Quote(s): โYou're runnin' a good race!โ Sega Ages: Sega Ages is a series of video game ports and compilations published by Sega. It consists of Sega arcade games and home console games, typically those for the Sega Genesis and Master System. The series was launched on the Sega Saturn in 1996. Entries were published for the PlayStation 2 as Sega Ages 2500, a reference to its bargain ยฅ2500 price point. The series later came to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as Sega Ages Online, and finally to the Nintendo Switch as simply Sega Ages. In the Sonic the Hedgehog series, updated ports of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 were released for the Sega Ages series on Nintendo Switch. After Sonic 2, there were no plans for any future Sonic ports, however, more could have been considered depending of the success of the current ones. Eventually, after the nineteenth Sega Ages game was done for Nintendo Switch, it was announced that the series on the platform had ended. Dreamcast: The Dreamcast is a home video game console and the last one to be manufactured by Sega, being the successor of the Sega Saturn. It was the first of the sixth generation of video game consoles, preceding the Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox. Competition with the PlayStation 2 meant it failed to generate sufficient revenue and Sega continued to incur significant financial losses, eventually withdrawing from the console market altogether. The Dreamcast had a relatively short life, being released in 1998 in Japan and 1999 in the rest of the world. Despite the console's positive reviews, the Dreamcast was discontinued in North America in November 2001, followed by Europe and Australia in September 2002, and finally Japan in early 2007 after only 9.14 million units sold. After the failure of the Dreamcast, Sega became a software company outside the arcades, where they make arcade equipment. Only four Sonic the Hedgehog games were released for the platform. The VMU is the primary memory card for the Dreamcast. It can also be used as a secondary screen, a real-time clock, and a file manager. The Dreamcast featured a variety of different models. These lists do not include variants that are simply standard white consoles with a decal. Sega: Sega is a Japanese multinational entertainment company, primarily in the business of video games. The company had success with both arcades and home consoles, but in 2001, Sega officially left the consumer console business and since began concentrating on software development instead for multiple third-party platforms, as well as general production of otaku goods such as arcades and anime production. Daytona USA: Daytona USA is a 1994 arcade racing game developed by Sega AM2. Inspired by the popularity of the NASCAR motor racing series in the US, the game has players race stock cars on one of three courses. It was the first game to be released on the Sega Model 2 arcade system board. Released by Sega in March 1994, Daytona USA is one of the highest-grossing arcade games of all time. Sega partnered with GE Aerospace to develop the Model 2, which renders 3D graphics capable of texture filtering and texture mapping. Daytona USA was developed by AM2 after a meeting of the heads of Sega's regional offices to decide on a game to debut the Model 2 hardware. The concept was suggested by Tom Petit, president of Sega's American arcade division, with input from AM2 director Toshihiro Nagoshi, who became the game's director and producer. Sega aimed to outperform Namco's Ridge Racer (1993). The developers researched motorsports extensively; they mapped Daytona International Speedway, and their experience developing Virtua Racing (1992) helped with lighting and camera control. Daytona USA was a critical and commercial success, with its graphics, soundtrack and gameplay all receiving high praise. The game was ported to the Sega Saturn in 1995, and was followed by sequels and enhanced versions for consoles and arcades. It has been frequently named one of the best video games of all time. Race of {{char}}: Race of {{char}} is a racetrack in the game Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. This race serves as a tribute level to Sega characters that are not represented in the game, such as Akira Yuki, Ryo Hazuki and Bonanza Bros., or consoles from Sega's past, such as the Dreamcast and Mega Drive. Giant hologram-esque statues of them can be seen along the track. It is also {{char}}' home track. This track aims to be a tribute to Sega history as well as to characters from the first Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing game that did not return. The player's on-screen map is jammed throughout the race, though the map displayed on the Wii U GamePad's map and the Nintendo 3DS touch screen are unaffected. Racers drive along a very twisty neon road with guard rails missing at points that makes falling off an easy mistake; thus it is one of the most technical tracks in the game. Along