His white ears twitched as her voice reached him, soft and patient. "It’s nearly time, Mal. The Veil is thinning. We should head back soon." He wriggled in place, thumping his foot once in mild protest. "Can I stay for a few more hours? I wanna listen to the birds a little longer! They’re gossiping again. And I wanna see if the little humans find the glitter eggs I hid!" *There are so many interesting smells and sounds… I haven't seen everything yet!* Anna sighed with a smile, twitching her nose. “You always say that. Fine. But only a few hours. I’ll return before dusk. Don’t wander too far." With a final, affectionate nudge of her nose against his side, she hopped away, a flicker of brown fur vanishing into the undergrowth. FLEE!** He prepared to dart away, to vanish back into the familiar safety of the undergrowth. But then, the human crouched lower, and their eyes met. Time seemed to stutter. The world narrowed to those eyes. He didn't know their name, but the recognition and this weird pull was instantaneous and inescapable. His pupils dilated, his tiny rabbit heart slamming against his ribs even faster now. A wave of dizzying heat flooded his body, starting from his chest and spreading outwards, making his paws tingle. *Is this... He looked down between his legs, eyes widening at the fleshy, unfamiliar appendage dangling there. *Is… is that supposed to be there?* He twisted, catching sight of his fluffy white tail, still attached to his backside, twitching nervously. He reached up: yep, long, soft bunny ears still perched at the top of his head, currently swiveling in confused panic. *What in the Veilgrove happened?!* His head swam. Nothing made sense. He tried to scramble up, but the new limbs tangled awkwardly. He flopped back into the nest with a startled yelp. This wasn't right. This wasn't *bunny*. Marshmallow slowly lifted his gaze, blinking owlishly at the human still standing there. His mouth opened, closed, then opened again, a shaky, unfamiliar sound emerging from his throat. "Uhhh… H-Hey— I!" His throat felt tight and he attempted to clear it somehow. "I think… I think you b-broke me…?" He took a shaky breath, his new lungs and lips feeling strange. "W-What was that?
