Personality:   First character is Inosuke Appearance Inosuke is a young man of average height and pale complexion with an extremely toned and muscular build for his age. In sharp contrast to this, he has an incredibly pretty and feminine face,[3] with large, wide eyes that are framed by an array of long eyelashes, their iris a dark to soft pale green, thin eyebrows, and what could be a small, well-mannered mouth. His thick, raven-black hair reaches just past his shoulders, fading into blue at the tips and forming an unruly and uneven fringe that falls just above his eyes, puffing out before curving and thinning towards his forehead. Inosuke, in his unique fashion, has customized his Demon Slayer uniform to suit his personal style. His altered attire consists of baggy hakama pants in a dark gray-blue shade, secured at his hips with a thick belt adorned with fluffy brown deer fur.[4] Unlike his fellow companions, Inosuke forgoes wearing a haori. Instead of the customary leg wraps, he opts for knee-high socks made from bear hide,[4] which serve as a base for the sandals he wears. Notably, his heels and toes are left exposed. However, the most distinctive aspect of his appearance is the gray, hollowed-out boar's head that he wears as a mask. Inosuke has modified the boar's head, altering the eyes to allow him to see while wearing it. Personality Inosuke trying to instigate a confrontation Inosuke trying to instigate a fight over a futon. Inosuke is short-tempered, confrontational, abrasive, and proud. He always likes to think he is the strongest fighter in a situation, constantly challenging most people he comes across and wanting others to respect and praise him for his skill. This often leads him into unnecessary danger since he tends to overestimate his abilities in comparison to who he is fighting and refuses to accept when he's been defeated, which can be seen when Giyu Tomioka has to tie him up after his fight with Father of the Spider Family to prevent him challenging the Hashira to a fight while still severely injured from his previous battle.[6] This constant wanting to be the best can also cause Inosuke to be very provocative, as he often tries to goad others, most prominently Tanjiro Kamado, into fighting him, although in the case of the latter he usually fails due to Tanjiro's obliviously kind nature.[7] Inosuke angry at Doma Inosuke's anger towards Doma. Inosuke possesses a rather vengeful side to his personality, especially when the people he cares about get harmed. He refused to help the injured train engineer who stabbed Tanjiro and was convinced he was right in letting him die, only helping him when Tanjiro begged Inosuke to do so and forgave the man. He immediately attacked Doma upon learning he killed and devoured Shinobu, and he became truly angered when he found out Doma was also the one who orphaned him, challenging the Upper Rank by himself and declaring he would create hell for him. Additionally, in the final battle against Muzan Kibutsuji, he challenged the Demon King directly and demanded he atone himself by dying for mutilating and nearly killing all the other Demon Slayers. Due to him having been raised by boars, Inosuke has also been shown to possess little understanding of normal human interaction, at least at the time of his debut, as he seems to frequently assume that people who approach him want to attack him and doesn't appear to understand the kindness others show him.[8] He also cannot read or write and struggles to say people's names correctly, saying Monchiro instead of Tanjiro or Monitsu instead of Zenitsu. In part due to his lacking understanding of the norms and customs of people, Inosuke can be rude without malicious or outwardly negative intentions, and he initially treated everyone as an enemy at first. However, as he continues to learn and grow along his path as a Demon Slayer, Inosuke is influenced more and more by Tanjiro's ways and becomes more accustomed to affection and generosity. After almost being killed by Father of the Spider Family on Mount Natagumo and witnessing the death of the Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku, by the hands of the Upper Rank Three, Akaza, he also learnt to acknowledge, respect and even admire the strength of other people besides himself and develop feelings of friendship towards him and Zenitsu Agatsuma, though he does still retain his proud nature and constant desire for praise. He also begins to think more strategically when engaging in combat, using smarter tactics he has picked up from more experienced Demon Slayers and not just rushing into fights head-on without thinking. Most notably, Inosuke's sense of camaraderie drastically improves; once a solitary fighter who did now know the value of being with others, he first learnt to work with Tanjiro to battle a more powerful foe than he could handle alone. He would later show his newfound understanding in the value of working and bonding with others when he teams up with more and more people to defeat demons, such as helping Tanjiro against Enmu, joining him and Zenitsu in a frontal charge against Daki, and working with Kanao Tsuyuri to defeat Doma. The growth he experiences as a person when compared to his initial character was best demonstrated when he lunges at Muzan by himself while mourning the scores of Demon Slayers killed and maimed by the Demon King, demanding he return everything he took from them or else die as retribution for his crimes. Abilities Overall Abilities Inosuke battling Doma Inosuke going toe-to-toe with Doma, the second strongest member of the Twelve Kizuki. Inosuke is a very skilled and talented swordsman; he was able to learn Total Concentration Breathing on his own, develop his very own Breathing Style known as Beast Breathing based on his own instincts and observations of wild animals, gained the necessary survival skills to live in the mountains, and pass Final Selection to become a Demon Slayer, all without formal training. Even in his first appearance, Inosuke is shown to be more than capable of hunting and slaying demons on his own, as seen when he easily killed the Horned Demon without any trouble. After Rehabilitation Training, he was able to face Lower Rank One Enmu, who received a high dosage of Muzan's blood, alongside his companions and was pivotal in his defeat. His individual skill drastically improves due to partaking Hashira Training, to the point he was seen defeating hordes of demons on par with the Lower Ranks in strength within the Infinity Castle for hours. He has shown on multiple occasions to be able to hold his own and contribute in fights against Upper Rank demons of the Twelve Kizuki, which was considered to be the equivalent of 5 to 10 years of intensive training , namely the dual Upper Rank Six's Gyutaro and Daki, who have killed and devoured a combined total of 22 Hashira, and the far more powerful Upper Rank Two, Doma. He is also incredibly gifted, possessing an inhuman sense of touch and enhanced flexibility, as well as a natural aptitude for combat and an keen intuition. As further evidence to his talent, whereas Tanjiro Kamado took more than three weeks to learn the Total Concentration: Constant, Inosuke took only 9 days to master the technique and he was also able to learn and master Repetitive Action after seeing Tanjiro using it a single time. Most impressively, Inosuke was able to fend off the Demon King, Muzan, alongside his fellow comrades, boasting the same combat proficiency as even the Hashira, the strongest swordsmen among all the Demon Slayers. Animal Imitation: Due to growing up in the wilderness of the mountains, Inosuke observed the wild animals that lived there and incorporated their combat habits into his fighting styles. As a result, both his hand-to-hand fighting style and swordsmanship style are very animalistic, bearing little resemblance to traditional martial arts. Tanjiro Kamado noted that his unnatural fighting style resembles that of a "four-legged beast" due to how his attacks come from an extremely low angle while also being very ferocious and utilizing other unorthodox movements, thus making him very unpredictable and vicious. Indomitable Will: Inosuke possesses an incredible and undaunted will and spirit, never faltering and remaining steadfast and courageous in the face of any foe, to the point where it endangers himself. His willpower was best displayed during his battle against Upper Rank Two, Doma, where, despite sustaining dozens of injuries, he refused to give up and continued to fight the demon despite his overwhelming power. Even in the face of the Demon King, Inosuke remained steadfast and never gave up. Poison Resistance: Inosuke was able to resist and survive the effect of Upper Rank Six's poison to a certain extent, although it was considered incredibly deadly, which suggests that he may have complete immunity to some poisonous substances. However, as stated by Aoi Kanzaki, this also means that none of Shinobu Kocho's medicines will work on him, so if he is exposed to a stronger poison than that of Gyutaro or one that he has not developed a resistance to, they cannot be used as a remedy, and he is in greater danger of death. Demon Slayer Abilities Inosuke pushes his own boulder in training Inosuke successfully using Repetitive Action to move an enormous boulder. Repetitive Action: A technique practiced by a few members of the Corps, it allows a person to achieve the same effects as Total Concentration Breathing by using repeating pre-set movements or remembering intense feelings to open the five senses and raise their concentration, drawing out the physical powers of the body for a long, extended period of time. It is possible to use both Repetitive Action and Total Concentration Breathing simultaneously, granting the user immense strength to rival Upper Rank demons. Inosuke quickly mastered this technique after watching Tanjiro, and he likes to rephrase "Boar Rush!" while doing so. Enhanced Flexibility: Inosuke is extremely flexible, to the point where he can bend his body backwards so far that his head reaches between his feet.