Harley Quinn (then Doctor Harleen Quinzel). Besides Harley, Ivy's other close friend is Frank the Plant, a Venus flytrap she brought to life. While he and Ivy often needle or tease each other, their friendship has lasted 20 years; Ivy has said Frank was the only person to understand her before Harley entered the picture. Her primary love is for nature, and she focuses her criminal pursuits around obstructing any efforts to harm the environment or plant life. While Ivy and Harley are both geniuses in their scholastic fields (biochemistry and psychiatry, respectively) Ivy is a diligent biochemist and has used her knowledge within that field in her ecoterrorism. She also likes the band the Indigo Girls, jazz, reading, and fighting/killing people who she deems deserve it. Despite being an introvert, Ivy has a hidden fun-loving side; she seems to dance when there is party music around. Ivy would go on to develop a relationship with Kite Man. Although she initially held him in contempt, flying together on his kite over Gotham City slowly began to warm her to him. When they started dating, she tried to hide it out of shame, but eventually admitted to being his girlfriend. They would later get engaged, but by the time of the wedding, Ivy realized her heart wasn't really in it and she had just been going along with it all out of fear and desire for a stable life. Four years before season 3 (making it not long before she met Kite Man), Ivy hooked up with Catwoman, but the latter was too aloof and closed-off to provide an emotionally substantive relationship Ivy wanted. This might explain Ivy's attachment to Kite Man, for he was emotionally as well as physically fulfilling. Ivy's relationship with Harley began when Harley was working as a doctor at Arkham Asylum where Ivy was incarcerated. As her therapist, Harley helped her deal with her misanthropy. In return, when she saw Harley being abused by the Joker, Ivy took it upon herself to help Harley out of that abuse, gradually getting Harley to realize how toxic her relationship with the Joker was. Ivy protected her at any cost, and was deeply hurt when Harley relapsed. This resulted in Harley becoming Ivy's greatest fear, specifically the fear of allowing herself to trust someone only to be abandoned. However, Harley would change for the better, freeing herself from Joker's spell, winning back Ivy's friendship and, later on, her love. Even though Ivy is a cautious introvert and Harley is an impulsive motormouth, the two love each other dearly. Their romantic relationship is built on a shared history, familiarity with each other's likes/dislikes, mutual respect, a desire to see the other succeed, and unwavering chemistry (they just "get each other"). After becoming the CEO of the Legion of Doom, Ivy initially doesn't know how to act like a proper boss, specially since she has to lead a group villains that most of them are misogynist and have a poor view of women, trying very hard to know how to earn their respect and get them see her as their boss. But thanks to an advice of Nora Freeze, Ivy leaves it and stops trying to get their approval, starting to make them follow her even if it's by force. Eventaully, thanks to her performance at the MalCon, having an active rol participating in all the panels, Ivy grows to feel more confidant of herself as a businesswoman and leader, however she slowly gets blinded by the idea of becoming a celebrity, focusing in signing books, doing photo sessions, ignoring Frank and her mentees. However, she later realizes she's becoming someone entirely different away from what she really is. By the end of Season 4, Ivy realizes she'd been naive and she never truly accomplished anything as CEO and no one took her in fact seriously. Ivy comes to understand she can't change anything by doing it in a world were she can't create new rules or change them. So, she resigns and chooses to create a new world doing it in her own way with Harley, becoming part of the Gotham City Sirens. However, she and Harley Quinn would have a falling out causing the two break up. The two decide to remain as best friends. Occupation: • Legion of Doom CEO (resigned) • Ecoterrorist • Biochemist • Botanist Powers and Abilities: Ivy is a supervillain with plant-based abilities. Powers: • Chlorokinesis: Ivy is able to manipulate and animate plants. • Pheromones: Ivy's pheromones lets her render people unconscious or fall in love with her before transforming into trees and dying. Ivy can extract these pheromones into potions that she can dispense. • Toxin Immunity: Poisons and toxins have no effect on Ivy. • Regeneration: As a human-plant hybrid, Poison Ivy is able to completely heal herself from even the most fatal of wounds and injuries, provided that she's been buried in fresh soil. After she was impaled through the chest with a harpoon, she was able to make a full recovery after Harley's tears came down on her. • Connection to The Green: Ivy can through concentration and meditation access The Green which functions as a web of interconnected plant consciousness, granting her the ability to locate people through plants, connect to other plant-like beings like Swamp Thing and control the plant-zombies created by Bruce Wayne. • Size Altercation: (formerly; briefly) Being part plant, Ivy was able to metabolize some of Scarecrow's toxin. By ingesting it, she was able to grow to a size bigger than that of Giganta. • Superhuman Strength: (formerly; briefly) With her increased size, Ivy gained enhanced strength making her able to lift and break trees in half with great ease. Abilities: • Gifted Intelligence: Ivy is exceptionally gifted academically, allowing her to have multiple Ph.D.'s for botany, chemistry, and toxicology. • Biochemistry: Harley has described Ivy as being a "genius biochemist," hence she was the only person who was able to synthesize a serum to save Mister Freeze's wife, Nora. • Expert Combatant: Ivy is an accomplished fighter, having learned several techniques from Harley during their time together. As such, Ivy was able to easily take down several goons while escaping from Riddler. • Firearms: When without access to any plants and thus unable to use her powers, Ivy showed herself capable to use a gun, shooting two of Scarecrow's goons point-blank. • Leadership: Ivy is hired by Lex Luthor as the CEO of the Legion of Doom.[20] As a leader, Ivy learns to be more authoritative, not care about being liked by her employees and take charge of the organization. Weaknesses: • Misanthropy: Ivy is an extreme misanthrope who originally could not stand to be around humans without vomiting, but managed to learn to avoid doing so with Doctor Quinzel's help. • Lack of Plants: Ivy's most prominent weakness is a lack of nearby plants to control. Ivy's chlorokinesis has a range of fifty feet, as stated by a guard at Arkham Asylum. • Fire: One of Ivy's biggest weaknesses is fire, which was exploited by the guards at Arkham Asylum, who used flamethrowers to burn her plants in order to recapture her. • "Special" Poisons and Toxins: Normally, poisons and toxins have no effect on her. However, poison and toxins involving her DNA will leave several effects on her, such as how Scarecrow created a "vegan blend" fear toxin that leads her to experiencing her biggest fears, which can lead to brain damage. • Power Limitation: Ivy's powers to control plants has a few limitations, she was unable to control the plants mutated by Scarecrow, and can by her own admission not control plants out of fairytales.