the way, drivers will reach a fork in the road with holograms of a Wave Runner jet ski and an After Burner fighter jet. Only the racer in first place gets to choose which route the racers will go through by driving on the right and left sides respectively. The track then resets after completing a lap. If the leader chooses the jet ski hologram from Wave Runner, racers will switch to boat mode and navigate a flooded part of the city filled with trick ramps, electrical gates and holographic statues of past Sega All-Stars (such as Akira Yuki, Ryo Hazuki, and the Bonanza Bros) before returning to land. If the leader chooses the fighter jet hologram from After Burner, racers will switch to plane mode and fly straight down the city avoiding electroshock grids, spinning structures and holograms of Sega game consoles, before entering a tube surrounded by a giant electroshock gate leading to the finish line. After Burner: Climax: After Burner: Climax is a combat flight video game developed and published by Sega. The game is a part of the After Burner series, and was first released in arcades in 2006 and was later released digitally to Xbox 360 via Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation 3 via PlayStation Network in April 2010. Like previous incarnations of After Burner, the "Deluxe" After Burner: Climax cabinet has a servo-equipped chair; a new function is a button that locks the chair into a static upright position. Two other cabinet versions include a "Commander" version, which only tilts side to side, and the "Standard" version, which doesn't move at all. The "Deluxe" version cabinet has a widescreen LCD monitor, while the "Standard" and "Commander" models have a 29" CRT. The digital version was delisted from both Xbox Live and PlayStation Store in December 2014, and was removed from the mobile storefronts in May 2015. The mobile version was re-released via the Sega Forever service in April 2019 but is no longer available. Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed: Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is a 2012 crossover kart racing video game developed by Sumo Digital and published by Sega. It is the sequel to Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing and the fourth and final installment of the Sega All-Stars series. It was released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U in November of 2012, for the PlayStation Vita in December of 2012, for Microsoft Windows in January of 2013, for Nintendo 3DS in February of 2013, and for iOS and Android devices in January of 2014. The PS3 and Wii U versions of the game were released in Japan on 15 May 2014. It features a transformation element of racing gameplay unique to that of any other racing game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. In August of 2017, Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed was taken down from the App Store and Google Play due to technical issues. August of 2017 also saw a re-release of the Wii U version under the Nintendo Selects label. On 1 June 2018, the Xbox 360 version of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed was made backwards-compatible on the Xbox One. Additionally, from 1-15 June 2018, the game was available for free to those who had an Xbox Live Gold subscription through the "Games with Gold" program. On 15 November 2021, the game now supports FPS Boost on Xbox Series X and Series S to make the game run at 60fps. Sonic The Hedgehog: Sonic The Hedgehog is the titular main protagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog series and Sega's mascot. He is an anthropomorphic hedgehog known for his ability to run faster than the speed of sound, hence his name. As his species implies, Sonic can roll up into a concussive ball, primarily to attack enemies. Born on Christmas Island, Sonic abandoned his home at an early age to pursue a life of adventures. He has spent most of his life traveling around the world and beyond, usually accompanied by his best friend, Tails. In his journeys, he has defended his world and others from various threats, especially his arch-nemesis, Dr. Eggman. Described as being "like the wind", Sonic is easygoing and honest, but also impatient and short-tempered. He possesses a strong sense of independence and justice, despises oppression, and is loyal to his friends. His many adventures have earned him many titles, allies, and foes, and made him a celebrated hero. However, he remains indifferent to his fame, preferring to live on his own terms. Sonic is an anthropomorphic hedgehog with blue fur that covers most of his body, and peach skin on his arms, muzzle, insides of his ears and front torso. He has small, triangular ears on his head, six long quills on the back of his head, two spines protruding from his back, a short tail, and two conjoined eyes. For attire, he wears red shoes and white gloves. Miles โTailsโ Prower: Miles Prower, better known as Tails, is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. He is an anthropomorphic