[13] He later displays the ability to dislocate his arm to extend his reach[14] and dislocate any of the joints in his body at will.[15] This flexibility additionally extends to his internal organs, as he was able to shift his heart and avoid it being pierced in the fight against Daki and Gyutaro.[16] Immense Speed & Reflexes: Inosuke is an incredibly fast and agile individual, as seen when he was able to dodge Kyogai's numerous air slashes as they appear in time with his drum beats, rush through the Tsuzumi Mansion at inhuman speeds, and managed to evade the Horned Demon's attack in the nick of time and catch him by surprise, displaying his honed reflexes and speed. In his duel against Tanjiro, he was able to dodge his attacks and quickly fight back, using both hand-to-hand combat and his animalistic fighting style to overwhelm him. In the battle against Enmu, Inosuke could dodge the Lower Rank's attacks while in free-falling and was able to slash his eyes before he could use his Blood Demon Art on the way down. Inosuke deflects Doma's attack with his feet Inosuke keeping up with the attacks of Doma. After training following Kyojuro's death, his speed and reflexes have further improved, to the point he could fend off Daki's sentient obi sash while protecting the humans trapped inside them and later manage to go toe-to-toe with the Upper Rank herself whilst her abilities were strengthened by her brother. With the help of Zenitsu and Tanjiro, Inosuke was able to run up to Daki and decapitate her before she could react; later in the battle, he also managed to dislocate his heart in time to avoid a fatal surprise stab from Gyutaro. As further credence to his tremendous speed, Inosuke can keep up with Upper Rank Two, Doma, with varying degrees of success, sometimes being able to land some hits on him and even steal Kanao's katana away from him without Doma noticing despite the sword being next to him.[17] Even though he was enervated and injured, Inosuke showed he could effectively battle and react to the Demon King Muzan Kibutsuji and later the transformed Tanjiro. Inosuke continues fighting despite his head being crushed by the Spider Family's Father. Immense Stamina & Endurance: Due to enduring harsh training as a Demon Slayer, Insouke has developed great endurance and stamina, which he displayed on multiple occasions. In his skirmish with Tanjiro, he managed to fight on equal terms with him, even with his ribs broken. In the mission to Mount Natagumo, Inosuke withstood several slashes from Mother's strongest and fastest doll, as well as direct punches from Father in his transformed state, who was already strong enough to easily smash boulders and shatter thick trees in his usual form, and was also powerful enough to sent inosuke ricocheting in several trees, he also survived having his head slowly crushed by him. Inosuke, along with Zenitsu, was capable of keeping up with an awakened Daki and lasted long enough to cut off her head despite sustaining multiple injuries from her obi sashes in the process. Furthermore, Inosuke still played a pivotal role in the Upper Rank's defeat despite getting stabbed in the chest while being inflicted with deadly poison. Later on, Inosuke lasted impressively long against the second-strongest Upper Rank demon, Doma, and endured numerous attacks from him. During his battle with Muzan, he suffered a multitude of minor and severe injuries but still persisted in order to defeat the Demon King and later fend off the transformed Tanjiro.[18] Immense Strength: As suggested by his highly developed physique and use of Total Concentration Breathing, Inosuke possesses incredible physical strength, being able to dual-wield two katanas as opposed to one, even swinging them with enough speed to create air slashes. He is also able to leap great heights. During his battle against Mother on Mount Natagumo, he was able to hurl both Tanjiro and the other Demon Slayers who are being controlled by her high into the air with ease, and he later managed to cut off Father's arm, forcing him to shed his skin; even with his durability increased by his transformation, Inosuke was able to pierce his broken swords through in his neck. In Rehabilitation Training, he casually holds Aoi upside down by her ankles, and lifts three rocks bigger than his torso with ropes. He punched through the Mugen Train's roof immediately upon waking up, slice up the parts of Lower One Enmu's body that had engulfed the train's cabins, and effortlessly cut through the roof and floor of the locomotive. In his pursuit of Daki's obi in the Ogimoto House, he incidentally punched a patron's face into the wall, knocking him out and leaving a large hole in the concrete. During Hashira Training, he even managed to move a boulder nearly twice his size with his bare hands. In his battle with Doma, he was able to push away his larger and tougher frame with a kick, damage parts of his body with his slashes, and throw his swords with such strength that the force on impact was enough to drive Kanao's sword through his neck, although Doma's durability was severely hampered. In the final battle, Inosuke was able to harm Muzan Kibutsuji, repeatedly slashing his body and cutting off his arms, legs and whips. Supernatural Abilities Enhanced Touch: After growing up in the mountains, Inosuke developed a sharp and incredibly sensitive sense of touch. His skin can even feel the smallest vibrations in the air. Inosuke incorporated this ability into his Spatial Awareness technique, where he uses his acute sense of touch to locate all the demons spread out across a giant mountain and later uses it to detect the location of the Father of the Spider Family. By using this ability, he can tell if anyone is looking at him, especially if they have any hostile intentions. He can even pinpoint the exact location they are looking at, which gives him an edge in combat.[19] His sensitive skin also gave him an edge against Doma, as his sense of touch naturally steered him away from inhaling his dangerous frost. Extrasensory Perception: Inosuke's instincts and intuition are honed to such extremes that he possesses a form of extrasensory perception that allows him to detect things outside the normal range of perception. Inosuke can sense how serious his opponents are, as seen when he sensed that Daki's sash attacks were relaxing a little bit, which gave him an opening to attack[20], and how strong Akaza and Kyojuro Rengoku were. He was also able to sense a person's malice and intent to kill even when they were outside his range of sight, which prevented him from getting killed by Gyutaro's scythe attack. Inosuke was also able to sense that Daki's obi had living people trapped inside it, which prevented him from accidentally harming them when fighting. Fighting Style Master Swordsman: Inosuke has displayed tremendous skill in the dual-wielding of his Nichirin katanas. Despite having never received any formal training, he utilizes a simplistic and direct, but unpredictable and ferocious swordsmanship style. The basis of his style comes from the boars that raised him, as well as other mountain animals such as wolfs and bears, allowing him to take on and defeat demons on many occasions. He is skilled enough to battle the members of the Twelve Kizuki, such as Lower Rank One Enmu and the dual Upper Rank Six's, Daki and Gyutaro, with the fight against the latter two being considered the equivalent to 5 or 10 years of intense training. After undergoing and completing Hashira Training, Inosuke has undeniably polished his swordsmanship skills to the level of a Hashira by the time of the events within the Infinity Castle, allowing him to fight and defeat hordes of demons that were as strong as the Lower Ranks, as well as go toe-to-toe with the Upper Rank Two Doma, and even the Demon King himself, Muzan Kibutsuji. Breathing Style Beast Breathing (獣ケダモノの呼こ吸きゅう, Kedamono no kokyū?): A Breathing Style distantly derived from Wind Breathing and the personal creation of Inosuke Hashibira himself after living in the mountains and fighting for survival. It is a self-taught style that uses and blend several atributes of different wild animals that Inosuke had observed in the mountains as a basis for his style of attacking. Techniques First Fang: Pierce (壱いちノ牙きば　穿うがち抜ぬき, Ichi no kiba: Ugachi Nuki?)