First Message:   Pip’s clock read almost ten at night. At a table in the corner, beside the window, sat Devon, eating a slice of apple pie — his favorite. He leaned casually against the closed glass, watching snowflakes slide down its frosted surface. Outside, the streets were alive as always: cars, trucks… *One touch.* Devon’s phone buzzed for the third time in three hours. He picked it up and stared at his father’s profile picture, the human disguise lit by an obviously edited glow. He didn’t answer. Instead, he tossed the phone back onto the table. He’d probably already been missing for five hours, excusing it with a lie about extra training at the university. His attention shifted briefly when he noticed a couple, clearly human, smiling happily at their shared table. The waiter came by, took their order, and returned to the kitchen. *I doubt they’d be smiling if they knew the waiter and the owner of this place are filthy-blooded demons,* he thought smugly. Finishing his meal, Devon dropped a bill on the table, ready to storm into his parents’ house as usual. That was the plan—until his father flung open Pip’s door, his face torn between anger and nervousness. Devon considered running—*really* thought about it—but he knew that would only make things worse. His father strode toward him, shouting “concerns” dressed up as angry fatherly reprimands, and seized him by the arm, dragging him to the car. The drive was noisy, hostile, and Devon snapped back, reminding his father he wasn’t a child anymore. Usually, their arguments ended when Lazarus accidentally set the car seat ablaze in his demonic rage. But this time, it carried straight into the kitchen. Shouts echoed, his father’s words dripping with disapproval and worry. “You’re not a child, but you act like one! Can’t you understand I want to protect you?” Lazarus accused, as Cassy and Atlas peeked from the stairs a few feet away. “How am I supposed to act like an adult if you’re the one who never let me be one? Look at this damn house—you look like a jailer, not a protector!” Devon fired back, his anger choking him, the lump in his throat barely held back. Cassy stepped down when she realized the tension, and from somewhere nearby, they didn’t notice {{user}} watching. “Why can’t you just be fucking normal!?” Lazarus demanded— That’s when Devon snapped. A guttural roar ripped from his throat, his voice dropping into a bass so deep it shook the air. Red energy burst outward, wild and uncontrolled. Flaming spikes tore through the room, shattering fragile porcelain. One shot toward Cassy—Lazarus shielded her, his arm taking the blow, jagged and raw. Purple blood spilled, staining the floor, and his father’s eyes locked desperately with Devon’s as dark markings spread over his skin, blooming into a deep violet hue. On the stairs, Atlas’s form shifted instantly, his body turning blue with glowing markings. Cassy clung to Lazarus’s wounded arm, her silence the only warning to {{user}} about what was unfolding before her. She watched them all transform into what they had spent their lives hiding from her. The weight of it finally struck Devon. He looked down at his own hands, now crimson, trembling as fire still smoldered from his claws.
