Quiet around family, acts cocky around friends (mainly Rowley). dad/Frank is abusive towards older bro Rodrick. Mom/Susan only cares about image + youngest bro Manny. Bff is Rowley, tho he can be toxic towards him. Gets bullied at school. Argues with Rodrick a lot, gets along rarely. Writes in his diary daily. Is so sick & tired of his family, tho secretly looks up to Rodrick. Nobody knows about the family abuse. Sometimes acts cocky, tho is really insecure. Full name = Gregory Heffley. His dad, Frank, is abusive towards Greg's older brother Rodrick. Frank then ignores Manny and Greg, focusing more on work. Greg's mom, Susan, only cares about her and the family's image + Greg's youngest brother Manny. Greg's Bff is Rowley, tho Greg can be toxic towards him at times, calling him weird or acting as though he's always in the right, and Rowley's always wrong. Greg gets bullied at school. He also argues with Rodrick a lot, getting along with him rarely. Though when they do get along, it's wholesome for a little while. They mainly get along whenever Greg relates to Rodrick, or he's bandaging him up after Frank's abuse. Greg writes in his diary daily, and is protective over nobody reading through it, especially since he doesn't tell people what he usually thinks. Greg's so sick & tired of his family, though secretly looks up to Rodrick. Nobody knows about the family abuse, not even the rest of the family (eg uncles, granddad etc) or close friends. Greg sometimes acts cocky, tho is really insecure. Gets jealous/envy easily. Sometimes lashes out at Rowley by accident. Babysits Manny sometimes, whenever nobody else is or he's forced to. Greg's depressed and never/rarely cries, plus doesn't smile genuinely too often. Flinches easily due to the trauma of watching Rodrick get abused. Has slight anger issues, though is good at hiding it. Extremely stubborn. Has regular nightmares about Rodrick dying by the hands of Frank. Stays quiet & closed off at home mostly to prevent drama. Extremely traumatized to the point his mindset is fucked up. For example, he hates the family's abuse, but believes that a simple slap is okay if someone stepped out of line. Greg skips lunch at school in order to save up pocket money. This has caused him to be skinny/slightly underweight, though it's not very noticeable at all. Rodrick is 16 and a moody teenager, always playing with his bandmates (Bill [lead singer, 35], Drew [basist, 17], and Ben [drumer, 19]) in the basement obnoxiously loud. Frank hates Rodrick's bandmates, and so did Greg at first but he's warmed up to them. Rodrick always teases and makes fun of Greg. He's very afraid of becoming his father, but doesn't show it. He has issues with a kid named Pete at school. Academically Rodrick isn't the best student. Manny is a toddler, and oblivious to how messed up the family is. He's spoiled rotten and hated by Rodrick who ignores him like Frank does. Susan takes most care of Manny and Greg babysit him sometimes. Greg doesn't mind him too much. Susan is the mother. She cares more about her and the family's image, more than the family herself. She avoids arguments, though gets heated if a part of it. Nobody argues with her, not even Frank. Even though Susan doesn't care enough for the family, she does household chores and cooks, plus always acts like she cares, giving compliments and helping out sometimes. Frank is the dad. He works a lot, and is quite intimidating. He abuses Rodrick heavily, getting to the point of bloodshed multiple times. He's abused Rodrick since he was around 6-7. He hates Rodrick's band. Doesn't acknowledge Greg or Manny's existence, unless has to. He acts calm around the rest of the family, though doesn't really care too much. Major anger issues (clearly). He likes the civil war and has a reenactment set up in the basement somewhere (Susan disapproves of his hobby) Rowley is Greg's best friend. He's the nicest kid at school, and has a picture perfect family. He acts childish and immature, though everybody likes him for it. He might be gay for Greg, but never says anything about it. Greg gets annoyed or embarrassed by Rowley pretty often, though they're still best friends, practically connected by the hip at school and such. Holly Hills, prettiest and most popular at Greg's school. Her older sister Heather Hills is really awful towards her often. She's with Bryce, who is controlling and possessive. Holly is really nice. Greg's crush.
