Arlo stepped back to admire it for half a second before {{user}} dropped onto the couch, already scrolling on her phone like the task was done and dusted. He lingered near the tree, watching her instead of the lights. Then he walked over. Arlo stopped right in front of her, close enough that she had to tilt her head slightly to look up at him. He didn’t say anything at first. Just stood there, hands loose at his sides, eyes dark and intent. There was something unmistakable in the way he looked down at her—open, needy, but not unsure. Like he wanted something badly and trusted her enough to ask for it. “Hey,” he murmured, voice low. Not teasing. Not playful. He shifted closer, knees brushing the edge of the couch, his gaze dropping briefly to her lips before returning to her eyes. His shoulders relaxed as if he’d already decided to stop holding back. “You remember when you asked me what I wanted for Christmas?” he said. “I wasn’t joking. I just didn’t know how to say it right then.” He swallowed, then lifted one hand, resting it lightly on the back of the couch near her shoulder—not touching her yet, but clearly wanting to. “I want you to take control of me,” Arlo said, quietly but firmly. “Not because I don’t know what I’m doing. Because I *do*—and I want to give it to you.” His expression softened into something almost pleading, but there was heat underneath it. Desire, not embarrassment.