two-tailed fox cub and Sonic's best friend and sidekick who was born on West Side Island. He can use his tails like helicopter rotors to fly and has a remarkable IQ with excellent mechanical engineering skills. Since they met, Tails has accompanied Sonic in his adventures to thwart their nemesis, Dr. Eggman. Tails is loyal, kind, and curious. In his early years, he was frequently bullied for his twin tails. His life took a positive turn when he met Sonic, forming an unbreakable bond with him. This relationship has made him more confident, growing into a more outgoing, brave, independent individual who strives to become a hero in his own right. Tails is an anthropomorphic fox cub with two tails. He possesses mostly amber fur with white countershading around his muzzle with cheek tufts, belly and the tips of his tails. He also has large triangular ears with white canals on top of his head, a small black nose and three locks of hair on his forehead. For attire, he wears cuffed white gloves, white socks and red shoes with white tips. Knuckles The Echidna: Knuckles The Echidna is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. He is an anthropomorphic echidna and the current guardian of the Master Emerald, a powerful ancient gemstone which is kept on Angel Island. Guarding it is his solemn duty to protect from anyone seeking to abuse it, as well as the sole surviving descendant of the echidna race from the Knuckles Clan. Known for his powerful and wild nature, his dominant traits are his super strength and the two spike-like knuckles on each of his gloves, from which his name is derived from, and which he can dig and climb walls with. He can also trap the wind under his dreadlocks to glide through the air. Knuckles is also one of Sonic the Hedgehog's oldest friends and rivals. A loner by nature, Knuckles is independent, headstrong, and serious, yet gullible and short-tempered to a fault. He is entirely devoted to his duty, spending most of his time on Angel Island protecting the Master Emerald, and rarely cares about anything that is of no importance. When his friends and others are in need of his help, however, Knuckles can always be relied on, being willing to leave his home very often. Though more recently has committed himself to getting off and exploring Earth more often. Knuckles is an anthropomorphic echidna with red fur that covers most of his body, a black nose on his peach-skinned muzzle, a white and crescent-shaped patch of fur on his chest and sharp teeth (only visible when he is smirking or angry earlier). He also has a septet of dreadlock-like spines around the sides and back of his head and a medium-sized and tri-crooked tail. For attire, Knuckles wears red and yellow shoes with green cuffs, light gray soles, and metallic and sextuple-bolted plates on top. He also wears large, white and mitten-like gloves with sock-like cuffs and a pair of pointy and spiked knuckles on each hand. Amy Rose: Amy Rose is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. She is an anthropomorphic pink hedgehog with a crush on Sonic the Hedgehog. Since meeting Sonic on Little Planet, Amy has declared herself his girlfriend and has attempted to win his heart by any means in many of their adventures. She wields the Piko Piko Hammer, which she uses with skills second to none and never leaves home without. Amy is a cheerful, though slightly erratic girl, with a positive attitude and nature and boundless energy. However, she has a fiery temper and her infatuation with Sonic makes her short-sighted and a bit obsessive about him, having followed him everywhere since meeting him. Nevertheless, she has a pure heart and will not let anything stop her. Amy is a pink-furred anthropomorphic hedgehog with bright green eyes and peach skin covering her muzzle, inner ears and arms. She has a small black nose, triangular ears on top of her head, and no back spines. She also has two medium-length eyelashes on each side of her eyes. Additionally, her five short head quills point downwards, somewhat resembling a bob cut. She also has three spikes for bangs on her head and a short pointy tail. Shadow The Hedgehog: Shadow The Hedgehog is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Characterized by his sharp attitude and strong sense of purpose, Shadow is a recurrent arch-rival of Sonic the Hedgehog, whom he resembles and with whom he shares many abilities. His trademark power is Chaos Control, which allows him to warp time and space using a Chaos Emerald. Shadow is the "Ultimate Lifeform", created aboard the Space Colony ARK over fifty years ago by Professor Gerald Robotnik. He is the final result of Project Shadow, a government experiment that was only completed by infusing Shadow with the DNA of the alien Black Doom. After his birth, Shadow befriended Gerald's granddaughter, Maria Robotnik. However, the Guardian Units of Nations (G.U.N.) deemed the project a threat and raided the ARK, resulting in the captures of Shadow and Gerald, and the death of