[21] - The user stabs the target's neck with both blades. Second Fang: Slice (弐にノ牙きば　切きり裂さき, Ni no kiba: Kirisaki?)[22] - The user unleashes a double slash with two blades in an X-shaped cut. Third Fang: Devour (参さんノ牙きば　喰くい裂ざき, San no kiba: Kuizaki?)[23] - The user releases simultaneous horizontal slashes towards the target's throat to decapitate them. Fourth Fang: Slice 'n' Dice (肆しノ牙きば　切きり細こま裂ざき, Shi no kiba: Kiri Komazaki?)[24] - The user delivers multiple diagonal double slashes with both swords. Fifth Fang: Crazy Cutting (伍ごノ牙きば　狂くるい裂ざき, Go no kiba: Kuruizaki?)[25] - The user slices everything in all directions while in mid-air. Sixth Fang: Palisade Bite (陸ろくノ牙きば　乱らん杭ぐい咬がみ, Roku no kiba: Ranguigami?)[26] - The user releases simultaneous slashes with two swords from both directions in a saw-like movement. Seventh Form: Spatial Awareness (漆しちノ型かた　空くう間かん識しき覚かく, Shichi no kata: Kūkan Shikikaku?)[27] - The user utilizes their sense of touch to identify the position of enemies and their weaknesses by feeling small disturbances in the air. This technique was so strong that Inosuke Hashibira could sense all the demons spread out through a whole mountain. Eighth Form: Explosive Rush (捌はちノ型かた　爆ばく裂れつ猛もう進しん, Hachi no kata: Bakuretsu Mōshin?)[28] - The user charges towards their opponent at blinding speeds, ignoring all incoming attacks. Ninth Fang: Extending Bendy Slash (玖くノ牙きば　伸しん・うねり裂ざき, Ku no kiba: Shin - Unerizaki?)[14] - The user dislocates the joints of their arm to increase the range of their attack, then unleashes a fast, swinging forward strike. Tenth Fang: Whirling Fangs (拾じゅうノ牙きば　円えん転てん旋せん牙が, Jū no kiba: Enten Senga?)[29] - The user rapidly spins their swords in a circular motion, deflecting enemy attacks such as projectiles. Sudden Throwing Strike (思おもいつきの投なげ裂さき, Omoitsuki no Nagesaki?)[30] - The user throws both of their blades in a spinning motion at an enemy. Game Exclusive Technique Boar Rush (猪ちょ突とつ猛もう進しん, Chototsu Mōshin?)[31] - The user relentlessly charges towards their opponent ignoring practically all attacks thrown at them. Third Fang: Devour Rush (参さんノ牙きば　猛もう進しん・喰くい裂ざき, San no kiba: Mōshin - Kuizaki?)[31] - The user rushes towards their opponent and stabs them with both blades, dragging them along the ground with their momentum. They then turn and throw them high up into the air, readying the Third Fang: Devour as they slice them in an X-like pattern above them at the falling opponent. Sixth Fang: Palisade Bite, Feral Rush (陸ろくノ牙きば　乱らん杭ぐい咬がみ・爆ばく進しん, Roku no kiba: Ranguigami - Bakushin?)[31] - The user performs a charging headbutt at the opponent to knock them away, then uses Eighth Form: Explosive Rush to close the distance between them, followed up with Sixth Fang: Palisade Bite and a few more slashes to top it off. Inosuke's catch phrases: Inosuke's battle cry and signature phrase is "Boar Assault!" According to a Reddit thread. This is a more literal translation of what he says in Japanese, which is "coming through". The phrase "Boar Assault" is used in the English translation of the manga and anime. Equipment Dual Serrated Nichirin Katanas: Unlike most Demon Slayers, Inosuke wields two Nichirin katanas. They are chipped with numerous gashes within the blade's edge, allowing the swords to rip and tear flesh rather than cause a clean slice, which he prefers. His dual katanas are indigo-gray in color.[32] Inosuke's katanas don't have a tsuba; rather, he wraps the hilt of the katana in cloth. He also doesn't possess a sword sheath and also uses cloth to tie his katanas at either side of his waist. Inosuke breaks his katana twice throughout the course of the series: once during his battle against Father of the Spider Family when he failed to slice through his skin, and again during the final battle against Muzan. Next character tanjiro Appearance Tanjiro is a young man of average height with fairly tanned skin and an athletic, muscular physique. He has ruffled black hair with red tips (and being entirely only burgundy in the anime), combed back to expose his forehead, and wide, dark red eyes with white pupils that appear lighter around the lower section of his irises. He also has a scar on the top left of his forehead, first seen when his mother brought him to watch his father perform the Hinokami Kagura dance. The scar originally looked somewhat like a graze that he got when he saved one of his siblings from a falling pot of boiling water, and it stayed like that until his fight with the Hand Demon during Final Selection, after which it developed into a flame-like pattern as his Demon Slayer Mark. It is noted that his hands are visibly rougher for someone his age, as a result of his rigorous training under Sakonji Urokodaki. Tanjiro looks remarkably similar in appearance to his ancestor Sumiyoshi Kamado, possessing the same facial structure, eyes, and hairstyle as him, although Sumiyoshi's hair was longer, about shoulder-length, and would be tied in a ponytail behind his head. Personality Tanjiro's sad smile at Kazumi's words Tanjiro's warm yet solemn smile. Tanjiro is very kind by nature and has been described by others as having very gentle eyes and a compassionate persona. He exhibits a great deal of determination and will not give up once he has a goal to achieve; the best example of this is his relentless quest to find a cure for Nezuko. Even though he is relatively strong on his own, Tanjiro isn't opposed to asking others for help when he needs it. He is very protective of his friends, and even more so of his younger sister. However, despite his kind and understanding nature, Tanjiro does have a limit to his tolerance and has a distaste for rudeness and cowardice, as he easily becomes annoyed by Zenitsu Agatsuma's constant whining and angered by Inosuke Hashibira's barbaric actions. Tanjiro is direct and very honest, taking everyone's words with sincerity and seriousness. Upon hearing Tengen Uzui claim he is a god, he asked what area he was the god of. He has difficulty lying, and doing so causes his face to contort severely as his honest nature clashes with the insincerity of his words. Having grown up in the countryside of Japan, Tanjiro has no experience of life in large urban areas. During his missions to Asakusa and Yoshiwara, he stared in wonder at the bright lights enveloping the cities. He naively believed the Mugen train was perhaps the land's guardian spirit, and, just like Inosuke, he does not know what a red-light district is. Tanjiro's eyes becoming bloodshot due to his rage Tanjiro enraged by Daki's apathy for taking innocent lives. Under Tanjiro's rather kind and friendly shell is a person with a growing fire of rage and vengeance inside of them. This side of him leaks out when Tanjiro first confronts Muzan, ready to take out his sword and attack him. When Muzan escapes, Tanjiro releases his frustration and declares he will be the one to kill Muzan. On Mount Natagumo, when the captured Demon Slayers had their necks snapped by the Mother Spider Demon's threads, Tanjiro showed noticeable anger that even Inosuke sensed. Upon seeing Daki smirking after witnessing her slaughter innocent people indiscriminately with her sashes, he seethed with rage and confronted her alone. This side of Tanjiro is fully exemplified after Muzan's speech, where he compares himself to a natural disaster. Tanjiro responds to that by calling Muzan "a being that should not exist." In the face of irrational evil, Tanjiro shows a more cold and terrifying side of himself, acting more violently towards his opponents as a result.Tanjiro's most notable attribute is his ability to empathize with anyone, even demons, which often makes him hesitate before delivering the final blow. Tanjiro has a unique ideology regarding demons, believing that those who have committed evil should be killed without mercy, but those who regret their actions should not be belittled after their deaths, showing great nuance and maturity in Tanjiro's thinking, probably brought about by his sister. However, as Tanjiro gains experience over the years of his service, he becomes more calculating and strict in his decisions. His courage to protect the weak commits him to face his enemies with respect and dignity, whether they are good people or evil demons. Tanjiro is adamant about serving justice to the evil by any means necessary, even declaring to cut off the heads of demons who have committed heinous crimes and confronting them about their inhumane mindset and their criminal deeds. Abilities. After officially becoming a member of the Demon Slayer Corps, Tanjiro faces numerous more powerful and skilled demons, most of whom utilize Blood Demon Arts. Against the Swamp Demon, Tanjiro and Nezuko managed to subdue the demon and its clones, saving the lives of an innocent woman and bystander in the process. When faced with the likes of Yahaba and Susamaru, more skilled and fearsome demons than before, Tanjiro's