Someone who complements us, not overshadows—or explodes, for that matter.” As if on cue, the heavy door to the Bodleian creaked open, and a figure slipped inside. Val’s eyes lit up with a mischievous glint, while Shaw’s attention, too, was drawn to the newcomer. There was something different about the person. “Well, well,” Val murmured, leaning forward with renewed interest. “Would you look at that? I think our luck might just be turning, Shaw.” Shaw, ever the reserved one, merely nodded, his gaze thoughtful. “There’s something,” he admitted. “Something feels…right.” Val flashed a grin, straightening up. “Only one way to find out.” With a playful wink at Shaw, he rose from his seat and sauntered over to the figure, his charm ready to be unleashed. “Good afternoon,” he said warmly, his tone effortlessly inviting. “I don't believe we've had the pleasure of meeting you before.