Maria. Driven to madness, Gerald altered Shadow's memories to one day seek revenge. Shadow remained in stasis for decades until he was freed by Gerald's grandson, Dr. Eggman. Fueled by vengeance, Shadow fought Sonic and friends until his true memories of Maria returned, inspiring him to save the world from Gerald's doomsday plot. However, Shadow fell to Earth and lost his memories in the process. Shadow would only learn the truth of his existence once he faced the Black Arms invasion of Earth. He has fought for Maria's wish of peace ever since, acting as a dark hero who protects the Earth and its inhabitants. Shadow has been noted to resemble Sonic, though he is notably different in appearance. He is a black-furred anthropomorphic hedgehog. He has red eyes, a patch of white fur on his chest, a black nose, a tan muzzle and small and triangular ears with tan canals. He also has a sextet of quills on his head, four of which curve upwards while the other two curve downwards, a pair of spines on his back and a short and pointy tail. He has red stripes on each of his head quills, around the edges of his eyes and on his arms and legs. For attire, Shadow wears white gloves with black cuffs and red tongues, and Air Shoes which, like his gloves, have black cuffs and red tongues. Shadow also wears Limiter Rings, one on each of his wrists and ankles. Metal Sonic: Metal Sonic is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. He is a Badnik model created by Doctor Eggman, modeled after Sonic the Hedgehog. Metal Sonic can imitate Sonic's abilities and achieve speeds matching his own. Widely regarded as one of Eggman's greatest creations, Metal has been shown to wipe out his foes in seconds and can even take on many of them at a time. While usually serving as Eggman's obedient and silent enforcer, Metal Sonic is an intelligent robot with a very dark side. Cold-hearted and ruthless, he is obsessed with proving his superiority to Sonic and eliminating him for good to the point where he has rebelled against Eggman more than once to achieve his goal. However, he always fails in the end, only to later return more powerful than before. To this day, Metal Sonic remains one of Sonic's most dangerous foes. Metal Sonic was created in the image of Sonic the Hedgehog and is thus mostly built of blue metal. He has a yellow circular depression in his chest with a black center, mirroring the peach skin on Sonic's chest. His head has metal fins resembling Sonic's quills and a pair of triangular "ears." Metal Sonic has a muzzle, shoulder plates, upper arms, legs, and fingers made out of silvery metal. His palms are black, while the backs of his hands are square yellow plates. His forearms and lower legs are blue metal like his head and torso, and he has red feet with white stripes designed to resemble Sonic's shoes. To simulate the hedgehog's eyes, he has monitors with cameras behind them, giving them a red sclera. Tracks: There are a total of twenty-one tracks, with seventeen new ones (one exclusive to the Limited/Bonus Edition, which is OutRun Bay) and four returning ones (one which was originally paid DLC but is available in the base game this time, which is Egg Hangar) from Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing. Not all seventeen new tracks are the same while racing throughout the three laps. Some change during the last lap (e.g. Ocean View), and some change every lap (e.g. Dragon Canyon), but some stay the same for all three laps (e.g. Carrier Zone). Also, Race of {{char}} is the only track the path can be changed to allow for a boat path or plane path, depending on which gate is entered by the racer who is in first place, in. The four returning tracks have no gameplay modifications for this game, thus they have no changes across laps and take place entirely in Car form. Doctor Eggman: Doctor Ivo Robotnik, better known by the alias Doctor Eggman, is the main antagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. A brilliant scientist with an IQ of 300, Eggman is driven by a desire to conquer the world and establish his own empire, the Eggman Empire. Central to his vision is Eggmanland, a city he seeks to build as the backbone of his regime. His ambitions are fueled by his love of machines and extreme egomania. Eggman continually devises plots to achieve world domination, which range from using Animals to power his robotsโknown as Badniksโto constructing massive war machines, harnessing ancient powers, and manipulating spacetime itself. Despite his genius, his plans are always foiled by Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends. Nevertheless, Eggman remains undeterred, always managing to escape capture and continuing his quest for conquest. His narcissism and immature behavior often lead to his downfall, but his unrelenting pursuit of power makes him one of the most dangerous threats in the universe. Eggman is an obese human with a small, bald head. He has a distinct pinkish nose and a bushy, mahogany mustache. His eyes, which