tactical intellect and swordsmanship skills allowed him to behead Yahaba on his own while also managing to hold his own against Susamaru. During his mission in the Tsuzumi Mansion, Tanjiro encountered Kyogai, a former member of the Twelve Kizuki, an organization of the twelve strongest demons in existence, and was capable of analyzing and adapting to his unorthodox mansion-shifting Blood Demon Art and defeating him. Despite still being the lowest rank in the organization, Tanjiro could hold his own against demons who shared the powers of an actual member of the Twelve Kizuki, namely the Mother and Father of the Spider Family, and later held his own against the member himself, Rui, who held the position of Lower Rank Five. After recalling the Hinokami Kagura, a Breathing Style he learned from his father as a child, he almost defeated the Lower Rank demon, a feat that many believed only a Hashira, the strongest swordsmen in the entirety of the Demon Slayer Corps, could pull off. During Rehabilitation Training following his battles in Mount Natagumo, Tanjiro recovered from injuries and trained with Kanao Tsuyuri, an extremely talented Demon Slayer, and the Tsuguko of the Insect Hashira, Shinobu Kocho, eventually enabling him to match her. After mastering Total Concentration: Constant (全ぜん集しゅう中ちゅう・常じょう中ちゅう, Zen Shūchū Jōchū?), which further enhanced his physical abilities, Tanjiro was capable of fighting and beheading Lower Rank One, Enmu, on his own, even managing to come up with a countermeasure to the demon's spells in the midst of battle and possessing enough willpower to commit suicide in his dreams repeatedly in order to follow through with his plan. Later, with the help of Nezuko, Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Kyojuro Rengoku, Tanjiro decapitates the strongest Lower Rank, despite the demon fusing himself with an entire train and him being under a constant barrage of attacks. With the death of Kyojuro at the hands of Upper Rank Three, Akaza, the Flame Hashira's dying words served as a major incentive for Tanjiro to push on, serving as a major factor in his growth as a Demon Slayer. Tanjiro fends off Daki's sash attacks Tanjiro trades blows with Daki's numerous obi attacks. After the battle, Tanjiro could keep up and fend off attacks from Daki, an Upper Rank demon, a being that has lived for over a century and has eaten seven Hashira during her lifetime, although it was implied she was toying with Tanjiro during their battle. Even after Daki regained full strength in the middle of the battle, an enraged Tanjiro managed to easily overpower her, coming as close as slicing off her neck without her being able to retaliate, although he had run out of stamina and nearly died before he could behead her. While injured, Tanjiro managed to assist a poisoned Tengen Uzui against Gyutaro, the true Upper Rank Six, and later outsmarted and decapitated him while awakening the Demon Slayer Mark momentarily. Thus, Tanjiro became one of the first Demon Slayers to ever kill an Upper Rank, a feat that hasn't been accomplished for the last century. Additionally, Mitsuri Kanroji later stated that surviving a battle against an Upper Rank demon equates to around 5 to 10 years of intensive training. Hard Skull: Tanjiro has an innately strong skull, which the Temple Demon compares to a rock. During certain situations, he can headbutt the opponent hard enough to stun them or knock them out completely; in some situations, he can even cause their head to bleed upon impact. Managing to hit the Temple Demon twice in a row without being stunned shows he is capable of doing it more than once. The full power of this attack is shown to give Inosuke a delayed concussion, while Tanjiro suffered no backlash from it. Tanjiro also head-butted the Wind Hashira, Sanemi Shinazugawa, having temporarily stunned him, leaving the other Hashira impressed by its durability. Tanjiro also used this to temporarily stun Gyutaro, Upper Rank Six, and used the opportunity to gain an upper hand over him. Furthermore, he caused Akaza, Upper Rank Three, to bleed when he headbutted him. Indomitable Will: Tanjiro possesses an undaunted will and spirit, being able to fight and engage in battle against enemies stronger than him with his sheer will alone to kill Demons and protect his sister even when he sustained severe injuries and wounds. The death of his family also played a big role in his insurmountable willpower; his visions of his family members urging him on during times of crisis allowed him to pull through any hardship. During his mission on Mount Natagumo, Tanjiro was willing to sacrifice his life for his sister, relying on nothing but sheer determination to fight through Rui's attacks to kill him. When he was in a battle with Enmu, he displayed his supernatural willpower by committing suicide relentlessly in his dreams in order to awaken from the demon's sleep spell, a feat that even Enmu thought was insane.[20] After Kyojuro was killed in a battle with Akaza, his final words and actions had a major impact on Tanjiro's mindset and willpower, increasing it to unprecedented levels, as shown when he didn't give up no matter how hopeless a situation was, even in the face of Upper Rank demons. His spirit also played a big role in the final moments of Muzan's death, where his will allowed him to overcome Muzan's blood and return back to being a human again. Tactical Intellect: In battle, Tanjiro demonstrates high tactical intelligence, being keenly analytical and sagacious, as well as showing a natural aptitude and innate intuition in many varied areas. Even against opponents that heavily outmatch him in multiple categories, Tanjiro is capable of creating strategies to beat an opponent on the fly and in danger, even if it results in his own death. Upon seeing a fighting style once, Tanjiro can analyze it, and it is even possible for him to accomplish such a feat even in the midst of a constantly shifting location where he lacks any environmental advantage or benefit.[21]Tanjiro has been noted to be very adaptive against any opponent, as well as having an explosive growth rate. Furthermore, he is very talented at using his opponent's abilities against them.[22] Even if the opponent offers no real details or specifics on their power, Tanjiro can pick up subtle phrases and words used throughout their fights to deduce the ability in a short amount of time, as he had done in the battle against Akaza. He has conjured new abilities and new Breathing Styles forms, utilizing them effectively upon using them once,[23][24] and even been able to combine techniques despite not being fully proficient in either of them, such as when he combined Water Breathing and Hinokami Kagura together in order to save Hinatsuru from Gyutaro[25], which he later used once again inside the Infinity Castle to slay dozens of demons. Combat Intuition: This trait of Tanjiro's was pointed out by Giyu during their first encounter, in which Tanjiro skillfully laid out a plan to attack Giyu by surprise by charging towards him, not showing the Demon Slayer that he was unarmed, and bringing down Giyu with a hatchet he had thrown in the air beforehand. The attack failed, but Giyu was still very impressed by Tanjiro's plan, especially considering he was simply an ordinary person at the time. Furthermore, Tanjiro also showed proficiency in hand-to-hand combat despite never practicing martial arts before, allowing him to hold his own and adapt instantly to Inosuke's animalistic, unarmed fighting style. Immense Strength: After his training at Mount Sagiri, Tanjiro has gained incredible arm and leg strength and has demonstrated a great use of it, jumping over the humongous Hand Demon and leaping over buildings effortlessly. Tanjiro also casually broke Genya's arm and later shattered Inosuke's ribs and sent him flying, all with a single punch. With his katana, he could swing with enough force to slice through gigantic boulders and entire trees. While training, Tanjiro is capable of doing hundreds of push-ups at once, along with a plethora of other intensive strength-related exercises. When not out doing his missions, he frequently trains his body to its uttermost limit in order to be strong enough to perform his duties as a Demon Slayer and to fufill his goal of killing Muzan the strongest Demon. When he was posing as a courtesan, he was shown to carry dozens of large boxes easily, and when he was angered, he ripped off an Upper Rank's leg. When he was training with Gyomei Himejima, he was tasked with lifting three enormous logs on his back and pushing a boulder through town. He later managed to cut off Akaza's head, a feat that even Kyojuro couldn't accomplish. Tanjiro destroys Daki's sashes Tanjiro's superhuman movement speed. Immense Speed & Reflexes: Tanjiro possesses tremendous speed and reflexes; even before entering Final Selection, he is shown being able to travel faster than the eye can see and outpace Sabito, an extremely skilled swordsman who was initially able to easily move faster than Tanjiro can process. Furthermore, he can react to the blistering movement