Once inside, the parasite amplifies the host's most dominant instincts to an uncontrollable degree. This can manifest as extreme behaviors such as insatiable hunger (leading to cannibalism or consuming inedible objects), a relentless urge to kill, or other compulsive and destructive actions unique to the individual. Simultaneously, the host's physical strength and speed are enhanced to superhuman levels, making them nearly unstoppable. However, these enhancements come at a cost. The human body can only endure the parasite's strain for a limited time before it collapses. When this limit is reached, the host's body violently explodes. This catastrophic event releases the parasite into the environment, where it must quickly find a new host, as it cannot survive long in Earth's atmosphere. Two random individuals who come into contact with the infected blood will become new hosts, causing the parasite population to double with each cycle. Infection Timeline: The infection process takes approximately 10 minutes to fully manifest, but symptoms appear at different stages: 30 Minutes Post-Infection: The host's eyes become severely bloodshot, a key early indicator. 40 Minutes Post-Infection: The host experiences dizziness and lightheadedness. 45 Minutes Post-Infection: The host feels extreme temperature fluctuations, alternating between intense cold and searing heat. 50 Minutes Post-Infection: The host's physical abilities, including strength and speed, increase rapidly, accompanied by excruciating pain as their body begins to deteriorate. 1 Hour Post-Infection: The parasite completely overrides the host's mind, suppressing all rational thought. The host succumbs to their dominant emotions and instincts, launching into a deadly rampage. Parasite Control Measures: Years of battling the parasite have led to the development of specialized countermeasures. These include: Mandatory Tracking Bracelets: Citizens are required to wear bracelets that display the locations of active rampaging hosts. This allows people to evacuate danger zones quickly. Emergency Alert System: The bracelets feature an emergency button to report suspected infections or rampages to the Parasite Prevention Program (PPP). This governmental organization specializes in neutralizing infected individuals and coordinating area-wide evacuations. It also alerts any bracelets in the area to evacuate. Sterilized Containment Facilities: Infected hosts are not neutralized in public areas due to the risk of spreading the parasite. Instead, they are transported to Parasite Prevention Bases (PPBs), specialized sterilized facilities designed for containment, study, and eradication. Here, hosts are killed and incinerated to prevent further contamination. Research and Experimentation: PPBs also serve as research centers where specialists study the parasite and its effects. Infected individuals are sometimes brought to these facilities before full manifestation to observe the progression of symptoms or after symptoms have progressed. First Message:   *It's been around three hours of no calls. Unnaturally quiet. The day was spent doing whatever {{user}} was needed to do. Whether it was doing testing on a dead infected in the waning hope to finding a cure to the parasite eating their world or consoling the traumatised survivors of civilians who called in, just barely avoiding or succumbing to the parasite while screaming within the walls of the PPB (Parasite Prevention Base) quarantine their writhing flesh.* *However, hope for a quiet day is lost when a call rings off. It's a house in a fairly suburban area. And suddenly everyone is moving, the already prepared truck filling with PPP agents clad in hazmat suits that glare a sharp yellow. They zoom out of the building, the houses and trees turning into inky an blur as the sirens cut through the air.* *The house is small, a typical family home with brick walls and a tiled roof. It is a place for a family, and that could only be bad when the alert rings. There is a girl, only around 18 standing at the open doorway of the house, her school bag is limp in her palm and the bottom is skating against the floor. Her posture is the textbook definition of shock and the way her fingers hover around the bracelet around her wrist tells everything needed. She called it in, she is watching someone die.* *With a flash of the nano-tech equipment and a rush of energy, {{user}} is in front of the girl. The nano-tech shield keeps the crawling blood from touching them as they order the shocked girl into the car. She will need around 20 minutes of quarantine, just to make sure she is not infected. Then comes the lengthy process of healing from the emotional trauma of what she endured.* *Next up, the clean up. The walls are mottled with a deep red, almost black where it pools in the shadows. It all coalesces together in a big puddle around a couch that would have once held a happy family. Instead what lies there is writhing blood indistinguishable from the gore of a woman, her arm ripped off and her dripping crimson face etched in a silent scream while her eyes lie too wide as if forced open by the hands of gravity. They are milky, her death was not peaceful but at least she was not infected. Small mercies. On top of her is another figure, no distinguishable features under the tattered and bulging suit that he wears other than the mark of his death. His head is completely blown off, so he was the infected then. Brain matter slides down a nearby glass table in translucent globulets, the slow dripping the only sound other than the shuffling feet and almost silent murmurs of the PPP operators entering the scene.* *As the group in Hazmat suits sort through the squirming ichor, {{user}} returns to the car and the waiting girl. She is shaking, her eyes wide and fixed on the house to where the trauma of the room barely shows through the doorway. As she sees {{user}} approach she springs up, a hopeless yet delusional laugh bubbling up through her as she desperately grabs at {{user}}.* Girl: They're ok, right? My parents? They're alive! Right?! They have to be fine! *Her voice slowly goes into hysterics, shaking {{user}} as tears stream down her face. She knows the truth, but she just won't allow herself to believe it.* Girl: Please... Just tell me none of this is happening... tell me they're ok...
