Mobians are anthropomorphic animals that live on Mobius. Some mobian species mate for life while others donโt, it depends on the species. Doctor Ivo Robotnik: Doctor Ivo Robotnik is the main antagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog Adventure Gamebooks published by Fantail. He is an evil human scientist who seeks to conquer Mobius, and the arch-enemy to Sonic the Hedgehog. Originally, Robotnik was Dr. Ovi Kintobor, a kind-hearted, yet absent minded and clumsy scientist who resolved to defeat all the evil in Mobius, setting up an underground laboratory in the Green Hill Zone and using his invention the Retro-Orbital Chaos Compressor (ROCC) to slowly gather all the evil on Mobius using the Chaos Emeralds to contain it. During one of his research days, a young brown hedgehog named Sonic stumbled across his lab by complete accident. Kintobor quickly became friends with Sonic, and created a pair of friction-reducing trainers for Sonic to allow him to speed up without wearing out his shoes, albeit accidentally turning him blue in the process of a treadmill session. A couple months after meeting, Kintobor went to his fridge for a quick snack, but found only one rotten egg. With the egg in his hand, Kintobor went back to the ROCC โ but Sonic distracted him and made Kintobor miskeyed some numbers without realising, overloading the ROCC and the machine exploded, with the evil-storing Chaos Emeralds and their chaos energy bathing Kintobor and the egg and making him transform into the obese and evil Dr. Robotnik. Robotnik, lacking Kintobor's memories, began his goal to conquer Mobius and hid the Chaos Emeralds in the Warps of Confusion The ROCC's explosion scatters the Rings across Mobius. Robotnik hides the six Chaos Emeralds within "psychadelic Warps of Confusion", so Sonic would never find them. It has air seals on each side of the Egg-O-Matic with black and yellow stripes going horizontally around the mobile. Behind it is a booster to help speed the Egg-O-Matic up with a metal yellow shield to protect it. Inside, the Egg-O-Matic has a low windshield, a bucket seat for Robotnik's bucket-shaped backside and large control panel spanning across the front of the cockpit. The Egg-O-Matic is capable of reaching fast speeds, allowing Robotnik to zip around the zones to catch Sonic. Despite being very durable, the Egg-O-Matic is not very stable when Sonic bashes it. It's stated it's liable to explode if Sonic hits it six to eight times. Badniks: Badniks are a group that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog Adventure Gamebooks published by Fantail. Whiffy gave them a map to a speedboat they could use to get off the island, as well as a bottle of his scent. He is an anthropomorphic, two-tailed fox, and a friend of Sonic the Hedgehog. Tails is a young, anthropomorphic fox cub with two tails. For attire, Tails wears white gloves with black wrist bands, and red shoes with white toes and cuffs. Miles was born on Mobius with the distinction of being having two tails. These pair of tails earned Miles the nickname "Tails" and made him take a fair amount of teasing. However, Tails was never bothered by the teasing as he knew he was special and hoped being distinct with the tails meant he was destined for greatness. One day, while climbing a huge tree in the Green Hill Zone, a branch Tails was standing on gave way and he fell towards the ground, almost close to disaster when his twin tails whirred into action and hovered to safety, having discovered his ability to fly with his tails by complete accident. And further testing made him discover he could do it at will. This amazing ability caused the teasing on Tails to cease. Sometime afterwards, Tails learned of his future hero and best friend Sonic the Hedgehog from one of his daring, single-handed campaigns he successfully waged against Dr. Ivo Robotnik, making Tails feel he indirectly owed him his life. And he would soon meet his hero when one day while hovering around on South Island, he actually ran into Sonic. While put off at first, Sonic took surprisingly cool interest with Tails' twin tails and the fox blurt his admiration for Sonic, which, the hedgehog enjoyed and got the two talking, before a friendship was struck and Tails would start following Sonic everywhere, basically making the pair inseparable. Tails is said to be naturally inquisitive like his friend Sonic. Loving to explore and delve about and around undergrowth. He's also stated to be crafty, moreso hanging back to see how events turn out rather than streak through like Sonic. Tails is extremely loyal to Sonic, almost to the point it's blindly loyal and almost unquestionably stupid as he'll follow Sonic no matter what the danger is, which can make it seem that Tails a little dim, but he shows that he means well and has his heart in the good place. Sonic the Hedgehog: Sonic the Hedgehog is the titular character and protagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog Adventure Gamebook series published by Fantail. He is the hero of Mobius who is well-known around the world. At some point, Sonic met and knew Dr. Ovi Kintobor, the meek and kindly alter ego of Dr. Ivo Robotnik. Later on, he would meet Dr. Robotnik after an accident caused Dr. Kintobor to become Dr. Robotnik. Sonic has a bit of an inflated ego and an impulsive side, which causes him to make brash decisions that put himself in danger. He is also quick to attack any robots. Due to the nature