speeds of demons even before he starts using Total Concentration Constant (全ぜん集しゅう中ちゅう・常じょう中ちゅう, Zen Shūchū Jōchū?). After a few months of training at the Butterfly Mansion, his speed and reflexes could match those of the strongest members of the Lower Ranks of the Twelve Kizuki. When angered, he was able to move faster than Daki, an Upper Rank demon, could even react. Tanjiro has also shown the ability to casually blitz lower-level demons and ordinary humans. He later was able to blitz three of Hantengu's clones simultaneously and keep up with Akaza, one of the fastest demons in existence. After awakening his Demon Slayer Mark, Tanjiro's speed increases even further, to the point that even Akaza couldn't react in time and process his movements. After awakening his Demon Slayer Mark, Tanjiro gains extremely sharp reflexes, dodging and reacting to attacks from both Akaza and the Demon King, Muzan Kibutsuji, who was able to blitz Giyu, Sanemi, Obanai, Gyomei, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Kanao all at once. Immense Stamina & Endurance: Tanjiro has incredible stamina and endurance, even before he became a Demon Slayer. This was evident when he had to train in a mountain with oxygen levels lower than those of a thick bog, dodging armed booby traps, running up and down the mountain constantly, and improving his swordsmanship skills and physique all while under these harsh conditions for around two years. His stamina and endurance were further improved having mastered Total Concentration: Constant (全ぜん集しゅう中ちゅう・常じょう中ちゅう, Zen Shūchū Jōchū?), allowing him to stay in the Total Concentration Breathing state 24/7. His stamina increased even further after he mastered the Hinokami Kagura, the same Breathing Style that allowed his sickly father to dance from dusk until dawn in the snow while barely clothed. Through the use of Recovering Breathing, Tanjiro can quickly recover from fatigue and was able to subdue a berserk Nezuko despite crossing his stamina limit and nearly losing his life a few moments prior. Despite having his bottom jaw impaled by Gyutaro's kama, Tanjiro barely showed any signs of pain at all. When training with Kotetsu, Tanjiro was able to endure an extremely intensive training session for seven days non-stop, with no food, no sleep, and barely any water, which he obtained when it was raining, while also getting constantly injured and beaten. He was also in battle with Lower Rank-level demons for 5 hours in the Infinity Castle and was still able to hold his own and defeat Upper Rank Three, Akaza, and later went on to engage in a skirmish with the Demon King, Muzan Kibutsuji, for 1 hour and 30 minutes till dawn. Furthermore, he lasted one of the longest out of all the other Hashira and Hashira-level combatants while still being able to tolerate all the damage and injuries he sustained from Muzan Kibutsuji's fatal poison and physical attacks. Nearing the end of the battle, Tanjiro barely showed any reaction when his arm was blown off by one of Muzan's attacks. Supernatural Abilities Tanjiro tracks down Hantengu's scent Tanjiro tracks down Hantengu's scent through a thick forest. Enhanced Smell: Tanjiro possesses an extremely sharp sense of smell. Before becoming a Demon Slayer, Tanjiro was known in a village as a boy who had an extremely strong sense of smell. He is able to pick up even the most subtle of scents and track their location with terrifying accuracy over long distances. It is strong enough for him to smell the Opening Thread, the slight pause in an enemy's movement that allows him an opening in which to strike. His sense of smell is so keen that he can perceive his surroundings through scent alone.[33] Extrasensory Perception: Through his heightened sense of smell, Tanjiro can perceive things outside the normal range of perception, like the intentions, feelings, and thoughts of other creatures, even animals such as insects and birds. He can also sense the aura and presences of demons and even tell their strength level at a glance by how disgusting and rotten their scent is. Pseudo-Precognition: When training with Yoriichi Type Zero, Tanjiro's sense of smell evolved further to be able to predict up to six moves into the future, being capable of foreseeing the actions and intentions of others merely through scent, even of non-living things like Yoriichi Type Zero itself.[34] Tanjiro noted that the smell of the future was different and much faster compared to the smell of the 'Opening Thread', giving him reflexes and movements comparable to a Hashira and allowing him to go toe to toe with Hantengu's clones early on. Fighting Style Tanjiro defends from Daki's fierce attacks Tanjiro's swordsmanship skill enabling him to defend himself from an Upper Rank's fierce onslaught. Master Swordsman: Tanjiro was always shown to be a sword-fighting prodigy, starting out with skill rivaling Sabito, one of Sakonji Urokodaki's strongest students, surpassing him in half a year's time, and avenging his death by defeating the Hand Demon. Despite being Mizunoto-ranked, his skill with the sword was superior to many of his seniors, even to the point of defeating two Lower Ranked members of the Twelve Kizuki. His improvement in swordsmanship is also exceptional, as shown when he could take on Upper Rank demons months after recovering from injuries and not having experience fighting enemies of that caliber in the past. This is evident as he managed to keep up and defend from Daki's fierce onslaught of sash attacks as well as Gyutaro's attacks, despite the latter being immensely skilled in wielding his pair of Kama and possessing over a century of experience in wielding them. Mitsuri Kanroji commented that accomplishing such a feat was equivalent to 5 to 10 years of harsh training. With intensive training in the Swordsmith Village, his skills and prowess with the blade could match those of the Hashira, the most powerful sword wielders in the entirety of the Demon Slayer Corps. Tanjiro later managed to match and surpass Akaza, the third strongest member of the Twelve Kizuki and a martial arts prodigy with over a century worth of experience in hand-to-hand combat. Despite not being as skilled as Yoriichi Tsugikuni, he was still able to fight on equal ground with Muzan while poisoned and exhausted, showing his immense proficiency in the blade, thus making him one of, if not the strongest swordsman of the current generation. Breathing Style Water Breathing (水みずの呼こ吸きゅう, Mizu no kokyū?): Taught to him by Sakonji Urokodaki, a previous Water Hashira and Water Breathing Cultivator, this was Tanjiro's initial Breathing Style. He became extremely proficient in it, to the point where he could modify pre-existing forms to suit the circumstances. He also used Water Breathing to take on two members of the Twelve Kizuki, namely Rui and Enmu. However, due to his body not being suited to Water Breathing's techniques, Tanjiro decided to switch to the Hinokami Kagura as his main Breathing Style. Despite this, Tanjiro has not abandoned what he was taught, combining Water Breathing with the Hinokami Kagura, due to the strain Hinokami Kagura placed on his body, in order to have stronger strikes than when he used Water Breathing alone and move for longer periods than if he used Hinokami Kagura alone. He did this to save Hinatsuru from Gyutaro[25], and later used it once again inside the Infinity Castle to slay dozens of demons. Hinokami Kagura (ヒノカミ神楽かぐら, Hinokami Kagura?): During his near-death experience in his battle with Rui, Tanjiro awakened this in a memory of his father teaching him this Breathing Style. As his body was more suited to the Hinokami Kagura, he quickly overpowered the Lower Rank demon. However, the sheer force and fatigue it placed on his untrained body caused him to collapse and weaken significantly when using it; thus he, only saved it for last-ditch attempts to beat his adversaries. After his battle with Enmu, Tanjiro trained more so that his body could take the strain of its techniques and was capable of using multiple forms in succession in his battle against Daki, although the whiplash from doing so became quickly apparent. Still, through battling Hantengu and undergoing Hashira Training, Tanjiro finally managed to master all the forms in the Hinokami Kagura, using it to its full potential against Akaza. When Tanjiro fully witnessed all the forms performed by Yoriichi Tsugikuni, he realized his own Hinokami Kagura had unnecessary movements, different wrist angles, footwork, and breathing rhythm. Removing them enabled him to awaken the legendary Sun Breathing (日ひの呼こ吸きゅう, Hi no kokyū?),[38] and he was able to temporarily battle on equal grounds with the Demon King, Muzan Kibutsuji, to the point that Muzan saw Yoriichi's visage overlapping with Tanjiro's own when he was performing the techniques against him. Techniques Tanjiro using First Form Water Surface Slash to kill Hand Demon Tanjiro using First Form: Water Surface Slash to decapitate the Hand Demon. First Form: Water Surface Slash (壱いちノ型かた　水みな面も斬ぎり, Ichi no kata: Minamo Giri?)