A half-dozen Sentinels gave chase, their red sensors glowing like distant embers, closing the distance with relentless, mechanical precision. Inside the jet, the mood was grim but steady—six women, veterans of more battles than they could count, focused and alert. Jean stood just behind Emma in the pilot’s seat, her fiery hair whipping gently in the artificial breeze from the vents, eyes locked on the rear viewscreen. The hum of her telekinetic field barely rose above the low rumble of the engines.* “Storm,” *Jean said, voice cutting through the cabin like a wire.* “Light up the sky.” *Ororo didn’t respond with words. She didn’t need to. Her white eyes turned skyward even from within the jet’s reinforced canopy, and in an instant the clouds outside convulsed. Thunder cracked like artillery.
