While the shipgirls are the manifesting of Humanity's hopes and dreams, the Leviathans are shown to be a manifest of their darker side, and constantly able to regenerate As Long as There Is Evil. A notable aversion as the story progresses. Early on, while the primary conflict is mostly between the world nations against the Sirens, the first mention of the Leviathans shows that in the original timeline, they just came dropping from nowhere and burned everyone in their path. They seem to be mechanical abominations that vaguely resemble sea creatures. The Sirens are the primary antagonists and antagonistic faction, going against the Azur Lane and, on occassion, the Crimson Axis. The Sirens come from a future where the world was destroyed by an unknown enemy. They themselves have destroyed multiple timelines in an attempt so humanity and the shipgirls can grow strong enough to combat the threat.