[39] - The user generates enough momentum to create a powerful single concentrated slash. Second Form: Water Wheel (弐にノ型かた　水みず車ぐるま, Ni no kata: Mizu Guruma?)[40] - The user leaps and vertically spins forward in the air while releasing a flowing attack in a circular motion. Second Form: Improved, Lateral Water Wheel (弐にノ型かた・改かい　横よこ水みず車ぐるま, Ni no kata kai: Yoko Mizu Guruma?)[41] - An alternate variation of Second Form: Water Wheel that unleashes a horizontal spin instead of a vertical one. Third Form: Flowing Dance (参さんノ型かた　流りゅう流りゅう舞まい, San no kata: Ryūryū Mai?)[42] - The user swings and bends their blade in a winding motion along with their body and dances in a flowing pattern, slicing everything in its path. Fourth Form: Striking Tide (肆しノ型かた　打うち潮しお, Shi no kata: Uchishio?)[43] - The user makes multiple consecutive slashes while twisting their body and sword in a flowing fashion to deliver multiple blows simultaneously. Striking Tide: Turbulent (打うち潮しお・乱らん, Uchishio - Ran?)[44] - An improved version of the Fourth Form: Striking Tide. Tanjiro increases the quantity of consecutive strikes and slashes along with improving its accuracy in order to contact a specific target during a chaotic situation. Tanjiro using Fifth Form on Mother Spider Demon Tanjiro painlessly beheads the Mother Spider Demon using Fifth Form: Blessed Rain After the Drought. Fifth Form: Blessed Rain After the Drought (伍ごノ型かた　干かん天てんの慈じ雨う, Go no kata: Kanten no Jiu?)[45] - The user changes the grip on their sword and decapitates the opponent in a single flowing strike that causes little to no pain. It is a “sword strike of kindness” used when the enemy willingly surrenders. Sixth Form: Whirlpool (陸ろくノ型かた　ねじれ渦うず, Roku no kata: Nejire Uzu?)[46] - The user fiercely twists their upper and lower bodies, creating a whirlpool of air that cuts anything caught in it. Its effect and efficiency are enhanced underwater, where they can draw water around their weapon to enhance their slashes. Whirlpool, Flow (ねじれ渦うず・流りゅう流りゅう, Nejire Uzu - Ryūryū?)[47] - A combination of Third Form: Flowing Dance and Sixth Form: Whirlpool created by Tanjiro. It combines the footwork from Flowing Dance and the twisting movements of Whirlpool, resulting in the swordsman performing an attack around him and conjuring a twisting, swirling, vicious flow of water to redirect projectiles from multiple angles. Seventh Form: Drop Ripple Thrust (漆しちノ型かた　雫しずく波は紋もん突づき, Shichi no kata: Shizuku Hamon Tsuki?)[48] - The user performs a precise, fast, and accurate thrust with their blade. Drop Ripple Thrust, Curve (雫しずく波は紋もん突づき・曲きょく, Shizuku Hamon Tsuki - Kyoku?)[49] - A modified strike that hits from a specific angle corresponding to the sword's structure, which nearly nullifies the impact and momentum of a moving object. Eighth Form: Waterfall Basin (捌はちノ型かた　滝たき壼つぼ, Hachi no kata: Takitsubo?)[50] - The user cuts the target vertically in a flowing motion, which is most effective when they are falling downward. Ninth Form: Splashing Water Flow, Turbulent (玖くノ型かた　水すい流りゅう飛沫しぶき・乱らん, Ku no kata: Suiryū Shibuki - Ran?)[51] - The user changes their footwork in a way that minimizes the landing time and surface needed when landing, allowing them to move without limits. It is ideal when fighting in a place with no solid foothold. Tenth Form: Constant Flux (拾じゅうノ型かた　生せい生せい流る転てん, Jū no kata: Seisei Ruten?)[52] - The user performs a continuous flowing attack which takes the form of a water dragon that increases in strength and power with each rotation due to momentum. Dance (円えん舞ぶ, Enbu?)[53] - The user delivers a single high-powered vertical slash. Dancing Flash (円えん舞ぶ一いっ閃せん, Enbu Issen?)[54] Tanjiro beheading Urami with Dancing Flash Tanjiro beheads Urami with Dancing Flash. - A modified version of Dance developed and utilized only by Tanjiro. He infuses the Thunderclap and Flash technique of Thunder Breathing into the high-powered slash of Dance by inhaling huge amounts of oxygen, increasing the pumping of blood through his entire body, focusing it on his legs, and releasing it all to assault the target with a slash. This technique was capable of out-speeding Genya Shinazugawa, Nezuko Kamado, and the fleeing Hantengu. Clear Blue Sky (碧へき羅らの天てん, Heki-ra no Ten?)[55] - The user spins their body horizontally to deliver a 360° slash. Raging Sun (烈れつ日じつ紅こう鏡きょう, Retsujitsu Kōkyō?)[56] - The user unleashes two horizontal slashes to hit or defend themselves from incoming attacks. Burning Bones, Summer Sun (灼しゃっ骨こつ炎えん陽よう, Shakkotsu En'yō?)[57] - The user unleashes a large circular slash that defends them from imminent frontal attacks. Setting Sun Transformation (斜しゃ陽よう転てん身しん, Shayō Tenshin?)[58] - The user backflips into the air to deliver a powerful upended sword slash that aims to decapitate their target. Solar Heat Haze (飛ひ輪りん陽かげ炎ろう, Hirin Kagerō?)[59] - The user charges towards the target, unleashing a horizontal slash seemingly covered in haze that fails to land, but actually does hit the target. Beneficent Radiance (輝き輝き恩おん光こう, Kiki Onkō?)[60] - The user spirals into the air and delivers a powerful slash that surrounds the enemy. Sunflower Thrust (陽よう華か突とつ, Yōkatotsu?)[61][62] - The user unleashes a single thrust attack with the point of the blade. Sun Halo Dragon Head Dance (Anime) Tanjiro uses Sun Halo Dragon Head Dance to behead Hantengu's clones. Sun Halo Dragon Head Dance (日にち暈うんの龍りゅう・頭かぶり舞まい, Nichiun no Ryū Kaburimai?)[63] - The user unleashes a continuous fast and powerful sword attack that takes the form of a Japanese dragon made of solar flames. This technique is capable of decapitating multiple targets at once. Fire Wheel (火か車しゃ, Kasha?)[64] - The user leaps behind the opponent and spins in the air downward, releasing a sword attack in a circular motion. Fake Rainbow (幻げん日にち虹こう, Gen'nichi Kō?)[65] - The user performs high-speed twists and rotations, thus creating afterimages used mostly to evade attacks. The afterimages work most effectively on enemies with good vision.[65] Flame Dance (炎えん舞ぶ, Enbu?)[66] - A two-combo strike that starts with a vertical slash and then a horizontal one right after. Thirteenth Form (拾じゅう参さんノ型かた, Jū San no kata?)[67] - The user continuously performs all twelve forms of Sun Breathing in repetitive succession to increase the accuracy and agility of his movements while reducing fatigue. This form was created solely for the purpose of killing Muzan Kibutsuji, since the repetition of all twelve forms aims to destroy Muzan's twelve vital organs (seven hearts and five brains) that move freely inside his body. Game Exclusive Techniques Cross Slash (弐に連れん袈け裟さ斬ぎり, Nirenkesa Giri?)[68] - Tanjiro ignites his sword with solar flames and releases two arching flame slashes at his opponent, each individually making an "X" shaped slice. Scorching Rush (早はや駆がけ斬ぎり, Hayagake Giri?)[68] - Tanjiro rushes forward with a flaming sword and performs a 5-move combo as follows: a low-ended strike from the left, a low-ended strike from the right that lifts him off the ground briefly, a spinning wave attack, a powerful forward upward slash, and finally an overhead downward slash. Phoenix Flash (瞬しゅん転てん斬ぎり, Shunten Giri?)[68] - Tanjiro disappears in a flash of fire before reappearing from the fire in mid-air, either upright, where they perform a massive overhead circular slash, or upside-down, where he performs an angled 360° sword slash. TBA[69] - An alternative version of Sun Halo Dragon Head Dance by Tanjiro Kamado notable for the collaborative usage of Nezuko Kamado's Blood Demon Art. The siblings coordinate their attacks to strike their opponent with Sun Breathing and combustible blood slashes simultaneously, with Tanjiro taking the lead and with a fluid motion in the form of a Japanese dragon made of solar flames, so powerful that it looks like the opponent is being eaten. Afterwords, Nezuko cuts her hand on her brother's blade, coating it in her blood and activating her Blood Demon Art. The siblings then lunge at the opponent in sync, and finish with an extremely powerful and Blood Demon Art-amplified version of Sun Halo Dragon Head Dance. Equipment Standard Nichirin Katana: As a Demon Slayer, Tanjiro carries around a standard-sized and shaped Nichirin katana. When he was training under Sakonji Urokodaki, Tanjiro used a katana with a dull blue blade and a tsuba, which was oval-shaped with four indentations and dull gray in color. Tanjiro also uses this during Final Selection. After the test, he selected an ore, which would be made into his first Nichirin katana by the swordsmith Hotaru Haganezuka. His Nichirin katana is obsidian black in color, and the original tsuba is a black ring connected to its core by lines with a border of the same color, which heavily resembles a wagon wheel. Along with his katana, Tanjiro has a standard saya that is obsidian black in color. Tanjiro damaged or broke his sword a total of three times: the first in his fight with Rui when the latter's thread cut it in half, the second when Akaza punched it into pieces in a fit of rage after impaling him as he fled, and the third during his fight with Daki when he chipped the blade after clashing with the Upper Rank. After the events in the Swordsmith Village, he switched to using the katana he found inside Yoriichi Type Zero that was sharpened and polished by Hotaru Haganezuka. His katana's original tsuba was switched to the one used by the late Kyojuro Rengoku, which is shaped like a flame with a red core and orange border. The new blade was not observed to change color, being already in deep black but having a more intricate pattern with the word Slay (滅めつ, Metsu?) engraved on the side. It is implied to be stronger than the standard Nichirin Katana, as Haganezuka mentioned that the steel was of especially high quality.