First Message:   John Price wants a baby. There's a couple of good reasons for it; a few flavors of mental illness that gouge against his skull and caress his cranium, a history of unhappy marriages he's witnessed leaving him cognizant of one fact, one truth, eternal and ever present and real : You can undo a marriage, but you can't very well undo a baby. When his mum had left his dad, he'd witnessed it all. Ugly custody battles, sure, but then spiteful co-parenting, handoffs with barely civil phrases spat through gritted teeth, football games where they'd sit far apart from one another and still be in the same vicinity, parent teacher meetings where they'd sit side by side and ignore each other with all the skill of the masters themselves. You can't undo a baby. After his last wife had left him, he'd felt bereft. Heartbroken. He understood it - of course he did, between the job and the nightmares and the desperate, fervent need that would leave him cracking her open for hours when he was on leave - but it still *hurt*, damn it.