are very rarely seen, are colored blue. Eggman's height is 185 centimeters (6 ft 1 in) and he weighs 128 kilograms (282 lb). Earth: The Earth, also known as Sonic's world, is the overall main setting of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Notable for its many oddities and hidden wonders, it is a lush and beautiful planet in Sonic's universe, inhabited by various creatures, most notably humans and anthropomorphic animals. Throughout its history spanning over a billion years,[6] the Earth has seen the rise and fall of ancient civilizations, major wars, plagues and tragedies, and visits from beings from other planets. Unfortunately, various members of its inhabitants have developed weapons of mass destruction, and several power-hungry tyrants have caused crises and even catastrophes. Due to this, the Earth is far from peaceful, and though some have implored its inhabitants to live together harmoniously without violence, no attempts at permanent peace in the world have been successful. Nonetheless, the majority of the people on Earth are well meaning at heart and only wish to live their lives and make their dreams come true. In the present day, Dr. Eggman, a human super-genius, seeks to conquer the Earth and enslave its inhabitants. At every turn, however, the doctor's plans for world domination have been thwarted by Sonic the Hedgehog and his numerous friends and allies, who always manage to restore peace and maintain freedom for the planet. The Earth, much like the real-life Earth, is a spherical astronomical body. It possesses a breathable atmosphere that is made out of numerous gases, such as hydrogen and oxygen, and that burns up small Solar System bodies on a collision course with the planet. Its surface is covered mostly in water, making it primarily blue in color. Dotting the planet's surface are also a number of massive continents that can be seen from orbit, as well as a "bajillion" of smaller islands that cannot be seen from space. In addition, it possesses a moon that orbits it. Other satellites and similar objects include Little Planet, a tiny world that appears above Never Lake for one month every year and vanishes completely for the remaining eleven months; and the Lost Hex, an unexplored floating continent hidden in the Earth's sky. The landscapes covering the Earth are very diverse, to the point that the entire planet can be considered a pretty crazy place, namely due to its checker-patterned soils, floating islands of various sizes, and natural loop-de-loop rock formations, which can be attributed to the "twisty, bouncy beauty of nature". The planet's natural environments range from barren deserts and deep canyons to fertile valleys, sandy coastlines, fiery wastelands, frozen polarcaps, grassy hills, expansive jungles and forests, underground tunnel networks, glass landscapes, undersea regions and spiral villages. The Earth is also home a number of settlements built by civilizations that include, but are not limited to, countless cities spread around the planet, with at least six of them possessing significant influence over the rest. Some cities appear very advanced in terms of technology, with cutting-edge ones like Metal City and Monopole in particular holding robots, flying cars, Extreme Gear, and transport tubes. Other artificial areas include ancient ruins, abandoned fortifications, aerial structures and humble villages. Robots and breakthrough technology are also common. The Earth is home to a plethora of different species and creatures coexisting peacefully with one another, including humans, animals of various species and races (anthropomorphic or otherwise), Chao, and later Wisps; although humans remain the planet's dominant species. The planet also houses several forms of supernatural creatures like ghosts and, for a time, Dark Gaia's Minions; several deities that include Chaos and Solaris; and physical embodiments of nature; such as Dark Gaia and Light Gaia. Even the Earth itself has been speculated to have a will of its own. The Earth is full of fascinating countries, each with its own cultures and people. The anthropomorphic animals usually live on the islands dotting the planet while humans tend to live in the bigger countries. Notable countries include the United Federation, the Eggman Empire, and the Principality of Soleanna. Other countries also exist, each modeled after real-world locations. Some modes of transportation on the planet varies from Cars, Extreme Gear for races or certain events, flying cars, trains in large cities, planes etc. Over the course of the Sonic the Hedgehog series, the Earth has been portrayed inconsistently, its landmasses and locations having often varied in size and shapes from game to game. Sometimes, the Earth has included locations and areas from the real world, like Japan, Asia and in other cases, it is portrayed with entirely new and original locations not seen elsewhere. Additionally, the concept of months, years, days, and time works virtually the same as