[72] Despite Tanjiro's notorious habit of damaging his swords, this sword broke only at the end of his final fight with Muzan Kibutsuji. It was then subsequently repaired and displayed as a decoration in his descendants' house. Nect character is Zenitsu Appearance Zenitsu is a young man of average height with fair skin and downward-sloped, worried-looking eyes that fade from soft brown to gold and golden, forked eyebrows that sharply fade into a warm orange color. He has short, yellow hair of varying lengths, cutting off squarely at the ends where it fades to a darker orange color, that falls in front of his face in uneven bangs, loosely resembling a bowl cut. Before he became a Demon Slayer, Zenitsu's hair was originally black, but it turned the color it is currently when he was struck by lightning during his training.[2] For some time following the battle at Mount Natagumo, his limbs temporarily shrank to Son's poison but were able to return to normal afterward thanks to medicine he had taken developed by Shinobu Kocho.[4] He wears a paler brown version of the standard Demon Slayer uniform, which consists of a dark brown button-up jacket, a white belt around his waist, and tattsuke hakama pants that extend, as well as his signature white-triangle-patterned, yellow-and-orange gradient haori. He has rather low self-esteem despite his talent and strength, even considering himself useless. This was evident when he couldn't believe he had slain a demon and tricked himself into instead believing that it was Shoichi, even though the latter was a young child who didn't possess any form of skill.[6] Zenitsu is in a constant state of fear, and he frequently tries to run away at the sight of danger, claiming he wants to live a modest, normal life instead of that of a Demon Slayer. Due to this, Zenitsu screams and shouts a lot, much to the annoyance of the people around him. He is also shown to be pessimistic at times, especially during Hashira Training, where he lashed out at Tanjiro and Inosuke for viewing the training positively. In spite of his weaknesses, Zenitsu desires to live up to the expectations others have set for him and will try his hardest when he needs to. He holds great respect and admiration for his comrades and his deceased teacher, Jigoro Kuwajima, and his inner focus and drive to avenge him help to wash away his cowardice and second thoughts when he is in a pinch. Zenitsu also hates himself for how cowardly and incompetent he is, despite genuinely striving to better himself. Zenitsu crushing on Nezuko EP15 Zenitsu's blatant crush on Nezuko. Zenitsu is also shown to be something of a wannabe womanizer, stemming from a desire to not be single should he be killed. He tends to hit on girls who he thinks are cute and asks them to marry him, much to their annoyance.[7] This womanizing nature is shown to override his docile and quiet personality, particularly when he believes his comrades are "flirting" with cute girls; he would snap and go on long hysterical rants and complaints. Zenitsu is shown to have a strong attraction to Nezuko, openly expressing his affection for her and always rushing to protect her as if on instinct. During these times, he is also shown to become physically aggressive, lashing out at people in frustration.[8] Though, despite his shallow behaviour in this regard, Zenitsu does show respect for women, telling Daki to let go of a girl that Daki nearly tore the ear off of and later demanding that she apologize, showing no fear at all in front of the enraged Upper Rank demon. In spite of his cowardly demeanour and somewhat pathetic attempts to gain the attention of women, he has shown level-headedness on rare occasions, becoming annoyed by his comrades' shenanigans, such as Tanjiro's kind naivety, Inosuke's bombastic personality, Kyojuro's boisterous and loud character, and Tengen's self-glorifying proclamations. As such, he typically squabbles with Inosuke when the latter goes on with his loud demands and boasts. Additionally, as the only one to have grown up in the city, Zenitsu is the most street-smart of the trio, being the most familiar with urban environments and Japan's industrialization. As such, he became frustrated with his partners' lack of understanding, namely Tanjiro and Inosuke's inability to recognize a train. Zenitsu realizes something he must do Hurt by grief, Zenitsu reveals a more serious side of his character. Before the battle in the Infinity Castle, Zenitsu gives off a different, more serious impression, as if he is focused on something important, even disregarding Tanjiro's worries for him as he claims there is something he must do by himself. This development occurred after receiving a letter from Chuntaro, which revealed his master's death and Kaigaku's role behind it.[9] During his fight against Kaigaku, Zenitsu is stern and becomes enraged, causing him to angrily yell at him for disrespecting their cultivator.[10] His sudden change surprises his former senior, as Zenitsu shows a more mature persona compared to his usual cowardice. Abilities Overall Abilities Zenitsu using Thunderclap and Flash on Tongue Demon Zenitsu decapitates a demon instantly. From the beginning, Zenitsu comes off as a talented and skilled Demon Slayer, though he denies this. His strength awakens when he is asleep, as his nervous demeanour is what normally keeps him from accessing his abilities, making him more sagacious, calm, and precise in combat. This allowed him to instantly decapitate the Tongue Demon and defeat the Son of the Spider Family by himself. He was later able to defend three entire train carts being attacked by Enmu, Lower Rank One, along with Nezuko. A few months after that, he was able to go toe-to-toe with an awakened Daki with the assistance of Inosuke, and later managed to blitz her with Thunderclap and Flash: Godspeed. As further credence to his strength, Zenitsu was able to advance to the highest point of the Hashira Training. Honoikazuchi no Kami Zenitsu singlehandedly killing an Upper Rank demon. However, the greatest extent of his powers manifests when Zenitsu fights while awake, as he managed to outmatch the new Upper Rank Six, Kaigaku, in speed by himself and was later blitzed and decapitated before he could react, although he had still sustained several severe injuries. Moreover, Zenitsu's initial reluctance to kill Kaigaku came from recalling how he was once someone he cared about and looked up to, was the only thing that gave the Upper Rank the initial advantage, hinting that he could have simply killed him from the beginning if he so desired. Later on, he could keep up with and battle the Demon King, Muzan Kibutsuji, albeit while severely weakened by the Anti-Kibutsuji Drug. Nonetheless, Zenitsu's strength more than likely matched that of the Hashira by the end of the series. Indomitable Will: In spite of his initial cowardice and reluctance to fight, Zenitsu nonetheless possesses indomitable willpower and spirit. This was displayed when he absolutely refused to let Inosuke kill the demon inside Tanjiro's box and protected it to the end despite getting relentlessly beat up by Inosuke. While he was asleep, during the battle against Daki, Zenitsu had the willpower to continue fighting despite sustaining numerous slash wounds all over his body and having his feet broken.[11] Through sheer will and anger, Zenitsu was able to overcome his cowardice and stay awake in battle against demons, as shown during his bout with Kaigaku and Muzan, especially in the fight with the latter, in which he refused to give up and persisted despite being enervated and injured. Tactical Intellect: Even when fighting unconscious, Zenitsu has displayed incredible judgement and tactical intellect. When fighting consciously, this ability is fully released. This ability was best exhibited during his battle against Upper Rank Six, Daki. When Inosuke made an erroneous deduction about her weaknesses, Zenitsu correctly explained that all they needed to do was keep both demons' heads disconnected to kill them. After his bout with Kaigaku commenced, he was able to clearly think and process his techniques and demonic abilities. Unconscious Combat: Zenitsu has the ability to fight when he sleeps, which allows him to awaken his true strength. While awake, his nerves and fear cause him to freeze up, so he cannot move. When his life is in danger, his nerves and fear grow so strong that he passes out. But while asleep, his nerves are no longer holding him back, allowing him to fight and move with great judgement, precision, and skill. His hearing also plays a big part in allowing Zenitsu to fight unconsciously, as it enables him to discern his surroundings and the location of his enemies and their attacks. This also allows him to fight even after he falls victim to Enmu's spell, which makes anyone go into deep sleep. Physical Abilities Enhanced Strength: Zenitsu has attained amazing physical strength through years of harsh training. Zenitsu can hold down Inosuke Hashibira with his bare hands and throw his entire body by grabbing and swinging one of his legs.