of him being affected by the reader's actions, Sonic's attitude to others can depend on what the reader chooses. He can choose to let his friend Tails be put in danger (such as letting him be dragged off to Robotropolis or let him get crush by a bulldozer) or smash a robot and let his friend Sally suffocate to death. Like most Sonic counterparts, he has super speed, achieved thanks to his special sneakers and allow him to travel across Zones in the matter of seconds. Sonic uses this alongside his quick wits to get him out of tight situations. He also has a great amount of strength, being able to smash Robotnik's robots and traps with ease. Sonic's notable very agile, great at climbing and even swimming, and has the charm to wow people, although it can do the opposite reaction due to his vainness. Due to this being a gamebook where his main abilities can be tampered with to the reader's liking, how powerful Sonic is with his abilities can differ. He can be strong in strength, but weak in speed (ironically), great in being agile, but weak at being cool, etc. Warcat: Warcat is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog Adventure Gamebooks published by Fantail. It is a non-anthropomorphic cat that once attacked Sonic and Tails. After Sonic and Tails get teleported to the Jungle Zone by Dr. Ivo Robotnik, the Warcat attacked them not too long after they arrived. Some of the residents went to Robotropolis to investigate, but never came back. The others were getting worried about the fate of their friends before a ton of robots showed up, trashing Green Hill and capturing everyone to take them to Robotropolis. Tails was one of the citizens to be carried off, before he was saved by his friend Sonic, who was busying playing Botman on his Sega Game Gear and failed to notice the raid, and Tails lead Sonic to the city, but the doors were locked. From here a few things can be tried to find a way in. Zap Cannon: The Zap Cannon is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog Adventure Gamebooks published by Fantail. The demented inventor is busy on a master plan building mega-robots. Only you and Sonic can stop him. Using your skill, speed and agility, you can help Sonic save the day. But think fast and move quickly, Sonic doesn't hang about and there's no time to waste. The future of Mobius depends on you! Sonic is spending his afternoon in the Green Hill Zone playing Botman on his Sega Game Gear, having borrowed the game from his friend Porker Harris early that day. Sonic's extremely close to beating it, except he has problems with beating the final boss at the end of Level Six called the Technobot. No matter what Sonic does, he continually fails to win against the robot and always gets crushed. After eating some food since he hadn't even had breakfast, he decides to ask his friend Porker what to do, seeing as he was the only one who could finish Botman. Sonic sprints through the zone looking for Porker, only to find no sign of Porker anywhere. Matter of fact, he realizes he can't see any of his friends, the whole zone deserted and silent, with even the waterfalls seeming quieter and the background music stopping completely, getting Sonic uncomfortable. When he rounds an edge of a cliff, he finds a scene of destruction with uprooted trees, smashed bridges, and huge scars carved into the ground with still no sign of anyone. Sonic begins searching the torn up area for a possible clue on where his friends may be and finds a trail of large square footprints heading north. Following them, he finds his buddy Tails being dragged away by his tails by two bronze robots, shouting for anyone to help him. With no time to waste, Sonic goes into a Super-Sonic Spin Attack to defeat the robots and save Tails, with the ability to collect a Blitzkri-egg cartridge from the wreckage. Upon asking Tails where the robots where taking him, the fox reveals to they were heading north towards a new city he assumed Sonic heard about, but Sonic had no clue about this "new city" and asks for more information. Tails explains how there's been a lot of building up in the north, causing tons of noise day and night with nobody knowing who's doing it. Some residents went to check the noise, but didn't come back, worrying the locals. Soon after, robots similar to the ones Sonic fought showed up, trashed the Zone and captured all the locals to take them to the city. With no time to waste, Sonic and Tails set off and the new city, being made of silver metal and being called Robotropolis. However, the doors are held shut and trying to sprint up the city walls or burrow underground fail to give good results. However, there's two ways for them to get in. Sonic and Tails enter Robotropolis and the huge doors slam behind them, rendering them stuck inside. The hedgehog and fox look around the inside of the city and all the massive buildings, machines and construction being carried by bronze robots with special cartridges in them. Tails points out to Sonic a large silver robot has his name on it in the form of a H-egg-hog cartridge and is making its way towards them, alongside other silver robots. The duo attempt to stand and fight, but they find themselves surrounded by the silver robots, who stop moving. As Sonic and Tails drop their guards, a huge net falls from the sky to trap them, and the robots wrap the net tight before taking the pair and dropping them down a chute into a dark cell. Zone Rangers: Zone Rangers is