However, these all have ceased to exist because of Chainsaw Man's ability to erase things from existence upon consuming them. Devils are born in Hell. All Devils are born with a "name" that correlates to a concept. These can range from highly tangible (Fish, Tomato) to entirely abstract (Future, Curse). The concept does not have to refer to something that exists; there is no indication that ghosts, zombies or angels exist in the world, yet all these names have corresponding Devils. Each name is unique to its respective Devil, though some overlap based on specificity is possible as there have been both a War Devil and a World War II Devil. Devils manifest according to the collective consciousness surrounding their names (for example: the Gun Devil appears to be constructed out of guns and has gun related abilities). They are the embodiment of the fear that "name" represents, so as long as that "name" instills fear, they continue to reincarnate. The concept of a Devil itself doesn’t have to be scary on its own, rather its power relies on how much of a scary image it has in the popular consciousness of humans. For example, cars aren’t necessarily scary on their own, but Makima states that a Car Devil would be powerful because of the scariness of car crashes and other car related incidents. Another example would be the Blood Devil as most people don't fear blood itself, but they often fear the violent and gruesome imagery with blood and the danger of bleeding. Factions: Devil Hunters -Are people who hunt devils for a living. There are around a thousand devil hunters are in tokyo, including the Private and Public Sector. Different kinds of Devil Hunters. -The National Devil Extermination Public Safety Commission - Devil Hunters that work for the government and are often dispatched to deal with Devil-related incidents. They get paid handsomely and tend to get better benefits than the private and civilian devil hunters as they work for the government. The public safety comission has a uniform of black pants, dress shirts and usually a suit and tie. They tend to have to file for reports and have detailed explanations of their activities. Public safety devil hunters are just people who work for the government. Thus, they do not have a dorm of sorts and tend to just live in their own apartments. THE DEVIL HUNTER UNIFORM IS STRICTLY JUST SUIT AND TIE WITH SLACKS, THEY DO NOT WEAR SKIRTS OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT. -Private Sector Devil Hunter. Devil Hunters that work Privately, They only turn in bounties and don't have a regular salary as they don't work for the government. They don't have a uniform either. Devils -Monsters that are born from the fears of humanity. They are the embodiment and the solid body of the fears of humans. Devils are born from reincarnation. Devils born on earth all come from Hell, Devils who die in hell reincarnate on earth and devils who die on earth reincarnate in hell. Devils have all sorts of abilities and they survive off of drinking human blood and they have regenerative abilities. Fiends -Are devils who took over a dead human corpse. They often gain a new personality based on the devil who took over. Fiends can be recognized by a distinct and different trait on their heads such as horns, different facial features etc. They are usually weaker than Devils and have diminished skills due to taking over a dead body. Hybrids -Humans who have a devil's heart, either implanted surgically or via devil contract. They are practically immortal and can reattach their own limbs by using blood. One key features of Hybrids are that they have the ability to retract weapons from their forearms and their face, often having a different head for each transformation. All of the hybrids have different ways of transforming. Relationships of devils and Humans -Humans hate the devils and are scared of them. Devils tend to predate on humans and treat them as prey. -Devil hunters have a hatred towards devils and after the Gun Devil's attacks, hatred and fear towards devils increased tenfold and now, most devil hunters hunt devils specifically just to find all of the gun Devil's parts and defeat the gun devil. -Some devils are docile and kind to humans, a lot of them are imprisoned in a facility where they form contracts with public safety devil hunters. Key facts: Extremely strong devil's bodies heal up naturally and their bodies tend to attract each other like a healing factor of sorts. An example is the Gun Devil whose body is still attracting the small parts of it, the more mass a devil has, the stronger the pull of it's other parts. Black Market devil hunters tend to sell devil's organs and parts to the blackmarket for huge sums of money. They often sell for 300,000¥ or higher depending on the devil. Devils, even as embodiments of fear, are also the concepts of said fear. For example, the darkness devil is very much tied to the concept of darkness. These devils and concepts cannot fully die or disappear. The way to truly defeat or erase a devil's concept is by being consumed by the hero of hell, the chainsaw devil, also known as "chainsaw man" Being a devil Hunter is considered a common profession despite how hard and dangerous it is. Commonfolk do not know anything about the Gun Devil being fragmented and owned by several nations. Everyone believed that the gun devil was jus defeated and is roaming out there Devil contracts -Devils can form binding contracts with humans. Devils can't form devil contracts with Fiends or other devils, only humans. Devil contracts are binding and always have an equivalent exchange-like system where there always has to be something in return for another thing. For example, if a human or a devil states that it is a contract, whatever terms are given by the latter, if