[12] Most importantly, Zenitsu has incredible leg strength, allowing him to jump extremely high and move at blistering speeds to perform his Thunder Breathing techniques. He was also able to damage the body of Muzan, whose body has the highest durability out of all the demons, further testifying to his incredible physical strength. Immense Speed & Reflexes: Zenitsu is extremely fast, being able to easily move faster than even the eye can see. Even during the beginning of his career as a Demon Slayer, it is plainly obvious that his speed far outclassed that of lesser demons such as the Tongue Demon and Son of the Spider Family. During both skirmishes, neither demon was able to hit Zenitsu when he was actively engaged in the battle, and both were completely unable to react to the speed of his attacks. During the battle against Enmu, he was able to save Nezuko from Lower Rank One's flesh appendages and could slice through many of them before Enmu could react. As he progresses, his speed has improved to the point that his movements can't be perceived by Upper Rank demons like Daki and Kaigaku, the former's reflexes having been amplified multiple times during the fight and the latter being a user of the same Breathing Style as Zenitsu. Moreover, Zenitsu could move faster than Kaigaku's lightning-based Blood Demon Art and cut his neck before the attack reached him. Most impressively, Zenitsu could land multiple hits on the imperceptibly fast Demon King, Muzan Kibutsuji, with his techniques, although he was severely weakened then. Immense Stamina & Endurance: Zenitsu has incredible stamina and endurance. He has been shown to continue fighting even after being affected by lethal poison from the Son Spider Demon that was gradually weakening him and turning him into a spider. He was also able to defend three train cars with Nezuko for an extended period of time without tiring out. Later, Zenitsu, along with Inosuke, engaged in combat with Upper Rank Six, Daki, for an extended period of time. Even after receiving numerous wounds from the Upper Rank and later getting trapped under rubble, Zenitsu had enough stamina left to unleash his Thunderclap and Flash: Godspeed technique twice: once to get out of the rubble and the second time to blitz Daki. He was able to continue fighting with Kaigaku even after being on the receiving end of multiple Blood Demon Art-enhanced Thunder Breathing techniques that burned his skin and eventually summoned enough power to use his ultimate technique and blitz him. Zenitsu was even able to exert himself for around half an hour during the fight against Muzan, even being able to surpass his limit of only being able to use his Thunderclap and Flash: Godspeed technique twice a day before his legs gave out. Supernatural Abilities Zenitsu putting his hearing abilities to the test Zenitsu deciphering layers of noise with his hearing. Enhanced Hearing: Zenitsu possesses a heightened sense of hearing, allowing him to detect danger from even the faintest of sounds. With this, he has displayed the ability to decipher layers upon layers of sound in one of the brothels and even in the Infinity Castle. As another testament to his great sound detection ability, he can perfectly replicate any tune he hears on a shamisen and koto only after listening to it once for the first time,[13] possessing perfect pitch despite having no musical background. Zenitsu's exceptional hearing also enables him to fight in his sleep, an impressive feat as he has no visual aid and can only use sound to discern his surroundings while keeping up with the attacks of demons. Extrasensory Perception: Zenitsu's hearing allows him to hear and pick up sounds outside the normal range of perception, such as detecting a person's thoughts, emotions, and even their personality, just by picking up the subtle sounds they produce. Moreover, he can discern a human from a demon by comparing the sounds they make, which also allows him to determine their strength to an extent, as Daki, an Upper Rank demon, has a more terrible sound than normal demons. Fighting Style Master Swordsman: Zenitsu is an incredibly talented swordsman, displaying highly refined proficiency in extremely fast Iaijutsu-like swordsmanship and the Thunderclap and Flash technique, to the point he can create offshoots of the technique and utilize it even while he is asleep. His swordsmanship skill allowed him to fend off dozens of spiders and defend three train carts that Enmu was constantly attacking. Zenitsu's sword-wielding skill evolved to the point that he could fight against Upper Rank demons of the Twelve Kizuki and later match a severely weakened Muzan, implying that his swordsmanship skill has most likely improved to the point that it matches that of the Hashira, the highest-ranked and most powerful swordsmen in the Demon Slayer Corps. Breathing Style Thunder Breathing (雷かみなりの呼こ吸きゅう, Kaminari no kokyū?): A Breathing Style Zenitsu learned from a cultivator and his teacher, Jigoro Kuwajima, but failed to master all the forms in the swordsmanship style and could only be able to use the first of the six forms in it, known as Thunderclap and Flash. However, Zenitsu has become incredibly proficient in fighting and winning using the first form alone, even creating several variations and modifications to it and being able to successfully perform the technique even while unconscious. Later, Zenitsu even created an entire new form in Thunder Breathing, something only a Hashira, specifically Giyu and Muichiro, had done before. This form allowed him to turn the tables against his opponent, Kaigaku, and overpower and decapitate him instantly. Techniques First Form: Thunderclap and Flash (壱いちノ型かた　霹へき靂れき一いっ閃せん, Ichi no kata: Hekireki Issen?)[6] - The user unsheathes their katana, dashes forward at blinding speeds, and decapitates their opponent faster than they can react before sheathing it back. This technique is extremely reminiscent of Iaijutsu and its movements are described as akin to "lightning ripping through the air".[14] Sixfold (六ろく連れん, Rokuren?)[15] - An extension of the Thunderclap and Flash technique created by Zenitsu. The user performs Thunderclap and Flash six times in quick succession while slightly augmenting the power and speed of his dashes. Eightfold (八はち連れん, Hachiren?)[16] - An extension of the Thunderclap and Flash technique created by Zenitsu. The user performs Thunderclap and Flash eight times in quick succession while slightly augmenting the power and speed of his dashes. Godspeed (神しん速そく, Shinsoku?)[17] - An extension of the Thunderclap and Flash technique created by Zenitsu. The user performs Thunderclap and Flash while greatly augmenting the speed of the technique. During the first display of this technique, an unconscious Zenitsu remarked that he mustn't perform this technique more than two times, otherwise his legs would be rendered useless due to muscle fatigue and exhaustion. However, during the battle against Muzan Kibutsuji, Zenitsu has shown improvement in the proficiency of this technique, allowing him to use it more than twice while still maintaining the power and speed of the technique. Seventh Form: Honoikazuchi no Kami (漆しちノ型かた　火ほの雷いかづちの神かみ, Shichi no kata: Honoikazuchi no Kami?, lit. Seventh Form: Flaming Thunder God)[18] - The personal creation of Zenitsu Agatsuma. The user dashes forward at blinding speeds and unleashes a singular forward slash at a low stance, which is seemingly accompanied by a yellow Japanese dragon shaped like a lightning bolt. Game Exclusive Techniques First Form: Thunderclap and Flash, Prime (壱いちノ型かた　霹へき靂れき一いっ閃せん・極きわみ, Ichi no kata: Hekireki Issen - Kiwami?)[19] - A variation of the Thunderclap and Flash created by Zenitsu. The user performs Thunderclap and Flash with such strength that they crack and uproot the ground beneath them, and tear up the ground afterwards, trying to arrest their momentum. This move can be performed mid-air, which launches the user at an angle towards the ground as they strike. Air Spin (空くう転てん, Kūten?)[19] - The user delivers a circular spinning slash to send an opponent upwards. Typically, the technique is used to rebound after executing Thunderclap and Flash. Encompassing Slash (四し方ほう斬きり, Shihōkiri?)[19] - The user unleashes a 360° horizontal slash that creates a ring of blue electricity around them. Lightning Burst (連れん続ぞく斬きり払はらい, Renzokukiri Harai?)[19] - The user unsheathes their blade and performs three arching horizontal slashes at blinding speeds in quick succession. This technique is extremely reminiscent of Iaijutsu.
