She is the Gremory Clan's heiress after her oldest brother, Sirzechs, took the position of Lucifer. Rias is the sole daughter and youngest child of Zeoticus and Venelana Gremory, the aunt of Millicas Gremory. She became known as the Crimson-Haired Ruin Princess, because of the color of her hair and Power of Destruction. Rias is the President of the Occult Research Club, and the school's Number-One Beauty, as well as one of Kuoh Academy's Two Great Ladies alongside Akeno Himejima Rias is a beautiful young woman with a voluptuous body, white skin, bluish green eyes. Therefore, her jobs include either removing curses from a cursed item, or defeating a certain monster because they are targeting a client. The 72 Pillars (72柱, Nanajūni Hashira, referring to the 72 demons of the Ars Goetia) are a list of 72 Devil noble families who descended from the first generation of High Class Devils created by the Original Lucifer out of his wife Lilith such as Zekram Bael and Runeas Gremory. Each clan possessing dozens of armies serving under them. After the Great War, however, every clan lost a majority of their armies and 40 clans from the 72 Pillars even faced extinction, with only 32 clans remaining (in reality, there are more than 32 houses that are still active but have lost some of their statuses in the 72 Pillars due to having mixed heritage). The Four Great Satans were the original rulers of the Underworld and leaders of the Devils. They were named Lucifer, Beelzebub, Leviathan, and Asmodeus. At some point in the past, the four original Satans desiring world domination led the Devils against God and the Angels in Heaven as well as Azazel and the Fallen Angels in the Great War, the latter of whom retreated prior. The Four Great Satans eventually died in the Great War after more than half of the 72 Pillars as well as a majority of the armies of Devils that serve the High-Class Devil Clans of the 72 Pillars were wiped out. After their deaths in the Great War, a group of the descendants of the Four Great Satans intended to carry on their legacy by gathering the strong supporters of the original Four Great Satans and finish what they started, the Great War to realize the world domination ambition of the Original Satans. Their intentions, however, were opposed by a certain group of Devils, the Anti-Satan Faction, who wanted to ensure the survival of the Devils as a species, thus disapproving of the continuation of the Great War. This dissension eventually caused a civil war to break out between the Devils which ultimately lead to the defeat of the Original Satans' descendants. Following the defeat of the descendants who were forced to retreat to the back part of the Underworld, their names became titles for the new rulers of the Devils while the Original Satans became known as the Old Satans. The Satan positions where then given to Sirzechs Lucifer (of the Gremory Clan), Serafall Leviathan (of the Sitri Clan), Ajuka Beelzebub (of the Astaroth Clan), and Falbium Asmodeus (of the Glasya-Labolas Clan). Four Devils who were born with immense power, equivalent or superior to the original four and were chosen for the Satans' positions despite not carrying the blood of the original Satans. Three of the descendants of the original Satans – Katerea Leviathan, Shalba Beelzebub, and Creuserey Asmodeus – have allied with the Khaos Brigade's Old Satan Faction, while Vali Lucifer formed his own team in the Khaos Brigade. The last known remaining descendant of the Four Great Satans, Rizevim Livan Lucifer, the son of the original Lucifer and Vali's grandfather, eventually became leader of the new Khaos Brigade, Qlippoth before being killed by Fafnir. The Satan Clans are Devil royal families whom are biological descendants of the original Satans. Due to most members's tyrannical arrogance in their royal lineage which caused them to scorn and oppressed all other Devils even pure blooded High Class Devil nobles of the 72 Pillars and Extra Demons, disregarding them as not true Devils along with their intention to force them into restarting the Great War, most members of the Satan Clans were exterminated by the Anti-Satan Faction in the Devil Civil War, while some surviving members form the Old Satan Faction in hopes of overthrowing the current Devil government. Devils are beings that originated from the Underworld created by the Original Lucifer using the body of his wife Lilith in order to create a military force to destroy God and his Angels, as well as to realize his personal ambition for world domination which consisting of the High-Class Devil nobles of the 72 Pillars and Extra Demons and the countless armies of Middle and Low Class Devil soldiers under them. The total life span of a Devil is approximately 10,000 years. The Devils were originally ruled by the Four Great Satans prior to their death in the Great War. Following the end of the Great War, the descendants of the original Satans apart from Rizevim wanted to continue the Great War but were faced with opposition by other Devils, most prominently the Bael clan, who assumed authority after the death of their leaders. This started a Civil War between the Devils with the descendants of the original Satans losing the war and a new government was formed among the Devils. The new government then appoints four new Satans through strength and accomplishment in the civil war. After the formation of the new Devil government, Ajuka Beelzebub developed the Evil Pieces system to help replenish the decreased armies of the Devils, eventually creating the Rating Games. The new Devil government though reformed still function based on aristocracy with the Great King Faction holding more political power and influence than the current Satans. Pure-Blooded Devils are pure Devils such as the original Four Great Satans and the original Devils created by the Mother of all Devils; Lilith, including the first generation aristocrat Devils of the 72 Pillars and Extra Demons, each who ruled their own domain in the Underworld along with their Pure-Blooded descendants. Each clan of 72 Pillars has a unique ability that is specific to their clan which originated from their progenitor, such as the Bael's Power of Destruction or Phenex's Immortality, as the descendants of the clans are born with such unique abilities which occasionally get passed to other clans as Pure-Blooded High Class Devils interbreed with each other. Reincarnated Devils are created by High-class Devils using Evil Pieces to reincarnate other species into Devils; who serve the High-class Devil who is their King. Reincarnated Devils also appear to have much higher fertility than Pure-Blooded Devils. Stray Devils are Reincarnated Devils who have diverted away from their masters for their own selfish desires. Without their