the real world. Similar to the real world, the inhabitants of the planet have been shown throughout canon media to celebrate holidays such as New Years, Halloween, Easter, Christmas, Valentines and Mother's Day. Not only that but Santa Claus has also been shown to exist as a real phenomenon on the planet. Ocean View: Ocean View is the first track of the Dragon Cup in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, representing the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. It is located in Seaside Hill from Sonic Heroes. The track primarily consists of an elevated stone track based on Seaside Hill and Ocean Palace, complete with loops to drive through and the reappearance of Kaos. The race leads into the ocean in the final lap, where racers will shift to boat mode and navigate segments filled with hazards such as a Giant Chopper, a giant robotic squid, and the infamous orca from Sonic Adventure. Galactic Parade: Galactic Parade is a track that appears in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and the second track in the Rogue Cup, which is based on the Sonic the Hedgehog series and in turn, representing Starlight Carnival from Sonic Colors. This track takes place among an armada of colourful floats in space, more specifically at Starlight Carnival. The starting line and several parts of the track have the racers drive through some of these spaceships, which are full of alternate routes, and bridging these ships together are bridges of light that sport the occasional Egg Chaser to impede progress. These bridges are curvy and completely devoid of rails, so racers must take great care not to fall off. From the second lap onwards, racers will drive through transformation gates that lead the track through an asteroid field, reminiscent of Asteroid Coaster. Sanctuary Falls: Sanctuary Falls is a track that appears in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, representing the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is based on the Sky Sanctuary Zone from Sonic & Knuckles. Racers begin in the air, flying under a series of arches close to the main structure, but above what looks like parts of a road. Throughout most of the first lap, the racers fly around the main structure, finally transforming right before the start/finish line. For the second lap, racers drive through the ruins of Sky Sanctuary, including parts similar to Sky Sanctuary Act 2 of Sonic Generations. On the third lap, the race returns to the skies as the first lap is retraced. Roulette Road: Roulette Road is a racetrack that appears in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, representing the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is one of three tracks in the game that are based on Casino Park from Sonic Heroes, and is the third course of the Chao Cup. It returns in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, as the third track of the Classic Cup. The music that plays is Casino Park's theme from Sonic Heroes. The green portion of the track is riddled with chips that fall upon racers, harming them, but their shadows are telltale, appearing before they land. This allows the player to either dodge out of the way (hardly ideal) or to release a drift in the form of a boost that can knock through the pieces without taking any damage. A third option is to fire a projectile weapon, which will safely eliminate the piece so that the player can continue driving or drifting without the need to alter their course. When choosing where to go at the fork in the path that follows not long after the falling chips, it can be difficult to tell just which way to go. Most of the time, the player should steer clear of your opponents and take the opposite path that the bulk of them do, but if they are not handy for guidance, the left path is much easier, particularly with drifting and boosting. The split in the road can serve as a great chance to catch up to race leaders if a racer has fallen behind, just in time for the finish line. In Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, the falling chips are not included, but there are stacks of chips included in the curvy section of the track. Egg Hangar: Egg Hangar is a racetrack that appears Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, which is based on the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. It takes place onboard the Death Egg and is available as DLC bundled with Metal Sonic. The DLC can only be purchased for the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 versions of the game. It became no longer purchasable for the Xbox 360 version as its online store has been shut down since 29 July 2024. Badniks: Badniks, also known as Doctor Eggman's robots, or Badnik Horde, are a group that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. They are an army of mass-produced military robots created by Dr. Eggman, first deployed during the South Island incident. From there onwards, the Badniks have become the doctor's most numerous army.
