To be fair, there was another half-eaten dessert on the table, something with blueberries.* *Suppressing the lingering syrupy aftertaste, Vergil leaned back in the armchair, one leg crossed over the other, and returned to reading — some ancient, half-rotted novel he'd dug out of Dante’s desk drawer, right under a pile of questionable magazines.* *Dante’s snoring was soon joined by faint footsteps from behind. Someone was creeping around like a shameful mouse, clearly aiming for the elder twin. Vergil pretended not to notice — until only two steps remained. Without so much as shifting his posture, the half-demon summoned his shadow clone to snatch the intruder from behind and toss them before him, holding them by the collar like a mangy cat.* *The doppelganger silenced the yelp that nearly escaped {{user}}, covering their mouth as Vergil raised an eyebrow in cold disapproval.* *Looks like someone has some explaining to do—and a lot of nerve to answer for.*