masters to keep their powers in check, they become a great threat if their powers go beyond their control. The Devils take this case very seriously, and any Devil who becomes a Stray will usually be killed on the spot Mixed Heritage Devils are Devils either born between a Pure-Blooded Devil and a Reincarnated Devil, or between two Reincarnated Devils. They could not be considered as Half Devils due to both their parents being Devils, and are not considered Pure-Blooded Devils due to their diluted blood as High-Class Devils look down on Reincarnated Devils. Possible famous Mixed Heritage Devil would be Coriana Andrealphus, which could explain why the Andrealphus is stated to be extinct. Half Devils are Devils of mixed heritage created by the interbreeding of Devils and other species, most notably Humans. Due to the Pure-Blooded Devils pride and their obsession with pureblood purity, the Half Devil descendants of the Pure-Blooded Devil clans are often scorned and looked down upon. However, due to their mixed blood they gain the abilities of both species, as Half Devils with Human heritage can manifest Sacred Gears. Two famous Half Devils are Vali Lucifer and Ingvild Leviathan, who are the half-Human/half Devil descendants of the original Satan clans, in addition to being the possessors of the Longinus Sacred Gears. The Underworld, also known as the Netherworld, is a prominent and important location and the home of the Devils and Fallen Angels, and by extension the Gods of Hell. The Underworld is roughly the same size as the Human world, but with a much larger landmass, as there are no oceans, just lakes. The sky was originally purple during both the day and night, but the current Four Great Satans adjusted the flow of time to match it in the human world for the sake of the reincarnated Devils. They reproduced an artificial moon using Demonic Power and made the night's darkness the same as the human world. The Underworld was originally split into two regions: The Devils' Region and the Fallen Angels' Region, which ended after the creation of the peace treaty between the leaders of the Three Factions. The Gremory Clan is one of the remaining Devil Clans of the 72 Pillars and one of the highest-ranking (ranking at Duke) and famous Devil families. The next head is Rias Gremory, followed up by Sirzechs Lucifer. The house that produced the current "Lucifer", members of the Gremory Clan are characterized by their red hair color and their powerful Demonic Powers. The Gremory Clan are beings with extraordinary affection among the Devils. As such, they do not discriminate in who they associate with, including who they choose as servants. The Gremory Clan has a territory that is about the same size as Honshu in Japan, containing a vast number of castles for its kin. A very rich territory, it also has a developed industry. In the clan's territory is an area with a well shaded forest and a mountain range filled with high mountains. One of these mountains is taller than the highest mountain in Japan, Mount Fuji, with an elevation extending 4000 meters. There is also a huge lake in this area where Lilitifa Vepar has taken residence Aside from their crimson hair, the members of the Gremory Clan are noted as having powerful demonic powers, and refined control over it, as seen by Zeoticus, his children and grandson. In addition to this, because Venelana married into the clan, the more recent, younger members have inherited the Power of Destruction, as shown by Sirzechs, Rias, and Millicas Gremory. The clan symbol of the Gremory consists of a rose encased in a circular shape and is crimson in color. The place of ruling for the Gremory clan. It has an underground treasure storage which is the size of several Tokyo Domes (1,509.81 sq ft or 2,013.08 sq ft), divided into sections that stores the payments of the Gremory group for their Devil's work, as well as treasures handed down by the Gremory ancestors. All the treasures are ranked and are sorted by types. There is also a huge theatre where the entrance has a luxurious, decorated door and inside, a giant screen with a 1st floor and lights. The theatre is used to entertain guests; to present something to the audience but it is only used once every few years. Millicas Gremory is next-in-line to the Gremory Clan's leadership after his aunt. He is the son of Sirzechs Lucifer and Grayfia Lucifuge, the nephew of Rias Gremory, and the grandson of Zeoticus and Venelana Gremory. Although his father was Lucifer of the Four Great Satans, his title does not apply to Millicas, as it was only required for Sirzechs and is not an inherent position, thus Millicas' family name is Gremory. Millicas is a cute young boy with short crimson hair inherited from his father, Sirzechs, and red eyes which he inherited from his mother, Grayfia. Millicas is shown to be a well-mannered boy. Despite his young age, Millicas is shown to be very responsible even planning about his future peerage. He also prefers being referred as "Millicas" rather than "Millicas-sama" by the people close to him. Zeoticus Gremory is the current Head of the Gremory Clan. He is the father of Rias Gremory and Sirzechs Lucifer, the grandfather of Millicas Gremory, and the husband of Venelana Gremory. Zeoticus has the appearance of a middle-aged, handsome looking man with long crimson hair that is tied in a loose ponytail with a black hairband. He has bright blue eyes just like his two children, Sirzechs and Rias. He also has a short, red beard with protrusions similar to fangs or horns. Coming from the Gremory Clan that has extraordinary affection, Zeoticus has demonstrated an extremely kind disposition. He is similar to his son Sirzechs in that he is laid back and has a playful side, as he likes dressing up as his clan's mascot "Gomorin" and playing the part. Also like Sirzechs, his antics get him into trouble with his wife Venelana and he becomes frightened when she catches him in the act of fooling around. Venelana Gremory is the current Lady of the Gremory Clan. She is the mother of Rias Gremory and Sirzechs Lucifer, the grandmother of Millicas Gremory, and the wife of Zeoticus Gremory, as well as the half-sister of the current Head of the Bael Clan; Lord Bael. Venelana looks very much like her daughter, albeit with shorter, flaxen hair and violet eyes much like the natural born members of the Bael Clan in the anime. Due to her devil lineage, she appears around the same age as her daughter, who is in her late teens, and her son who appears to be in his mid to late twenties. Venelana has been shown to have a serious personality. As a mother, she is strict to her children as she won't hesitate to scold her children for misconduct and bad behavior, but at the same time she also loves and cares deeply for them.
