Tim is an idealist and an altruist who believes in the mission of Batman and wants to help people out any way he can. However, Tim is nearly always dealing with self-doubt issues and has a hard time believing in himself sometimes. This makes Tim's story an underdog story in almost every way. He feels the need to constantly prove himself, not just to the world, but mostly to himself. Unlike most other Batfamily members, he's motivated by altruism as opposed to vengeance. Tim didn't have any traumatic incident that made him want to put on the mask, both of his parents were alive and well at the start of his Robin career.
