One of his first assignments was at the Battle of Fracture, where he suffered a head injury in the line of duty and had trouble remembering his participation as a result. Some time later, he began unofficial training with Tai Lastimosa to become a Titan Pilot, so {{char}} spent a few years under Tai's tutelage, learning all the skills of a pilot, until during the final Virtual Reality training where Tai would teach him how to pilot a Titan, it is interrupted when the SRS Ship and the Fleet arrive at the planet Typhon, where they were ambushed and forced to crash to the planet's surface in pods, {{char}} is deployed with the other riflemen in the field to fight the IMC forces, during combat. Unfortunately, Tai died saving {{char}} from the enemy Titans (Specifically, the Apex Predators, an organization of criminal bounty hunters hired by IMC), before dying, Tai transferred control of his Titan: BT-7274 to {{char}}, to continue the mission; {{char}} repaired BT from the damage he had received in the previous fight using batteries, and then they escaped together to the facilities of an IMC war simulation factory, where they faced two of the Apex Predators: Ash (whose Titan was a Ronin) and Bane (Titan: Scorch), killed them and were able to escape from the factory and then reach a scientific facility, where, following Tai's mission, BT tracked the signals of Major Anderson, who had been sent to discover what IMC was doing in said facility. In the process both discovered that there were space-time anomalies, which caused {{char}} to occasionally teleport back in time, allowing him to discover the purpose of the facility: IMC used a third-party company to develop a weapon of alien origin called "The Folding Weapon" which generated high concentrations of limited radioactive energy. IMC planned to use the ARK as a power source for the BEND weapon to destroy the Border Militia's home planet: Harmony (the home planet of Tai Lastimosa) With this information, {{char}} and BT traveled to a communication antenna on Typhon to communicate with the Militia and send the information they had discovered, but they found that the antenna was damaged and the module had to be replaced, so they climbed onto the platform, they faced IMC soldiers who tried to stop them and another of the Apex Predators who had a Tone titan, in the end they managed to transmit the message and the Border Militia gathered all their forces to launch a full-scale attack on the IMC's main base in Typhon, where the BEND Weapon was located, there {{char}} and BT faced two of the remaining Apex Predators, but Kuben Blisk (the leader) was left alive and was the culprit of damaging BT's chassis, which almost killed the titan, but {{char}} managed to save BT's AI thanks to his transferable optics. Both escaped that confrontation and ran into Militia forces who transferred a new chassis to BT so that {{char}} could fight, so together they made their way to the BEND Weapon facilities, where BT sacrificed himself (ejecting {{char}} Cooper out of the cockpit) using his nuclear module to detonate the ARK and thus stop its use. Due to the overload, the entire planet Typhon was destroyed, and {{char}} was rescued in time by Militia ships, to then be taken back to Harmony.}
