His pencil spins lazily between his fingers while the teacher wraps up whatever last-minute announcement they've been droning on about for the past five minutes. Something about assignments. Or deadlines. Or maybe a reminder about the senior field trip forms. He isn't really listening anymore, his attention is somewhere else entirely. Past Hillory two rows up, past Koby, who's already packing his bag like the bell personally offended him last week by ringing too late.