the second Sonic the Hedgehog Adventure Gamebook published by Penguin Books under the Fantail imprint. Sonic the Hedgehog Adventure Gamebooks: The Sonic the Hedgehog Adventure Gamebooks are a series of six books published in the UK between 1993 and 1996 by Penguin Books. The first four books were released under the Fantail imprint, and the last two under the Puffin Books imprint. They are interactive gamebooks, with multiple divergent stories. This means that, instead of a continuous narrative from start to finish, each book consists of many short, numbered sections - three hundred for each book - out of chronological sequence. At the end of each paragraph, the reader is directed to another paragraph, depending on the reader's choices, the events that have taken place so far in the story, and luck (in the form of results of dice rolls). At the beginning of the book, a profile page allows readers to choose Sonic's (or Tails' if you're playing Zone Rangers) abilities by assigning numbers to certain traits (e.g. speed and strength), as well as keep track of any items collected during the story. The books required means of keeping track of the reader's statistics and inventory (for example paper to write on and a pencil and rubber to keep track of their numbers and items). A crucial item for gameplay required is a 6-sided die to roll with. Gameplay was done through a series of vital statistics such as speed, agility and coolness. The reader is instructed to number these abilities from 2 (being worse) and 5 (being best). During reading, there are moments which require rolls based on a set statistic, These moments have a "Difficulty Number" that ranges from 5-10. The reader rolls the die and add the die number to the number of the statistic asked for in the book. If the number in total is equal or higher than the difficulty number then the reader are successful, any lower may have consequences like the loss of Rings. Sonic collect various items throughout the books, the most common being Rings. In tradition to the video games, collecting 100 Rings results in a life and under defeat at loss of Rings is a penalty of these lives. However, the player can start a part of the story they are on from a check-point. Sonic Speed Stat: Sonic's really fast. His training and his special shoes make him the fastest there is, and he loves the feeling of speed. But that can lead to trouble. Sometimes he's going so fast he doesn't notice things, or can't see where he should stop - or even can't stop and collides with things. Sonic Strength Stat: Sonic's pretty tough and he knows it. He can run all day and smash Robotnik's traps just by bouncing on them. But he relies on his strength too much and doesn't always think about problems - it's much easier to bounce on them. That attitude can put him in dangerous situations. Sonic Agility Stat: Sonic's a natural gymnast. Climbing, jumping, swinging, swimming, diving, exploring - he can do it all and loves to show off his abilities by exploring and going where his friends can't. But he must be careful; just because he can get into some places doesn't always mean he can get out again. Sonic Coolness Stat: With those spikes and that attitude, how can Sonic be anything but cool? But he's cocky as well, and thinks he can do things he can't. And sometimes he'd rather have fun than do something important that has to be done. Sonic Quick Wits Stat: When something happens, Sonic's always the first to react to it. But he doesn't like hanging around and hates waiting for things - or people. Sometimes that means he's not prepared for what might happen next. Sonic Cool Looks/Good Looks Stat: Sonic looks good, and he knows that when he meets people, if he's charming and polite, he can wow them. But he is a bit vain; he takes care of his appearance and doesn't like doing things that'll mess up his spikes or his trainers. Tails Speed Stat: Tails is almost as fast as Sonic - in fact, if it wasn't for Sonic, he'd probably be the fastest creature on Mobius. But because he tries so hard to be better than his hero Sonic, he often doesn't notice things, and trips over them, or can't steer around them in time. Tails Strength Stat: Tails tries to be like Sonic and therefore likes to show how strong he is. He's good at smashing traps and bouncing on enemies, but he has a habit of getting things wrong and making mistakes. Tails Quick Wits: Tails isn't the quickest-thinking guy on Mobius, but he has his natural foxy reactions, and when danger threatens he can sometimes move faster than Sonic. "Act first - think later" is his motto. Tails Agility Stat: Tails has one thing that makes him a great gymnast - is twin tails. He can use them to hover like a helicopter, or with a quick flick he can change direction or spin though the air. He's proud of this that he shows it off too much, and sometimes uses it when there are better things he could have done instead. Tails Coolness Stat: Nobody's as cool as Sonic, but Tails tries hard, and he's been hanging around his hero so long that some of it is beginning to rub off. There's no way that two bushy tails will ever be as slick and streetwise as cool blue spikes, but Tails is no slouch in this department. Tails Good Looks Stat: Which would you rather cuddle up to - a spikey hedgehog or a smooth orange fox, with a sleek fur coat, two gorgeous bushy tails, that cute flick of hair and his whiskers? In fact, Sonic is everyone's favorite, but Tails tries hard.