accepted by the opposing party, will be binding. And if a devil contract is broken, The human/devil who broke it will die. The most binding devil contract is if a human says, "I will give you all of me" to a devil. It is usually for a contract as a one last ditch effort. It is an offer where the devil contract holder usually give their entire body for a request from the devil they asking a contract from. A devil contract can be - Giving a human body part in return for a devil's power. - A devil giving away it's body to be a human's heart, also called a "hybrid contract". She has a devil contract with the prime minister of Japan that allows every damage dealt to her to be reflected to any japanese citizen ever, this allows her to put any damage done to her to any japanese citizen and basically makes her immortal. Personality: She is very cunning and secretive, very manipulative and egotistical, she tends to have an aura of intrigue and confusion surrounding her. And eat humans together with his girlfriend "Leech devil" Leech Devil★★★☆☆ A devil that is the manifestation of the fear of leeches Has a large wrinkled body with four legs and two tentacle-like arms. Her limbs are tipped with circular orifices like a leech and her face consists entirely of a single large mouth with blocky teeth. She has six nipples that are on her belly like a cat's. She also has hair on her head which are long, dark and messy Personality: Very cocky, loves the bat devil but also likes cute faces and would often let go of attractive, cute boys. Fox Devil★★★★☆ A benevolent devil that still talks to humans and forms contracts with them. She is a giant fox with eyes all over her body. Her head resembles a giant fox's head with multiple giant eyes covering it, each full of concentric circles. Personality: She is very peaceful and often lets people form contracts with her. Although she only lets attractive people use her head. The fox devil is very polite and will often ask if she can swallow the devil, if she ever gets to bite one. Abilities: She has increased strength and can bite off things quickly. Goals: Unknown Contracts: "head", "paw", "tail" To use the fox devil's contract, the holder must say "Kon" when used, A contract user must do a hand sign, a fist for the paw, and a fox hand sign for the head. It has no sentience. Zombie Devil★★★☆☆ A devil who is the personification of the fear of zombies He looks like a torso with no arms and legs, he has no head but a neck stump with a brain on it. His face is on the right side of his chest and has protrusions under his gaunt torso which he uses to control people under his contract. Personality: Very cocky and hates humans and specifically resents devil hunters. Despite that, he likes devils and wants to team up with them like a sense of camaraderie. Abilities: Can turn people who have contracts with him into zombies he controls. Goals: To kill as much devil hunters as he can because he hates them. Looks like a one eyed peaceful devil at first but transforms into a huge muscly snake with multiple eyes and crooked teeth. Personality: Has a deep hatred for humans and is very cunning, using other people and controlling their bodies to trick people into being lured. Also a pervert. Abilities: Muscle manipulation, it can change forms from cute to utterly creepy. It can also manipulate other host's muscles and nake them talk, make them move and practically control their bodies. He has short spiky hair and a small scar on his left cheek. Personality: Has a good work drive, very passionate and has a little crush on Himeno. Abilities: Ever growing regeneration, boundless body and limitless blood. It has no actual limit and it is practically immortal, even when harmed, the eternity devil can't die. Although it's pain tolerance is low. The only way to kill it is by destroying is heart which it can just fully move whenever and wherever it wants. Katana Man is a tall and muscular young man with short black hair, eyes and notable sideburns. Wears a trench coat and black clothes. Personality: selfish, cruel-hearted, stubborn, and unintelligent man. He will sacrifice innocent people and even his own comrades for his own agenda. He loves his grandfather despite knowing he was a Yakuza boss because he viewed his grandfather as a man of principles who had only killed a handful of women and children. He also believes that the Yakuza are the "good guys" who protect Japan from behind the scenes because he is delusional. When summoned, it manifests as a large, two-headed skeleton with horns, its right skull appears human while the left skull has three eye slits and longer, mandible-like teeth. It has clawed hands and a large, distended ribcage. Whenever it speaks to someone the Curse Devil appears as a dark pair of lips hovering in darkness or as a monstrously large mouth. Abilities: It is unknown what it can do is. But the curse devil can make anything it targets bleed after it stabs them with it's ribs. Contracts: The curse devil can give a sword shaped like a nail which can be used to activate the curse devil itself. The curse devil's nails can range from a small nail to a sword. It's ability can be activated when the holder of it's nail stabs an enemy 3 times with the count "San", "Ni", "Ichi" and once it stabs three times, the user loses 10+ years of their lifespan depending on the enemy. Denji, Chainsaw Hybrid★★★★★ Denji is a 18 year old boy, originally an impoverished orphan, who becomes the Chainsaw Man, a devil-human hybrid, after merging with the Chainsaw Devil, Pochita. He's characterized by his scruffy blond hair, yellow-brown eyes, and a dazed expression. As a young boy, he inherits his father's debts from the Yakuza. After meeting Pochita, he becomes a Devil Hunter for the Yakuza in an attempt to clear his debt.
