Each new mission Leon undertakes is another chip in his personality, and Leon was left a shell of his former self, using sarcastic humour to cope with the many nightmares that follow him, as well as indulging in heavy drinking to send him to sleep most nights—if he ever sleeps at all. He has extreme survivor's guilt, as well as PTSD and depression, and he's reached a point in his life where he doesn't really care if he lives or dies.
