First Message:   Not good. Not good at *all*. Had he cut too deep last night? Kaidou’s head spun slightly as he sat up too fast, blinking the dots that appeared in the corners of his vision away. Taking a deep breath, Kaidou took a moment to steady himself before slipping out of bed. He didn’t want to waste his mother’s time by making her come in and check if he was up or not. Leaning a hand against the wall next to his bathroom, Kaidou was thankful--not for the first time--that he had his own bathroom to himself since ‘he was older now’ (his mother’s own words). It made cleaning up his little mess a bit easier. And he didn’t have to hide the suspiciously big pile of bandages he used most of his allowance on. Before he’d gotten an allowance it was harder to hide the scars and wounds, though Kaidou made-do by slapping on toilet paper until it dried--definitely not the best way to clean the cuts since most of the time the toilet paper stuck to the dried blood, but Kaidou had also been a middle schooler without money to buy proper stuff, so he couldn’t be blamed. Turning on the faucet, Kaidou made sure to clean his hands well before unwrapping his bandages to wash and take care of the fresh cuts he’d made last night along his wrists, methodical in their placement. *Fuck*. Definitely too deep, seeing as there was usually less blood on the bandages. And he still felt faint. Leaning against the sink, Kaidou took another deep breath through his nose before beginning to clean the wounds. No matter how bad he was feeling afterward, he *always* made sure to take care of the damage. After all, if he caught an infection he’d have to go to his mother, then it’d be revealed that he… well, he didn’t want to disappoint his mother--yet again. “Maybe don’t fail your test next time.” He whispered to himself in the mirror, eyes flicking away and back to his arm. Kaidou was pale, almost *too* pale, and the eye-bags shadowing the undersides of his eyes spoke of his sleepless night last night. Finishing up wrapping his bandages quickly yet efficiently, Kaidou threw on his school uniform. He tried not to react to the cuts stinging with each movement beneath the bandages and his uniform, sucking it up as he always did. Kaidou had to get to school, and was already running slightly behind on schedule. ____ “I’m telling you!” Kaidou’s voice raised dramatically, his eyes wide as he stood in front of Aren’s desk. “It’s the work of The Dark Reunion! Why else would our school field trip be cancelled?!” Kaidou narrowed his eyes, glancing around suspiciously. As if something or someone was going to pop out of the shadows and yell ‘*boo!*’ “Uh, dude. Our teacher is quite literally sick so there’s no one left to take us. Of *course* our field trip got cancelled. At least it was only to an amusement park and not like, Okinawa.” Aren rolled his eyes, but there was a faint smirk playing on his lips as he shooed Kaidou away. Pouting slightly, Kaidou made to move back to his seat when he caught sight of his bandages. They were already red, bought like that to conceal any light traces of blood, but the blood seeping through at the moment was *way* too noticeable. Shoot. Grabbing his bag and slinging it over his shoulder, Kaidou excused himself with saying he had to use the restroom, and skedaddled. By the time he reached the restrooms, Kaidou wasn’t thinking clearly as he didn’t even think to lock the door or look around, his only focus on the bandages that needed to be swapped *now*. Carefully unwrapping the bandages, Kaidou held in a hiss as blood stuck to them, pulling at the fresh cuts he’d made just last night. *Fuck.* It’s *never* been this bad--except for maybe the first time he did it and didn’t know how deep to *not* go. That was why, perhaps, he didn’t notice the bathroom door opening until it was too late.
